Tsingani, a Tribal Fusion Troupe based in San Luis Obispo California, has been performing since 2006. There style is a blend of “traditional” Tribal fused with an eclectic array of dance cultures. This includes Asian, Latin, Modern Jazz, Hip-Hop, Indian as well as a bit of “funktafied” moves that we create ourselves.

With the love of ATS (American Tribal Style) so firmly planted in there roots, Tsingani has recently developed a new format of Improv that specifically focuses on Duets. This format allows 2 people to work the stage at full capacity of a larger troupe.

      • Elizabeth Souza

        Mon, January 7, 2008 - 2:11 AM
Elizabeth Souza began taking Hula lessons at the age of 4. By age 6, she was studying under Napua and Napua’s protégée, Judy Bass. Over the next several years, she continued her studies, which included classes in ballet, jazz, modern, and more significantly Tahitian dance under the tutelage of Margery Hannigan and Hula with her primary Polynesian dance mentor (Kumu Hula), Ilima Montgomery. She appeared on stage in a production of The King and I, several commercials and print ads, and had a spot on the television program The Sunshine Celebration Company. She was a principle dancer at The Tikis in Monterey Park for seven years, for Les Polynesia Dance Company, and The Seven Seas in Hollywood. She taught at Georgia McManus’ studio in Long Beach and had a private studio of her own.
It when then that Elizabeth began to take an interest in bellydance. She studied under Allegra, Cella, Caroleena Epstein, and Janea Drummond (who were all students of MaShuga, which Elizabeth later studied under). She worked as a bellydancer in a variety of restaurants throughout San Jose and Santa Cruz and even delivered “belly grams.” She and her sister founded Raks Ohana, fusing Polynesian and bellydance, teaching and performing at events such as the Cairo Carnival and Bedouin Bazaar. Elizabeth has taken workshops from numerous teachers, from Egypt and many of the well known American teachers, Judeen, Jill Parker, Ansuya, Rachel Brice, Alexandra King, Jillna, etc. More recently, she began studying Tribal Belly dance under Ayse Cerami in 2003 and has been a member of all her troupes Kamala Varna, Sundara Varna, and currently She’ enedra and the Sisterhood Dance Collective.

          • Mistress Lucretia

            Mon, January 7, 2008 - 2:12 AM
Mistress Lucretia - founder member of Raqs Macabre, and also known as Krissy
from Farida, and Zombelina Queen of all Zombies, has always been
fascinated by the darker side of life, but in a light hearted way. After seeing
varying representations of 'raqs gothique', and also being very inspired by
Domba! at previous Fords, she decided it was time to dig up some dances
And invites all you girls and ghouls to join her in some fiendish fun.
            • Caroline Bury

              Mon, January 7, 2008 - 2:16 AM

Caroline discovered Belly Dance approximately 6years ago, while teaching a Tai Chi workshop at a women’s health day. On offer that day, amongst many good things, was an introduction to Belly Dance. From that day onwards, forms of Belly Dance became increasingly pursued until approx 4 years ago, teaching Tai Chi changed to teaching Belly Dance, which in turn evolved to Tribal Fusion.

Prior to this, Caroline had studied, practiced and taught Tai Chi for 10 years, traveled to Beijing to learn a straight sword form and took part in Chinese Internal Arts Competitions.

                    and The Uzumé

                    Tue, January 8, 2008 - 2:41 AM
The Uzumé was founded in early 2005 by Tjarda and Minka and began as the first troupe to represent Tribal Fusion Bellydance in the Netherlands .  As their style immediately hit it off, they started collaborating with many DJ's and events. After several months of hard work, they found their equal  in Maya (Renate), to complete the team, joining forces with their unique individual quality's.

Through their creative use of blending many dance forms, the use of traditional music mixed with electronic beats of the global underground and their personal expression of living in this day and age they have pushed the boundaries and broken new ground.
