Last night we only had two in the class as husbands and partners did not allow the women out in case there were problems on the road. its so much easier to freeze and stop doing things out of fear, but the way i see it we are dancing for peace and if we didnt have this outlet we would loose our sanity. its so amazing at a time like this the effect of dance has on the mind, body and spirit.
may the people of zimbabwe, the animals and the land be in your prayers xxxxx

I am currently trying to find an ATS class in the Dorset area. I am in Weymouth, so I can see the availiability of a regular class might be a bit unlikely, however I am happy to travel Poole way, or Yeovil or whatever for workshops/long classes/weekend classes on a fairly regular basis. Even up to Bristol for a decent length workshop. I am currently improver/low intermediate level in oriental style.

It's a 3cd set, 1 Traditional and Cabaret, 2 Drum Solo and Tribal, 3 Fusion. It's been compiled by the excellent Shisha Sound System with assistance from Dawn O'Brien and me, and is released on the Nascente label. Check out www.myspace.com/beginnersguidetobellydance. It's available from Amazon, plus numerous others - the sales links are on the myspace site. IMHO it's totally fab, a real heavyweight release! Hope you like it too : )

I'm co-director and co-founder of Hipnotic Tribal Belly Dance Troupe in Chicago and I've been dancing for over 6 years now. www.hipnoticdance.com - check us out.

Anyway, I'm always looking into taking workshops, classes, etc while I'm out and about in the world.

I'll be in London from Monday, September 24th through Thursday, September 27th. I'm definitely not a beginner, so I'm wondering if there are any intermediate level course, etc that I can take for a day or two.

Due to popular demand I have decided to create a sister festival to Celebrating Dance. Celebrating Tribal will be a weekend dedicated to tribal. It will have a mainly tribal fusion theme to it and will be held over the weekend of 1-3 February 2008 at The Durrant House Hotel in Bideford, North Devon.

The festival has its own tribe - http://tribes.tribe.net/celebratingtribal and whilst details are a little sparse at the moment as I wait to hear back from potential teachers, I promise that it will be updated regularly with information as things develop.

Hi

Does anyone want to carpool from the southwest up to Raqs Britannia? I want to go for the whole thing From Fri 1.30pm with Rachel Brice though to layering with Kami at 6pm on sunday. I am between Exeter, Tiverton, Crediton & Cullompton.

This is the first time I have ever posted on tribe despite being a member for a long time so if I make mistakes in responding or if I have posted this in the wrong section please let me know and be gentle with me about it!. Here is my website for anyone who wants to contact me directly http://www.geocities.com/tatanyajardine/home

Just to introduce myself a little as my profile needs updating! I sell Afghani Tribal belts and jewellery. I am rather low on stock right now as I am about to go on a buying trip, back in early september if you want me to keep you posted on what I have. I still have the lovely red belt in the picture on the left on my website page http://www.geocities.com/tatanyajardine/afghanitribalmain.html and some of the lapis lazuli necklaces. This time I will try and post some of it to my photo album as it really is gorgeous stuff and goes very fast when I get it in. My profile says I live in the USA, but I also teach here in Devon, Exeter, Tiverton and Thorverton, as I go back and forth. I teach American fusion, sort of caberet, but with attitude! I have some good basics for tribal fusion as I trained in The San Francisco Bay Area for 6 years, so there is a lot of cross pollination. I am really good for learning technique and precise break down of isolations. I love side undulations, mayas and bodywaves. I also teach floorwork . I work with a lot of fusion music. My direct email is tatanyaj@hotmail.com and my tel. # is 01884 855415. Thanks.

Many Blessings
Tatanya

I currently take classes once a week (and cant wait for them to start again on the 8th) in Andover.

I am looking for a weekend class in and around the Andover/Tidworth/Salisbury/Basingstoke area as I have time to travel further on a weekend.

I know that Sara does classes but the Saturday classes say they are more geared to fitness.

Hope you can help

Just to let you know that I'm having a Hafla on the 20th in Basingstoke - its a Wed and the idea is that its a fairly early night, so its the perfect way to start the holiday week.. All the details are on my web site at www.letsbelldance.co.uk
There will be performance slots on a first come basis - but I also want to do a Tribal "jam" (not sure if this is the correct term) - there will be dancers from a few different local Tribes and I would like to give them a chance to dance together. Has anyone else done this ? - I am wondering what the rules need to be about leading, because obviously it would be more fun the more people can lead.... and if I should go for a piece of music that everyone knows (Solace maybe) or something more unusual.
It would be great if you could make it but also your thoughts would be very useful.
love Sara

For a first time attendee who needs to conserve energy and may need a rest during the day - where's the best place to stay.

Who is appearing? I've heard Carolena Nericcio and Tribal Pura will be there.
Is it true you can't book workshops in advance? I would be devastated to go and miss out on being taught by Carolena.
