I'd like to know your experience, and what you want to learn.

Being a drummer, my lessons will have a similar vocabulary. If you you've seen Tobias Roberson's DVD, you'll have some idea, although it's an accident. I hadn't seen it myself until last week.

I can do the basics, or much more advanced rhythms, like bolero, rhumba, malfoof, son clave, and the 6/8 rhythms like Moroccan, bimbe, mahi and dahdra.

There will be handouts, no matter how far we get.

I'd just like to know ahead of time what y'all are interested in.

The theme of the whole will be musicianship...Zillers are musicians and must fit into the music being played. Zilling well requires having the various rhythms at your disposal and being able to improvise effectively and accenting the music. I don't know if we'll get that far, but that's where I intend to aim you.

SEE YA THERE!

I just sent my worksheets to Jamy. It's way more than we can cover in 2 hours, but you'll be able to take home a nice resource for tools and practicing.

Isn't that special? But wait, there's more!

There's also a drum and zills composition attached. :-) And Jamy's thinking of performing it, and there may also be a mystery guest to perform melody along with it!

How much would you pay for this? But wait there's more!

You'll learn how to read drum tabulature so that you can figure out what they are doing. You'll be able to write down your own rhythms.

    But wait there's more!

You'll get all this and a beautiful set of Ginsu Knives that never need sharpening.

    OH! Wait! Wrong commercial.

    See ya there!

I'm so bummed that Vagabond Cirque got cancelled due to Ike. I was really looking forward to meeting you and seeing IIWII perform. I think you were following us (Qantara) in the line up on the garden stage. I hope that Ike's aftermath won't interfere with me coming to Tribal Sands.

Yea, I was looking forward to it. It's not cancelled, though, just postponed until the 7th and 8th of November. I needed the break to rest up and get things done before heading out on a 22 hour drive, four nights of fun and 22 hours back. OY! I won't get back until late Wednesday and I have to be at work on Thursday!

Well, I'm taking full advantage of the fun! See ya there!

If you have castanets, bring 'em. The rhythms I'm teaching will work for those, as well. I'm teaching myself to play them, and while I can play the rhythms I already know it would be nice to have anyone there who is more experienced with their technique than I am.
