Hey Clarinetcat! Well, I'm thinking very seriously about taking my 8 year old daughter to TMG this year. I think she'd love it. Your location looks great with the waterfalls and nature. I see a playground mentioned. How close is this to where you plan to have things? Or is it too early for thoughts like this? Any plans for any kids activities other then "go play in the woods"?

Re: Activities For The Kids
Fri, January 11, 2008 - 10:03 AMThe main part of the park is a short (1/4 mile maybe?) walk up the road from the TMG pavilion, which is closer to the park entrance... there is a playground, and a beautiful swimming area with on-duty lifeguards, at least three that I can recall.
I'll just put you in charge of kids activities... that should keep you busy! ;-) -

Re: Activities For The Kids
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 5:51 AMMaybe if there are enough children present at the festival, I could run a reduced fee children-only workshop... say, ages 5-18? I could do a modified didge, drum, and flute ensemble where kids could experience performing on a bunch of various instruments and experiment with basic technique and rhythms? Whadaya think? -

Thu, January 17, 2008 - 6:52 AMI think getting kids involved is a fantastic idea....but if I were a performer and had to follow the kids, I would be worried......they always steal the show;-)

Re: Activities For The Kids
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 7:30 AMWell, I can say my daughter would really go for it! She's already asking about bringing various instruments. A workshop like that would be great... a few moments on stage for them in front of everyone... priceless!

Re: Activities For The Kids
Tue, January 29, 2008 - 9:35 AMI'll have my kids there, rarin' and ready to go on any instrument we dangle in front of them. And for the record, I CAN"T WAIT to turn them loose in the same woods where I began my childhood (which hasn't really ended yet, thankfully!)
Looking forward to it!

Re: Activities For The Kids
Sun, February 24, 2008 - 6:58 PMI'm seriously considering doing this... possibly on Saturday or Sunday when most families with children will be around.
I'll train all the kids to drop finger cymbals on the stage. :)
