What is your dream workshop, intensive or festival. Who would the teachers be? What would they teach- styles, moves, techniques? What would the performance line up be? What about intensives? Where would it be located? Where do you want to go? What would be your dream intensive? How about non-dance workshops- what would you like to learn?

Come co-create with me. Do you want a festival in San Diego? Would you like an intensive somewhere else?

Tell me your dreams and lets dream it into reality!

New San Diego showcase

Your feedback can help shape a new bellydance showcase in San Diego by the creator of Arabesque!

From Reza's email:

Hello and Happy New Year everyone,

We hope you've had a good start, and we sincerely hope 2009 will be a better year for everyone.

Our 2008 event took place recently and, thanks to those who took part in it, was a great artistic success. You're welcome to read about it by visiting our website. This email, however, is about something else.

We're writing to you because, in addition to our next annual Competition Event in September 2009, we're launching a small weekly "Dancing Showcase" at our Tee Rose Studio in Downtown San Diego. This Showcase will take place every Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, approximately, and will feature dancing by various performers and instructors of Belly Dancing, Hoop Dancing, Flamenco, Salsa, Tango, Hip Hop, etc. All at no charge!

We think this will be a great opportunity for everyone:

* Instructors and performers get to meet to new potential students and clients;
* Up and coming dancers get to refine their skills and mingle with the professionals;
* Audiences will have a great time; (By the way, plenty of free parking is available.)
* And, if there is enough interest, we'll also arrange for snacks and a couple of vending tables.

You can help us make it a success:

* Your response will give us a measure of how well this weekly activity will be received. Tell us what you think, even if you're not going to participate. Suggestions are always helpful and welcome. Reply to teerosep6 (at) gmail (dot) com
* If you like to perform on one of these Sundays, let us know about a week in advance.
* If you have friends who might be interested, please let them know about our weekly event.
* If you're going to respond to this email, please do so at your earliest convenience because we hope to get started by early to mid February, with an announcement.

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you,

Got a question for the dancer types here.... which one would you rather have after a performance - hi quality still shots or hi quality video? Debating which to get this year, a better camera, or a higher end camcorder. As most of my subjects are the dancers on stage, would like to know which one (stills or video) you all would find most useful.
what a beautiful evening...
thank you to the TSDS staff who worked tirelessly to bring this festival to the public.
i must say
there were some powerful moments on the stage that night
from laura's crazy antics which had me rolling (as usual)
to the smorgasbord of tribal fusions
i'm proud to call SD home

Festival pix from saturday are uploading to Flickr as this is being typed.

The pix from sunday will start uploading as soon as I can get them processed.

I shoot at as high a resolution as the camera will let me, so getting them onto here is a big pain in the butt. Goto www.flickr.com and do a search for "bellydancepix," and that will take you to my pictures.

DANCERS - if you were in front of my lens this weekend, you are free to download, create a link to, or comment on the pix I shot. If you know someone good with photoshop (or any other program of the type) I have the digital "raw" files saved, just let me know which ones you need, and I'll get them to you.

They are uploading slow, so keep trying back,,, I have approximately 900 or so pix to upload so it may take a minute or two.

I just wanted to thank everybody that made this event the best it possibly could be. I really enjoyed myself, but man am I sore, Kirti, you Rock! Being around all the belly dancers, I felt at home and just basically floated around all weekend.
A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers, can not have a successful event without you. To the vendors, you are half of the reason why people want to come to festival, there would be no festival without you, Thank you! To the performers, what a joy it was to watch all of you, you made the festival, joyful, thank you for putting smile on our faces! I hope everybody that came had as much fun as I did! The Saturday night show, rocked hard. If I wasn't so tired I would have been dancin in the ailes! The instructors were absolutely increadiable!! I wish I could have gone to all the workshops!
Love to everyone that made this event excellent!

On Sunday at the Tribal SDstyle Festival, We are screening a short documentary created by a local filmmaker regarding the impact of dance on woman, specifically ATS, and how it creates self-confidence, bonding among women of all ages and body shapes. Mountain Tribal is the troupe that is the subject of the documentary and they will perform after the screening.

I would like to get as many ATS/ITS groups as possible to perform on Sunday to show support. And to show the community what we are all about. Let my know if you are available and please pass the word around.

What to do, Where to eat, Where to stay in Coronado

If you've checked out the festival page on the website, you'll know that Coronado is an island, sort of, connected to the mainland, downtown San Diego, by a bridge. It is also connected by a strip of land, we call the Strand, to Imperial Beach in the south.

I'm originally from Sausalito, in the San Fran Bay area. To me, Coronado, is a SoCal version of Sausalito, except flat. Coronado also has one of the top ten beaches in the country. And it's our little secret- which means that during the fall and winter it is quiet and beautiful.

Most people, here. get around on bicycle. But the town is small enough that you can walk everywhere. Coronado is laid out on the grid system- so it is pretty easy to figure out. Take a look at the maps on the website. You can find them by clicking on the address for Granzer Hall or CoSA.

The center of town is Orange Avenue. That's where you find most restaurants, shops and hotels (from about 8th to Adella). There are also shops and restaurants near the ferry landing by the bay. The Ferry landing is located to the east on First and B.

I mentioned a few restaurants in another post on this tribe under the title 'plenty of'.
But here are some more:

Coronado Brewery- handcrafted beers, burgers, ribs, chicken, steak, pizza http://www.coronadobrewingcompany.com/

Village Pizza- two locations- on Orange and at the Ferry landing. Sister restaurants are also Mootime and Beach n Diner. Can't visit Coronado without a trip to Mootime- best icecream eveh! http://www.mootime.com/

Alexander's Pizza- A family favorite http://www.alexanderspizza.com/

Cafe 1134- our favorite breakfast and coffee place http://www.ecoronado.com/cafe1134/

Tartine- where I like to meet clients for breakfast http://www.tartinecoronado.com/

The Bistro- located at the Crown Inn- my Mom's favorite place for breakfast- closest hotel to the venue http://www.crowncityinn.com/

Bayside Market- the only place we shop on the island- similar to Henry's- natural foods etc

Albertsons- we go here when we can't find it at Bayside and it's too late to go across the bridge.

There's a million more. Island Pasta, Panera, Swaddee Thai, Yummy Sushi, Spyro Gyro.. Just ask me or one of our volunteers at the festival.

Where to stay
I haven't stayed at these but they look cute and their prices seem reasonable. Generally, prices are lower in winter.
Crown City Inn above
Coronado Village Inn- has a full kitchen that is available to all guests http://www.coronadovillageinn.com/
Best Western is nice but a little pricey, I think. http://www.bestwesterncalifornia.com/hotels/best-western-suites-hotel-coronado-island/

And if you have an RV you can stay at the beach on the strand. They used to allow camping but I don't think they do anymore.

Internet
The Coronado Library (Orange between 6th and 7th) is one block from the venue, lots of internet access and they have a great Coffee cart outside. You can eat breakfast there- just a few steps from CoSA and Granzer Hall.

ATM's
Union Bank and Wells Fargo are the closest (Orange between 8th & 9th)

Fox and Olu and Ayse keeping time with the drum of my heart. Kaleidoscope, Julie Lively and the gang working it with Subee Djinn- Nikii and SuperKate! Yum!! I have wanted those two at the evening show for so long! Mirabelle- Sooz and Rachael getting it down the ATS way. Kirti and Karen making sweet gitana fusion with Afri-belly, Indian and bet there's hip hop in the mix. Steven sneaking into my soul. The tricked out moves of the Anaya gals. The long cool drink of Urban Tribal. Sweet Sabrina stealing my emotions. Save me She'enedrah Grooves laid out by Frank Lazzaro and Cairo Beats. Politti moving through stillness. Heartbreak Mistress Raine. All woven together by our fabulous MC Ms. Laura Sutherland. And of course the night wouldn't be complete without Bonnie holding time and space.

So buy a ticket $15 in advance, $25 at the door.

"Beyond The Bellydance" Documentary showing at the Festival on Sun Nov 9 ...

Time: Sun Nov 9, 2008 2-3PM
Location: Tribal SDstyle Festival, Granzer Hall, 550 F Avenue, Coronado, Ca 92118
Details: A showing of Beyond Bellydance and a special performance by Mountain Tribal.

Tribal SDstyle is really excited to host Joyce Axelrod's "Beyond The Bellydance". This is personally special to me as I got to meet many of these ladies when my co-founder of Velvet Gypsy Tribal, Devorah Wolfe, taught her tribal belly dance class in San Diego back in 2004.

Here is more info from the Press Release.

“Beyond The Bellydance”
An inspiring documentary about music and dance,
and true stories of women, friends and bonding!

In the quaint little mountain town of, eleven women have found a new and added rhythm to their lives. These women of all ages, sizes and backgrounds - a bookkeeper , a massage therapist, a business woman, an animal rescuer, a house painter, a weaver plus their drummer musicians– have been enchanted and intoxicated by the ancient, mysterious and sensual dance: The belly dance! It has changed their lives and given them a sense of community, friendship and profound fulfillment of being part of something larger than themselves.

"This is peek into the lives of 11 women in the backcountry mountain town of Julian, California and how they have created a deep bond of friendship, self confidence and an
artistic voice through their love of belly dancing!"

See this dance of expression, how hearth & home meet bare, rolling tummies and how it has created a deep bond of self confidence and an artistic voice as the Mountain Tribal Gypsy Belly Dance troupe. www.beyondbellydance.org/

San Diego film documentarian Joyce Axelrod, has just completed this insightful look into the dancers and musicians who comprise this band of gypsy spirits. When asked why she took on this project Joyce answers quite simply, “ I hope the documentary will, above all be entertaining for both men and women. And through these personal stories, women will be able to accept their bodies and find joy in dance-whether it be belly dance or other forms of physical and creative movement.”

With hints of further aspiration Joyce adds that she considers this a perfect subject for cable television or film and belly dance festivals. One detects a sense of mission behind her vision. Through many months of rigorous labor on this film she continues to be moved by the passionate human story behind the pageantry of performance that has so enriched the community.

The documentary shows a woman’s transformed image of herself and how she finds freedom through joyous self-acceptance. It shows how art can inspire one to re-create the world around us.
The links on the left are actually that- links- there is a festival page, a workshop page etc. in other words- the front page or home page is not the only page on the site. Click the links- you'll be surprised.

We are also on other sites like this one (although not much these days), my space, facebook and ning. There are links to tribe, myspace and ning from each page of the website on the lower left side. And there is an email and snail mail address also on each page of the website on the lower left side. If you click on the email link- it will generate an email in your email reader- and you can send me and email with questions.

Keepin' it real and showing our roots! If you went to last year's workshop with Sooz, you know this will be a workshop like no other. With Rachel joining in this year, you're in for a real treat. Wonder Twin powers, ACTIVATE!

SOOZ & RACHEL of MIRABELLE

ATS Duets
Bringing new life to your tribal moves. The beauty of ATS is that as long as you know the language, you can dance with anyone anywhere, no prep needed, but sometimes we get in a rut. Tired of always facing forward, using the same old formation and want to interact with your dance buddies more effectively/differently? Sooz & Rachel of Mirabelle will teach partnering techniques you can use in improv and choreography to enhance your dance and increase the fun when you meet up with other dancers. No partner needed. Prior knowledge of ATS is helpful, but not necessary.

As soon as we can make a good schedule, we'll put up the Eventbrite page.... and get through this FABULOUS Kami Liddle weekend! Holy crap! Last night was amazing and I can not wait for the workshop today. *eeep!*

If you have been looking to add some funk to your dance, you want to take Karen's workshop. This mama is the Goddess of FunkySexyGrooviness!

KAREN TAPIA

AfriBellydance (remixed)
AfriBellydance is a dance cocktail that consists of many delectable flavors, more specifically: a lovely blend of Tribal Fusion with dances of the African Diaspora. This workshop will focus on Tribal Fusion + Cuban Rumba. We will begin with a thorough warm up, then students will be introduced to AfriBellydance technique and stylings. Short across-the-floor combos will build to a high-energy combination that can be used or modified for use in the students' repertoire. All levels are welcome; some bellydance training is suggested. Come ready to sweat and dance your bliss!

KAREN TAPIA & KIRTI SRIVASTAVA

AfriBelly Indian Fusion
This is a style of dance that was created in order to cater to the dancer striving to understand the connection between rhythm and dance styles from around the world. Karen will bring a unique blend of Afro Cuban Folklore/Rumba/Popular, ATS & Tribal Fusion Bellydance, Bomba, and Modern; while Kirti brings Classical Indian Odissi, Bollywood, Bhangra, Hip Hop and African styles. We have carefully designed a workshop that will not only challenge your body, but will also teach the mind to make global connections between music and dance. Now is the time to bridge the gap and become a global community. Come be a part of the dance movement!! All levels welcome. Bring a full skirt, yoga mat and an open mind.

I know, we already told you about Kirti, but she's just so amazing and inspiring that I had to post her workshop again!

KIRTI SRIVASTAVA

Odissi Basics
Odissi is one of the first classical Indian dance forms of India. We will be studying in the Mahari tradition. Maharis were Orissan devadasis or temple girls (their name deriving from Maha (great) and 'Nari' or 'Mahri' (chosen)). Early Maharis performed mainly nritta (pure dance) and abhinaya (interpretation of poetry) based on mantras. In this workshop, we will touch upon the nritta excercises and mudras (hand gestures) of abhinaya. You will learn a short odissi piece as well as exercises that you can integrate into your own dance practice. Intermediate to advanced levels encouraged to attend. Bring Yoga mat and water.

The focus of this workshop will be on the combination of Tribal techniques, not the techniques themselves (it will be understood that you have a understanding already). A basic understanding of ATS Taxeem, Torso Twist Layback and Reverse Taxeem or at least a year of ATS or Tribal Fusion belly dance in recommended. If you are a beginner, please attend with awareness of your body’s limits.

STEVEN EGGERS

Layering 101
Learn the basics and concepts in the art of layering. With the tools and knowledge you learn in this workshop you will be on the way to becoming a pro. The class will cover specific techniques to overcome the difficulties that arise when trying to layer, along with different drills to accompany the technique. At the end of class a short combination will be taught that includes layering, of course! Be prepared to challenge your brain and bring a notebook. When you leave the workshop, I promise you will want to add a shimmy to everything you do!

Join us for two great Tribal SDstyle events in August!

First, we have a fantastic show lined up for you Friday, August 22 at our favorite place, Kava Lounge. The show will include our TSDS 3 instructors, friends of TSDS and headlining – the fabulous Kami!

Kava Lounge
2812 Kettner Boulevard
San Diego, CA 92101
http://www.kavalounge.com

Door Opens: 7:30pm
Show Starts: 8:00pm
Cover: $5 at the door

Next, we follow up the show with an amazing workshop Saturday, August 23. This workshop combines all that we love about Kami!

Location:
Dance Place San Diego
2650 Truxtun Road
San Diego, CA 92106

Workshop Fee:
Pre-register and save! $35 in advance through Monday, August 18
http://kamiliddle.eventbrite.com
Door: $45

Seamless Dancing: Noon – 2:00pm
This class will begin with a brief warm-up and move on to drilling movements, but with a twist! A series of combinations will be introduced, focusing on creating smooth and continuous lines with the body, with a few pops and locks thrown in for fun. These combinations will be put together for a short choreography. Belly dance experience is highly recommended.

About Kami:
Kami’s style is what she calls a modern fusion of an ancient dance. Although she is primarily a tribal dancer, she pulls from the various styles of belly dance that she has studied, as well as modern, hip hop, jazz, and bhangra dance. Her goal is to always be a student of dance and to constantly expand her repertoire. Kami has performed and taught internationally and is currently touring with Bellydance Superstars.
Tribal SDstyle is a non-profit organization that produces a yearly tribal belly dance festival to raise money for worthy charities. Non-profit dance and entertainment events are held throughout the year to cover the expenses associated with the yearly festival.

2008 brings many dreams and goals for Tribal SDstyle. Our main goals are to raise enough funds to file for official 501c(3) status and continue to increase support for our chosen charitable organization.

This year's recipient is Humanitarian Circus. An organization that travels to war-torn and impoverished areas to bring entertainment, arts and laughter to it's displaced children. You can find out more about them and their mission at http://www.myspace.com/humanitariancircus.
What is Tribal ~ San Diego Style?

Workshops with Amara - May 4

Amara will be teaching 2 workshops in San Diego
May 4

12:30-2:30
Workshop I - Dynamic Combinations for Any Kind of Music

Amara will drill a series of short combinations focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, isolation, and layering. Then we will rework the combinations by changing their speed, size, and quality (gooey, sharp, and shimmies) in order to assist in our visual presentation of any kind of music.
These combinations and exercises can be applied to create both choreographies and improvisations.

2:45-4:45
Workshop II - Fusion Techniques
Amara takes a unique approach to this emerging form as she presents techniques and tools on how to create Fusion with ANY dance form. Learn the differences between sequential and simultaneous fusion concepts, explore where to find various dance elements to fuse, and discuss issues of when and why to fuse.
Fusion is a great way to add to your current vocabulary, foster creativity, and push your dancing to new heights.

This workshop is appropriate for all levels and all dance forms.

Mission Valley YMCA
5505 Friars Road
San Diego, CA 92110

deb's workshop notes

big phat Thanx to you ladies who came out to the workshops this weekend. Rose and I had a really fabulous time dancin with all of ya'll... You all are incredible dancers, and very quick learners! it was such a joy to workshop with you.. Special thanx of course to juliet and kim for a fab hosting job, to heather for a brilliant night at Kava Lounge, and Medina for hosting with the mosting... .. Lookin forward to next time! :)

Here is an outline for what i created and covered in the first workskhop, to have for your practice pleasure. enjoy! I **** = my personal favorites that i incorporate in all warm ups.
xo,
deb

Core Integrated Yoga warm-up:
start lying on back, knees up. 3 part breath: belly, ribs, chest
3 part breath with pelvic tilts (keep spine, neck, jaw, relaxed)
***Pelvic clock--both directions
***Roll up/down spine (in 'up' positing, relax gluts!)
arm raises over head on floor, keeping ribcage knitted in, so working upper abds, and moving with breath

Child's pose
cat/cow
downward dog

*sitting with legs crossed--deep spine undulations
*keep tall spine, continue undulations up to down... then down to up.
*isolations of neck, chest, rib cage slides, shoulders, chest circles both directions
Side bends.
***Deb's favorite shoulder opener--taken from anusara yoga: arm bent behind back. rotate shoulder backwards, repeat. move arm farther up back. repeat. repeat. repeat. Anchor a 'tight' point with opposite hand and rotate neck away to stretch out pecs/front of neck. Do both shoulders.
***Deb's favorite mega side opener (created by deb by integrating viniyoga with own personal asana preferences):
sitting, right leg outstretched, left leg bent in, like tree pose.
To open side ribs/upper torso (viniyoga): keep low back/body upright. do not bend from hips or waste. Inhale, bend left arm 90 degrees, look up, exhale to straighten arm, side bend up and over from the ribs , and look down. repeat 4x.
Then, inhale tall spine, exhale twist spine/torso to left. scoop right hand under onto ground, and take a side bend, letting left arm come up and over. 3 part breath into L side body.
Come up. Turn and face leg. Forward bend.
Switch sides!

Standing drills:
up hips, using obliques, with foot/leg lifted off ground.
Down hips, same way.
Mayas
Omnis (pelvic clock)
Arms and Shapes.
Snake arms
weight shifting, changing leg positions. keep connected to your core.
chest roll, undulation, omi, roll up.
across the floor extension from chest/core--add arms.
across the floor: above exercise with undulation and snake arm.
across the floor: above exercise with chest circle roll down, omi roll up

Choreography: (to any slow slinky, juicy, song of your choice)
1-4 counts: arms start up over head, come down L side of body into pose, katak stance, L hip out
5: shift weight to R hip out
6: R arm out straight
7: L arm up over head straight
8: R shoulder roll
1-4: cross left foot over right to turn 360 degrees
5: step out with left foot
6-8: chest circle roll down, omi roll up
1-2; step out
3-4: undulation down then up, with snake arm
5-8 repeat that to other side
1-4: slow cross over turn
5-8: mayas, arms come up over head
1-2: pose: katak stance, arms shoulder height to the left
3-4: arms back over head
5-6: katak stance to Right, R arm comes down to side
7-8: R arm come horizontal, then back up over head
1-8: slow shiimmie, undulation, arms come down front of body.

that's all folks! hope you had fun

mwah!

Valentines Day is coming soon and Tribal SDstyle has a very special treat for you! We are teaming up with Urban Tribal Dance Company to bring you some Love for Valentines.

Mardi Love will be coming to San Diego for a show and two workshops!

It all starts on Thursday, February 14, 2008, when Urban Tribal presents a show featuring Mardi Love for you and your sweet heart at Kava Lounge. Doors open at 8pm. Show starts promptly at 8:30pm. Cover charge $10 per couple. Kava Lounge is located at 2812 Kettner Blvd, San Diego, Ca 92101. For more details on the show, visit Urban Tribal at:

http://www.urbantribaldance.com
http://urbantribaldance.tribe.net/

On Saturday February 16 and Sunday February 17, Tribal SDstyle will continue that Love'ing feeling by hosting two 4 hour workshops.

Saturday, Feb 16, 2008
Dance Place San Diego, Studio 107
2650 Truxtun Road, San Diego, CA 92106
12-4:30
Skillet of Snakes
day one delivers combinations for quicker tempos. using combinations in improvisational dance is a good way to keep your head whilst striving for variety and contrast. movements will be broken down and drilled. combinations will be joined together to form a short, original choreography. some belly dance experience highly recommended.

Saturday, Feb 17, 2008
Dance Place San Diego, Studio 105 (across from Studio 107)
2650 Truxtun Road, San Diego, CA 92106
12-4:30
The sweet and low down.
another day another dance, but today drops itself into a jar of molasses. mardi presents combinations borne out of her slow-dancin bag of tricks. new movements are introduced, as well as new takes on some basic slower moves in the tribal repertoire. some belly dance experience highly recommended.

Marula is looking for dancers to do a show featuring creative, tribal, and fusion performances in San Diego.

Saturday, May 3rd, the afternoon

Please let her know if you are interested in performing.

mnowell@ymca.org
www.gobellyfit.com/

If it inspires you to attend, I'll be presenting a new fusion dance at the event and Ya Helewa! will be performing Improvisation #2.
And I'm teaching two workshops the next day:

Workshop I - Dynamic Combinations for Any Kind of Music

Amara will drill a series of short combinations focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, isolation, and layering. Then we will rework the combinations by changing their speed, size, and quality (gooey, sharp, and shimmies) in order to assist in our visual presentation of any kind of music.
These combinations and exercises can be applied to create both choreographies and improvisations.

All levels are welcomed, but the combinations will be geared towards intermediate and advanced dancers.

2 Weeks to Go!!

I am so excited! It is only two weeks until Tribal SDstyle!

We have been really suffering here in San Diego. Everyone has been touched by the fires. Even if your home is safe- you know someone who has been evacuated or lost their home.

So, Tribal SDstyle is adding the American Red Cross Firestorm 2007 to our list of worthy charities that we are supporting. The profits of the festival will go to our charities- but we need you to pre-register for the workshops and attend the evening show to raise money for these charities.

We have a great line-up of local Tribal SD instructors- Heather Stants of Urban Tribal, Sabrina Fox, Sooz, and Steven of Atash Maya, Karen Tapia, Kirti Srivastava of Dil-Se Dance and Laura "Creatrix" Rogan.

Our evening show includes all of our teachers and our special guests Solace and Blue Damsel.

Plus we have great vendors! Bali Isle, Melodia Designs, Tribal Bazaar, Solace, Creatrix Designs, Chovhani, Gypsy Trading Post and much more yummy stuff! You will be able to buy your tribal gear, get some henna, have a massage and buy holiday presents, too.

So go to http://tribalsdstyle.com and sign up for as many workshops as you can afford, grab your tickets for the evening show and tell your friends. We can accomplish anything if we all work together.

If you can't make it to the festival, you can make a donation at
http://tribalsdstyle.eventbrite.com We will also have donation buttons up on the webpage, myspace and facebook.

We need volunteers for both days and the evening show. Please email kim at tribalsdstyle dot com to volunteer for 2-4 hour slots. We are offering special incentives for our super volunteers.

hey there,

We decided to have a raffle and our first donation is from the lovely Heather Stants. Ms. Stants has donated a copy of the Tribal Fusions DVD and will donate a class card as well. But there's a catch- you have to come to the festival and be at the evening show to win. And did I mention that our profits are going to charity,

Everyone who wants to donate- please contact me!

I am finalizing the details of the show and it wil be amazing! All our instructors will be dancing in the first half and in the second half our special guests Solace and Blue Damsel will be performing! The show and the whole weekend will be awesome. Our instructors are the best. We are so lucky to have these people in San Diego. And lucky that they are going to be at this event. All of them have been so supportive.

I hope that you are coming- because it will be a great opportunity to see some fresh stuff from everyone.

Jeremiah has a special show in store. He told me that Solace is doing something a little different.

You have got to meet Kirti, Karen, Steven, Sabrina, Sooz, Laura and Heather. They are such strong dancers and amazing professionals. Everyone of them. And all down to earth cool people.

So see you there.

Oh by the way- we have extended the dates for getting discount tickets to Nov 7. But you better pick 'em up now. Cause the prices will go up. The discount price is $10. The at the door price is $15. For pre-sale tickets, go to http://tribalsdstyle.eventbrite.com

and if you buy four or more workshops- your ticket is free. What a deal.

Volunteers Needed for Tribal SDstyle!

Alright kiddos. The fun is just a few weeks away and we are getting excited!

TSDS needs your help. We are but a few folks with big ideas, big plans and a shoestring budget. We are in need of 15 - 20 volunteers - maybe less if we have lots of Super Volunteers. We are in need of help such as:

Workshop Prep/Sign-in
Vendor Coordination
Instructor help
Misc needs
Hospitality Booth
Evening Show (various duties from ticket taker to backstage runner)

Commitment Needed
2 or 4 hours per day, but can volunteer more if you want

Remuneration
It isn't much (did I mention our budget?), but we have worked out a little something for you that gets nicer the more you hours you work. ^_~

If you are interested in volunteering, please email kim@tribalsdstyle.com for more info and scheduling.

To Bonnie for promoting every event, being the super stage manager and showering us all with the truth of the beauty with in each of us.

To Laura for being an amazing and super talented MC and all around super Hero who can break down tables and tents, brew a mean coffee and regale you with stories, jokes and one liners that keep snorting in your coffee all day long. And that's just a small sample of what this woman can do. You are one of the true visionaries of what this community can do.

To all the Dancers who danced last night or showed up and supported and continue to come to each event. You shared your time and talent. You are the backbone of this community.

And finally, my great and humbling thanks to Kim, who of everyone, has given most of her time and talents to make each event a success. She brainstormed, she spent considerably personal time on every aspect of this event, and she marshalled the resources of the community. Kim you are a super leader, super hero and a Goddess of this community.

Thanks to all of you!
