That’s right… a big fancy thread title just to get your attention.
It seems we have a bunch of people here patiently waiting to hear more information about this “TMG” thing, and our host has delayed the website launch!
How rude! <*ahem*>
So, to make it up to you, over the next couple days I’ll be posting a few “off-topic” threads for entertaining and insightful discourse.
A few of you I know and have met in person… some of you I have talked to a bit through the tribe message system… some of you I don’t know much about yet. This tribe will give us all the opportunity to learn more about one another and share thoughts and ideas… thanks for being here!

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Sun, November 4, 2007 - 11:30 PMHave seen the "Wicked Tinkers" at the Scottish Highland Games and Forest Grove here in the Northwest. Love them( Jay ROCKS!!) and got interested in the didgeridoo/bronze age Irish horn which led to some research on the net. Found info on the whole didge/sleep apnea thing. Read how to make a didge. Made one. Learned a little on how to play. Found the "Tribe" and felt a desire to grow in my skill and knowledge so here I am!! I work for the Red Cross as a trainer and am a little shy about my didgeridoo playing. Again, here I am!! I am new to the whole "forum" thing. It seems like most people seem to know each other by the way they respond to posts, I guess it will take a while for me to open up!! Either way I am always open to inquiries!! p.s. Jay Atwood ( in case anyone does NOT know him:-) -

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 2:41 AMW.T. are excellent, very entertaining, high energy... I enjoyed watching them live at JT this past August. Jay is great... maybe he'll be at TMG?!? <wink-wink>
By the way, have you heard his album yet? Let me did up the link...
Here it is:

No reason to be shy about the didge playing, nor about the forum, Kevin...
Any pics of the didge you made? What materials? -

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 10:38 AMIn my profile pic you are looking up the out end of one of my PVC didges. They are not finished, just straight and plain. I actually just made them to learn on. One is about 3 foot and the other is 150cm. I used beeswax for the mouthpieces though. They sound OK I guess. I am actually planning to make some new wood didges, maybe even a "box". At least, when I get all my wood-working tools from my old house!! I am pretty cheap and I am trying not to spend too much money on didges until I have mastered the didge a little more, than I will want to get an authentic didge!! I will try to post some more pics of me & my didges!! Whoo Hoo -

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 6:47 PMChecked out the didge pics, sweet!! Man, I feel so lame compared to all you guys here. My didges work and all but they just look so sad, it's like I was a 10 year-old or something. I do just fine with the technical construction, I just suck at the creative portion. I have never been known for my artistic abilities though. I do plan to start making some wood creations soon!! I know my abilities with wood and I can do much better with it, well, we will see:) I will try to post some photos just promise you won't laugh, OK! (just kidding) -

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 7:03 PMJust remember...
It is far better to have a didge that sounds great and looks like crap,
Than to have a didge that looks great and sounds like crap.

Looks like crap... but sounds AMAZING!
(Not sure if the video is working correctly at the moment...) -

Re: Conversation Stimulation
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 2:40 PMThanks to all for the encouragement. I guess you are right about the looks. I am not equipped to do a video yet so I cannot be critiqued by long distance. I think they are OK. I will have to post some pics though. Well, maybe I will finally sand and paint them. I guess I just need a little motivation. I really like the idea of didge boxes though. I am fairly crafty when it comes to wood-working. I will certainly keep everyone aprised as I progress though.
