Re: Paulette - the Big adventure begins
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 4:55 AMI will ask my friend Jane for tips with grant writing but she's busy with study so may not have time to actually write. More on that next week. I am interested in knowing how many people are in for accomodation. I am looking at fri and Saturday night only as I'd like to see my cousin in Cairns after the workshop. Wouldn't mind trying to get something for more like $50 per night per person, any interest? I'm happy to look on wotif and get my cousin to suss it out. -

Thu, September 13, 2007 - 10:51 PMHEY DEE:
If you could find something cheaper for accom would suit me fine. Same as you, I will want to see my ancient Mother and my Sister while I'm up there (haven't been to Cairns for many many years) so perhaps we could travel back to BrisVegas together? Although I could stay with the rellies I think I'd much rather bunk in with the Blossoms depending on cost. Please keep me informed of developments.

Re: Paulette - the Big adventure begins
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 2:58 AMerrr.....the $50 per night is what the southern cross apartments are....gooses!! geeses ? me thinks I shouldnt type after vinos
i vote everyone look at options and put up maybe 3 or 4 places to choose from - Nina says Gullivers is a top notch backpackers and is the next best option. although I'd like a nice bed to sleep in :)
Theres a definite possibility I may stay an extra day so i can hang with my big sister up there too (hehehe her name is Nina)..will have to figure out looks like there may be half blossoms coming back sunday night and another segment on monday - its nice to be able to book together and maybe get our seats near each other??? can only hope!
how about posting accom ideas in this topic?

Re: Paulette - the Big adventure begins
Thu, September 20, 2007 - 3:17 AMSouthern cross apartments studios are $96/nt (for sleeping one - two)
its definitely a bit upmarket but I agree with Nina that you're unlikely to find cheaper. the $203 is a 4 share 2 bedroom apartment.
we wont have a car more than likely so anything in the central part of cairns should be ok, as long as you dont have to walk that far to get back to the southern cross apartments (where all the workshops are being held from 12 noon - 6pm)

Re: Paulette - the Big adventure begins
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 4:07 PMYay - the Tassie contingent are staying until Wed (I think) - so you can all hang with us for a few days as well. I am ot sure where we are staying, Monika is in charge of booking it all for us - though there is talk of southern cross apartments, simply cos you guys and Paulette are there as well.
Loved the dvd Dee! you guys looked great - it obviously was a great night and you could tell the Blossoms were enjoying themselves.
the best thing when applying for a grant is to show that you are getting good value for money - so show lots of stuff "in kind" (like you paying for part of it yourself, or getting a few free hours of tuition) - that is what they told me here when I applied last year (though didn't get one...... bloody TasDance - why do they need $200,000? - though I was in the range of projects they wanted to support, but ran out of money before they got to me!)
Hugs to you all
Denise
