OK, decision time is approaching! When will there be a definitive line up of teachers for Ford 2009? I have gathered a few names from various posts on this tribe but is there a final/definite list? It's a lot of money and a long way to go .......

announcing........
Fri, January 2, 2009 - 2:11 PMFrom the USA,
Samantha Riggs is the Founder, Artistic Director, Choreographer and Lead Dancer for both Boom Boom Bollywood and The Sexy Scallywags Dance Circus in Tempe, Arizona, and is a performer with Jamila Lotus Renaissance bellydance troupe and Fyrae fire arts troupe. She was the assistant director as well as a core dancer, teacher, musician and choreographer for Domba Tribal Fusion Dance Troupe (winners of the 2006 Zaghareet “Best Troupe” award) from 1996 until their dissolution in October of 2006. Samantha has traveled the world teaching Bollywood Style Dance, Bhangra, Tribal Style Bellydance, Tribal Fusion, Fire Arts and “Pirate” Bellydance. She has sold out classes at TribalFest every year since 2005. Her innovative “Minnat Kare” choreography won Boom Boom Bollywood first place in the Aashiyana All-Indus Dance Competition in 2007.
also from the USA:
Rose Harden,Tribal Fusion belly dancer, has been an active member of the San Francisco belly dance community since 1999. As a long standing member of Ultra Gypsy (1999-2008), and founding member of Barbary Coast Shakedown, she has shared the joy of this dance form through performance and instruction through out the United States and Europe. Rose is inspired by the diversity of the San Francisco performance and dance community where she continues her dance and movement studies with Suhalia Salimpour, Mira Betz, Amy Sigil, yoga, modern dance, and pilates. She also tours with the Cyclecide Bike Rodeo and The Lifesize Mousetrap when not managing Rosehips Designs.
From the UK:
Horizon (Imajica Dance Company) was introduced to Tribal Bellydance in 2004 and immediately fell in love with power of the beat of the drum and began studying at a local Raqs Sharqi and although she enjoyed folk dance her heart was drawn to Tribal style Bellydance so began to attend ATS and attend fusion workshops and is now hooked on the beautiful art that is 'Tribal'. Horizon enjoys fusing her knowledge of Western dance with the sensual & beautiful dances of the East to dance Contemporary fusion bellydance.
Pauline Qu had her first lesson in Arabic Dance on holiday in Tunisia in 1987 and become totally hooked. Having spent the total 2 weeks taking private tuition with the hotel’s local belly dancer she returned to the UK to find that there were no teachers in her area and resorted to Videos from the US to fuel her new found passion.BTS incorporates many different styles of dance, from Khaleeji to Romani, and the aim is to continue incorporating ideas and influences to keep the style fresh, dynamic and occasionally insane! They have been delivering classes and workshops throughout the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Beatrice Flowers, Michelle Pender and many more whose bios can be downloaded at a later date.

Mon, January 5, 2009 - 11:57 AMHi Lindsey, will Sam be doing any fire/dance lessons at Ford? as Kali tribe have just got some new fire swords and palms and are keen to learn how to use them. We have a DVD but its much better to have someone who has experience of working with fire to show you directly.

workshop description
Tue, January 27, 2009 - 1:15 AMOk Barbara, you win here is a sneak peak at one of Sams classes!
‘Pirate bellydance’ (props required) with Sam
That’s not much of an incentive for me to fight fair, now is it?
Pirate Bellydance is the culmination of Samantha’s experience with tribal fusion, stage combat, Bollywood and Bhangra, African fusion, comedy theatre and tall ship sailing… plus a little bit of madness… or brilliance (it’s remarkable how often those two traits coincide). Imagine the dynamic action of shipboard sword fights, the physicality of Bhangra and African dance, and the tongue-in-cheek humor of drunken Bollywood or Pirate movie comedy scenes and you may begin to scratch the surface of the spirit of Pirate Bellydance. This workshop will cover the basics of stage combat for dancers, including footwork, balance, swordplay and hand-to-hand. The emphasis will be on drunken brawling. Learn to look like you just smacked your dance partner in the face with a beer mug! Make it appear to the audience that you just dragged her/him across the floor by her/his hair! Learn how to do simple sword work that looks really flashy! Crotch kicks and nipple tweaks are included. Please bring a straight sword of some kind (rapier, fencing foil, epee, longsword, etc. – dance scimitars will not work) or a dance cane or wooden dowel (it should be something you can wield one-handed so claymores are right out unless you are SUPER strong). Also bring a plastic water bottle for hand-to-hand props work and any knee, ankle, wrist, elbow, hand or foot support/pads you might need for lunging and holding a sword for a couple of hours (leather gloves can be helpful). Also please bring a sense of humour.
