Tribal Blossoms - Tribal Basics - Winter Beats term this week!!

HI everyone

well after two weeks of bliss we're about to get back into it for our third term for 2008 - Tribal Basics will also focus on Zilling & mastering finger cymbal technique as the beautiful Melissa steps in to head Tribal Basics this term.

(it never ceases to amaze and both please me the support my beautiful troupe continue to show me, by sharing the role of teaching Basics which also allows me to continue my own goals within Tribal Blossoms - so huge thanks go to Gay, Jules and Mel!!)

Wednesday nights the fun starts this week at 7pm at Danceworks studios, 19 Burke St Woolloongabba.

We've also been out and about in new cossies, dancing from one end of town to the other - check out the latest inspiration at youtube or below

Sydney plan of attack - Tribal Fest is a coming

Speaking of sydney - can I get a hands up if you're interested in coming to the festival either as a performer or workshop attendee - i've found a great deal with accommodation so I'd like to book some rooms once I know how many we've got going. The festival looks to be heavily fusion -formatted but there are some other styles too such as African dance, Gypsy Caravan format taught by Tribal Jewels etc that will entice the old school students :) honestly girls this is a great event and its important to go and experience other teaching styles, even if we dont follow any fusion format right now i'm very curious to experience the styles of teaching I've not had before and I will urge all of you to take part if budget and time allow for it. To be part of the tribal community is a special thing, and lets not forget we're hosting the meet and greet friday night (i'll need everyones help with that one too!!) have a look at the website, given im teaching sword i dont expect you gals to come to my workshop so please think about what you'd like to get out of tribal fest and I'll share what i know as its released. I'll be getting onto the sword choreo with you very soon - right now I'm mastering the second dance which will include Gay Mel & Jules and myself (I'll need two understudies too just in case I figure!)

I won my battle against the tappers - tribal basics is at 7pm UPSTAIRS as of this wednesday :)

also im thinking of getting some more vests/jackets embroidered with the tribal blossoms logo - we wear these to class and pre-performance - last time the vests were around $45 and jackets $50 - anyone want one?

Egyptian drumming lessons

I am making myself available for private drum tuition until I head overseas for a couple of months. Last year I ran a monthly workshop group however am not keen to start another group until after I get back in July. Tribal Nibbles - the goss

hey girls

have finally found the venue for our first Tribal Nibbles - this cool old bowls club at newstead (see www.theboo.com.au) and hope to have flyers out this week.

I need your help though - Monday girls I'll absolutely need your bodies up on stage...tis our show so I want you to put your thinking caps on about what you'd like to perform. Tuesday & Wednesday girls - there'll be time for a jam at the end, there is NO expectation for you to perform so breathe a big sigh of relief...however I do need help manning the door with ticket sales, manning a stall to sell both my old dance goodies & Nina's tribal bits and wares. And asking punters to take part in our door prizes....its not a huge night we've only got access to the hall really til 9pm as there's another party coming soon after.

What we ALL need to do is spread the word to our friends and family - all those people who've said they want to see us dance - let em know! if this event is a success not only do we all get to breath a bit easier in Cairns but we'll do more of them :)

Seriously though I'm about to get 6 sets of zills as far as I know - Margaret, Rowena, Erin, Lisa and Rene all need some....did I forget anyone else? they all work out to $35 each - the sooner I can get pennies off you the sooner I can order them - they should take about a week

Saroyan Arabesque, please dont scrimp on those nasty Oxfam shop ones, they just arent worth it and im really fussy about zills. Does anyone want to upgrade to the bigger size like mine while I'm at it? I can get a quote.....

one week til the powerhouse kicks off....and counting

its ONE week til we're kicking off our new location at the powerhouse - we've got various blossoms troupe members hitting the farmers markets on saturday with flyers (note to self - MUST order more flyers hehe)

and then its two weeks of fun while Julie starts revving em up with a massive opening special!

Feast of the Senses DVD

The DVD was great, good quality, great performances.

I love getting Australian stuff, especially when you know the people (well some of them).

Gay - you were amazing, almost didn't recognise you from the sam dancer from Tribal Fest. last year (not that you were bad then, just bloody brilliant NOW!).

I loved your improv circle in the first bit - andJulie's singing was beautiful.

Well done Dee - looks like it was organised fantastically and came together....

Congrats and see you in Cairns (and them maybe the next Feast - we will come on a road trip)
