I live with my family in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and currently work at a group home for boys in trouble with the law.

I've spent seven months on the Pacific Ocean, kayaking from Vancouver to Central Mexico, so I'm a bit salty. I look forward to being a tall ship captain.

I've been fortunate to grow up in a safe, stable environment, and have many extraordinary opportunities to travel and experience adventures.

I seek to create similar environments and opportunities for others who have not been as lucky to have a supportive a family.

Together as a tribe, I'm looking forward to being part of a family circle to serve as that support network.

Our mission is to help each other dream --- to see positive futures.

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.

Identity is accumulative based on history, however, for those with an abusive or limited past, we need to encourage seeing a new vision, looking forward to the future with all the freedom and adventure it brings.

This tribal spaceship project can be that for millions of people, allowing them to witnessing examples of people living joyously in harmony with the earth and each other.

Freedom, adventure, creation, connection. We leave home, find ourselves, discover gifts and return to share them with community.

I've experienced lots of freedom. Now I'm ready to build something solid. Thanks for your interest in taking part in this adventure.

+++++

If you join this tribe and don't introduce yourself, you will be deleted from the tribe. We all need to know who is interested.

Hi all Joshua Sultan here. Wow such a cool project, I can sense a lot of opportunity in this aspect of the Action Hero Network. I feel like it will be a uniting factor in a multinational volunteer organization.....loosley organized to serve, creativly and inspirationaly to our fellows upon the planet.
I could go into an introduction of myself now but words are escaping me a bit at the moment. so I want to share a quote I found when I returned to one of my homes after volunteering in NOLA (common ground), Chalmette (Made with Love), Buras (The Y Cafe) Louisianna after four months.
"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing." - author unknown

So let's do this.....it is part of our shared field of dreams and i support all those that dream the good dreams and strive in themselves to realize them. I am at your service.

Yeah I know I do not have a picture up.... but some ppl out there in Tribe know me as the real in person flesh and blood me. I'm so excited for the possibilities, especially getting out of here for the winter next year. Adventure, teamwork, community, & compassion, are the words I feel in my Heart when I reflect upon this. I am learning the art of the sextant....and after so more research I have learned that those who plied my craft, theater/film production in days of yore were sailors....I am also the son of a sailor, a merchant marine. So you could say I am a son of the sea, it's in my blood. When I was in chalmette I learned a lot about wireless internet, and I think I can keep us connected while we travel about. I found a book on navigating by stars, incase our gps stops working. I love cooking, I look forward to seeing how my dreams will be while out at sea. I will probably add more about my sojourning soul soon, currently im busy doing a production of cats and need some rest....

    Dreaming of the Sea
    Intro: Me

Over a year and a half ago, I had three solid options: move to Alaska and work in Fairbanks with a dogsled team/family, move to California for the unknown, or go by cargo freighter across the atlantic to Europe (and points beyond). I ended up in CA for a blessed journey of permaculture, community, activism, connection and creation. But I still dream of the sea. And after starting to dream about a mobile eco-education touring community, I'm excited to combine the two!
I've been an earth activist my whole life, ever since I wrote letters to save the dolphins and my Pa told me it didnt do any good. But we know it does, doesnt it? All those small steps. And growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I felt the lack of community, of any connection to the earth, to spirit, to each other. When I moved out east for college and met my best friend, she knew what I needed. She said: Go to Breitenbush Hotsprings, a magical community in the Emerald Oregon Forest. So I did and I was changed. And thus began a two year trek into exploration: permaculture, the intentional communities and global ecovillage networks, protesting in the streets internationally with the Global Justic Movement, opening to polyamorous relationships and love, going to Rainbow, living and working on farms in community, discovering a whole new way of being on earth, with ourselves, with each other. After that I burnt out a bit, and holed up in a house in Vermont with 8 friends, gardening, living and playing in the White and Green Mountains for 3-4 years.
Now I find myself in the paradise of California, and in an odd way, going West still means something..."Go west young (wo)man" I feel like I've arrived, and at the same time spiraled back around to myself to pick up my journey again as an earth activist/communitarian. Like this is paradise and the hub of my community, my tribe... offering learning and opportunities and inspiration like nowhere else... so I soak it up, till its time to puff back out on the wind and carry it with me to whatever corners I land in next. (someone once said: everyone should live in SF for awhile, but leave before they get soft, and in NYC for awhile, but leave before they get hard... I still plan to live in NYC again someday, after a brief stint there once upon a time- besides, mythbusting- NYC may be more "green" now than SF!) When I first moved to CA, I had the chance to do a short trip to the G8 meetings/protests in Scotland... but I'd had enough of protesting for awhile, I needed to create something, work with the positive solutions we wanted our world to become when they chanted in the streets: Another World is Possible! So I became the farm/permaculture intern at the Solar Living Institute in Hopland, took a lot of workshops, started thinking about Peak Oil and Global Weirding/Warming and how to build sustainable communities/cultures, how to bring about the necessary paradigm shift in this transitional times, these crucial years. Re-took my Earth Activist Permaculture Training with Starhawk and Penny Livingston-Stark and Erik Ohlson. And it was there I got re-inspired by the vision of a mobile permaculture eco-educational ecovillage community. My group, the PEEPS (permaculture environmental educational practitioners of sustainability, I think it was) did our design project on the concept of such a community, based on the likes of Common Vision, Rainbow Peace Caravan in South America, Sustainable Solutions Caravan Costa Rica, the Clean Fuel Coalition, etc. Not long after that I met some of the folks up in Hopland by SLI from the Common Vision crew... and pretty soon I joined them in the warehouse and hopped on the buses for Fruit Tree Tour 2006. We stayed at South Central Farm in LA (the largest urban farm in the nation, in the middle of the gang/crime ridden innercity), hosted there for two weeks during the LA portion of school planting, and during that time the protesting to save the Farm from development was heating up. Not long after Fruit Tree Tour ended, I returning to my activist self, and went back down to the Farm for the most mindblowing community experience I've ever had... people of every race, class, creed coming to work together with one common vision. I was involved in the encampment/fight for 5 weeks, and we became family. We prayed together, ate together, danced together, gardened together, spoke out together, trained and lived and acted together... it was beautiful. Still trying to keep involved from afar, living in San Rafael now, taking green building/design classes at the San Fran Institute of Architecture and trying to write a lot. Maybe go back down to LA there this winter for a bit to help out with their new nonprofit dealing with urban food security and health issues. What 'greening the city' really means when you think about social and economic justice, not just environmental justice. Then its Common Vision Fruit Tree Tour Spring 2007!!! Woo hoo! (check out our fall benefit tour this Nov 3-10 in northern cali... showing the movie made about Tour 2006, plus awesome musical guests)
And then its an eco-community on the Sea!
I'd love to write more about my own vision (esp the one we dreamed up for our EAT design project) for this kind of community/tour, but this is enough for now... I'm super excited by the potential and possibility and the bold dream... and I'd love to hear everyone elses visions so we can start co-creating this adventure of action heros uniting... Josh, I love that quote... We the willing... I love that quote, discovered it last year, I forget where.
More about me: I love writing, poetry, dancing, hiking, climbing, gardening. I'm super quiet, someday maybe I'll get over that ;) love circling with community over food and shared visions, love giving others a taste of other possibly better ways of living and exploding open peoples minds, as mine has been and continues to be by others who inspire me... showing others those three things: ways to create community, connection to spirit, to the earth, and to each other, in their lives wherever they live. To be a living example of what a joyous existence living in harmony can be. And demonstrating realistic positive solutions for a sustainable planet, a better alternative to the massmarket global mono culture being exported and hyped up all over the world. love connecting with kids (and adults) over simple acts, planting a tree, singing a song, making a meal in a solar over, whatever it may be. Looking forward...
Cant wait to meet you all, and the boat
    Peace, love,
    Brenda

      Hi guys,

Where to start, where to start. I guess you could say I'm trying to make over my life right now. I feel like I've had a fairly limited experience in life until about three years, when I attended my first Burning Man. I went to school and got good grades because I love learning, studied astrophysics for a couple of years at a big university, decided it was too dry of a career although I love the science, then studied design for a few more years. I was all set to climb the corporate ladder and be one of those married to my job types when I realized there were other ways of living. I hadn't seen anything of the world except to spend my summers in New England with family (where I learned to sail at a very young age!). I was and am enamored of travelling, so I quit my unfilfilling job that had me spending 10 hours a day in front of a computer and took off to Peru. Then I went to a Rainbow Gathering drove all over the western US. I've met so many awesome people this year, living their dreams and living lives I had not even considered.

I'm ready for a change, but the vision of what it is has not come to me yet.

That's my life, now about me. I'm very passionate. I have a lot of enthusiasm for learning, art, nature and travel. I'm seeking like minded folks to join me on my adventures and inspire me, and hopefully I have some wisdom and positive energy to share. I'm not totally on board with this project yet, mostly because it feels like a very big commitment and I'm not sure where I am going. I am interested, however, and thought I'd join this tribe based on my interest being piqued.

Yes! What a lovely idea! The perfect combination of community, friendship, exploration, travel, adventure, and nesting all at once!

I am very interested in this project...would be willing to contribute fundz and energy...and volunteer to be the (or one of the) on board masseuse-yoga goddesses.

Um...about me? Born and raised in Montana, many years in Alaska...my family is in both places....

I've spent the last number of years geo-exploring, journeying, studying, being...and am now in the mood to continue this flow...but with a semi-nest (or more than one nest) situation. Sustainable living, healthy food, good air, clean water, and loving companionship has become more and more of a priority for me.

The itinerary sounds perfect...though I am flexible.

Am looking forward to seeing the gathering of beautiful spirits that evolves here in this situation.

    abrazos, Carie

Each of you are caring, passionate, curious, fun, smart and beautiful. The way I see.... with a crew like this... no matter what we do... it is going to be a wild success!

Yesterday, I was talking to James, the owner of the schooner, and he said he could train us over one month next summer, then we could take it out ourselves. Don't worry if you don't have a background in sailing, just know how to take orders.

I've sailed a bit off the coast of Oregon, California and across the sea of Cortez, but I'm no captain. I will be working toward getting a captain's lisence with the help of James, and I hope some of you go for it too. James ownes cabins near where the boat is docked, and we could live there and help him with that business as we train on the boat.

I'm on the couch with my laptop. Time to toss in Whale Rider and snuggle with V.

I had too much time last week to play on tribe... sorry for writing so much!

Just wanted to say this time- I'm excited at the crew coming together.
And I'd love to see yoga on board!

I'm busy till early May, but I may have a few free months (mid Dec-mid Feb) to play with- I may be in LA volunteering for the farm nonprofit, but if possible I'd love to check out Roblito and Punta Mona, Costa Rica, for a taste of both before diving into this adventure next summer.

What can I offer? Cor, when we're at James', I'd love to help him in the gardens or with his biz/land in whatever way. And I'd like to see about working towards a captains license, or at least starting to learn, I admit I dont have much water or sailing experience.

Adorable photo of you, Amanda. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to post the photo of me at the wheel... sailing out to Catalina Island on the Pilgram of Newport.

Glad you're lovin' each other. I'm stoked you all are showing up. I spoke with SJ on the phone last weekend for a couple hours... we where both on working night shifts at group homes... him in Boston, me in Saint John. He's a great guy. Very grounded. Solid. Most of us seem to be in the same place, dreaming the same dreams. The real magic will happen when we get together. That's the big thing... we need to love being together. If we have not talkled on the phone get, send me your phone number, and I'll call you. I have free calling in Canada and the US.

Working with my father today in the wood lot, I told him about this project, and he's into it. I really appreciate how supportive my folks are of my visions, no matter how wild, like my kayak trip. They never tell me not do what I want to do.

I currently live in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and I've lived in Newfoundland, Cape Breton, Vancouver Island, and Saltspring Island over the past 10 years. I'm an island-ocean-mama, and I don't last too long away from sea, and have a deep urging to travel the world by sea.

so this idea is absolutely perfect for me: community and travel at sea in one - beautiful!
i have been living and working in community for as long as i can remember, from katimavik across canada, to tribal harmonix in the lower mainland bc, to the salt spring yoga centre, to my most recent internship in commmunity economic development, where i learned how to start-up and run community co-ops. so i could definitely help in the organizational/administrative/financial end of things - seek out some start-up funds, and make sure the books are in order.

i'm at the moment part of the conflict resolution co-op here on the island, as a way to get some conflict res/mediation skills, which i naturally have, but would like to add some more techniques to my tool kit.

i'm a writer and poet and would love to be in charge of documenting our adventures, get us profiled in some sailing mags and what not. plus, it's in my stars to write a book soon ...

i'm also a dancer and yogini, looking to get my yoga teacher's certification in the spring, and i'm currently certified to teach to children. so i could certainly contribute in the body-movement, daily warm-up scheme of themes. i'm also working on recruiting my room-mate - who's a massage therapist - to come join us.

my vision is a gathering of committed individuals who can contribute the finances and the energy to get the space ship up-and-running. to come together on guidelines that would work for everybody, but allow freedom for peeps to come and go, knowing that the structure would always hold, if it is based on strong values and sound guidelines.

i'm heading over to saint john this weekend to meet with cor and some others, possibly go see the boat. wow, i'm really glad this is happpening and i believe in it with all my heart.

    blessed journeys,
    Kelli MA

Re: meeting to talk about this in person

I just wrote this in another thread -

Hey, thanks Cor for calling me. I want to introduce myself - my name is Kate and I live in Oakland, CA right now. I am definitely interrested in what you are creating and hope that I can join you down south in Roblitos this winter to collabroate. I am older - in my 50's, but young at heart. I just retired from UC Berkeley and have a few dollars to create a new life. I feel I am led to where I am supposed to go and I accidentally (ha) found your tribe. I will hopefully bring some kin with me in my new ('73 Dodge Travco) motorhome. I will also bring a video camera so that I can co-create something while down there. Let me know what else I can bring. I look forward to meeting everyone. As the Mayans say - we are the ones we have been waiting for. Happy that we have synchronistically found each other so that we can create the kind of life and living style that we have dreamed about and then share it with others. Blessed be.

    Much love & light,
    Kate - the purple one.

This doesn't give you much detail of who I am - who am I? Well, I have been married twice and have 3 kids. My son, Michael, is the youngest (23) and is very close to me. My two girls are about 10 years older and have their own lives. Michael lives with me (and currently his girlfriend, Cerrithwen, too). I am envisioning him joining me on adventures that I now seek in life. Time will tell.

I was born in Ann Arbor, MI, raised in Lincoln, NB until the age of 14 and then moved to Branford, CT. There I met my first boyfriend who was from a sailing family - where I learned to love the sea. I have lived since then in Toronto, ONT., all around New Hampshire, Halifax, NS, Pheonix, Sedona & Flagstaff, AZ and now Oakland, CA. I love it in the bay area - I've been here 8 years and it is time to leave before I get too soft. I've been searching for community and have found some kin, but folks are spread out and land is not coming together here in Cali. I think some of them would be interested in what you are creating as well. I will let you know about them once I talk to them...

Back to me, I was a hippie back in the day and have gone back to those roots after years in the system trying to raise the kids as a single mom. Now I have been given the gift of freedom and want to collaborate with beautiful souls like yourselves. Community is essential as we go through the major cosmic shift in 2012. And I feel we need to come together to make our dreams successful, because together we can do anything. I am a Cancer, Cancer rising and Capricorn moon and a blue overtone hand in the Dreamspell. So, I am a nurturer and a doer. I know I have many talents I have not even tapped yet. I look forward to meeting all of you this winter. It's so exciting!!! It's interesting - I've spent all of this time in the bay and I only had a winter on a sailboat - then my friend moved. I love to sail!!! And I want to learn how to surf, so get ready for the water woman to appear in her new adventurous life.

hi, wow awesome posts so far, a lot of reading, i will have to catch up but i sense we are sharing a similar vibe.

        this is my l'il addition:

i have the sense where i yearn to be rooted and nomadic. rooted in that i have a series of cool shelters on land in a cute community of others who share the land and the tending to it all, we are the type where these shelters are set up simply and you just move in even if it is temporarily, with you own little satchel of special personal goo to make it homey, until it is time to move on. via the cool sailboot/schooner being discussed, as well overland by route of alt. fuel bus(es)....what i envision weaving is a really cool route which intertwines with these kinds of eco conscious communities all over the planet, providing edutainment all along the way.

        permaculture
        liberty in the pure sense
        awakening

this is a journey i am making more and more into who i am ...

it is a challenge to step away from mainstream society even more, but i know that it needs to happen for me personally....i know that the consciousness of all inhabitants on the planet are craving this, even if they may be unaware. perhaps not the joining the circus and travelling all around the globe raising consciousness in some kind of psychedelic and rather colourful fun way, but definitely freeing ourselves from the illusion.

        YEAH!!!!!!

well, i currently reside on the wet coast of british columbia. right now i am dreaming of getting a house to hunker down for the winter in and do some top secret projects. plus, hoping to get a bus, convert it to run on veggie oil in whatever is the most beneficial way (ive heard varied reports), dial in the interior for fully pimped-out comfort, and next summer be mobile!!! what this thing needs is solar panels, a passive solar hot water heating system, a cute kitchen/juice bar, a method for recycling the grey water, special container gardening space, a worm composter, ... i hope to scour junkyards for most of the materials, plus other recycling type situations, and set it up for as little money as possible....

there is much to look forward to and i am grateful for these awesome online connextions i have made, pointing me in the direction i yearn to be heading in....

so, here i am at the next major turning point.......uh...good journies to all!!!!

im also stoked that mult generations represent!!!

          im young at heart

i have a seven year old son who currently lives mostly with his dad in saskatchewan. but i dream of travelling with him and him learning thru doing and high adventures...maybe when he is a bit older!!! that will be fun...

community is super important...i have my momments where i yearn for solitude, which is why i envision private types of shelter as well as more shared situations...you know?!

thank you ... together we can create something new, different, beneficial for ALL...

              Thank you all for sharing.

There are still others in this tribe who have not introduced themselves. It is important to do so, so please add your intentions to this thread, even if you are unsure what your part will be. My main concern is that we all really like each other. Things will develop naturally with time, but I think that if we all see how great this crew is, we'll want to work and play together. It's not about the ship. It is about us, and how powerful we'll be together.

So let's hear from you if you have not introduced yourself yet.

    Hello,
Im currently working and living in Orange County CA. Im living in a comunity where no one can even name the people they live next to.Where money will buy you everything except the really important thing in life. Needless to say I dont fit in here.Im moving up north in January.
Community and family are very important to me and Im very interested in learning how to live "Off the grid" so to speak. I was part of the Evolutionary center this year at Burningman and hope to help that expand into something greater. I have traveled to some really interesting places and my travels are far from over. My intentions are to learn a trade I can take anywhere in the world. (Accupressure) Learn how to create sustanable comunities, and then educate and improve the standards of living across the world. I know my part will probably be small, but its the little things that really count. I came here because I am really inspired by my friend Raphael's journey across the seas which is quite similar to what this tribes intention seems to be. You can read his adventures here
    people.tribe.net/rafaelo/b...9cc99e510c
Its not easy to contact him right now but he is defintily someone who we should try to get on board at some time.

    Cor:

In the invitation, you said this:

    > Picture living like Peter Pan in perpetual dream-time; exploring all over the planet; wild parties at sea and remote places;

You and I have very similar visions. I am looking at someday gathering a community and traveling the world on a ship. I found a beautiful 300' cruise ship on sale at a cut-rate price. Unfortunately, it was prohibitively expensive to move or maintain.

I'm also thinking about the idea of buying an island. This is much simpler and easier for a lot of reasons, and could even provide a good return on investment. At the moment, I'm looking into the possibility of raising $270,000 towards the 50% down payment on a Nicaraguan island.

I'm mostly in this tribe to share ideas with like-minded people.

Though, I'll encourage you to also join my tribe : tribes.tribe.net/floatingman

But, I am considering the possibility of joining some other crew to gain boating experience before going ahead with my own plans.

Joining up with you could be a possibility. I'm also vaguely considering joining the very interesting, and slightly insane, floating neutrinos.

    Nice to meet you all.

I realized that I talked about our similar visions, but after reading everyone else's intros, I realized I didn't actually say much of anything about myself.

I grew up in Oakland. Went to school at Santa Cruz, and got a degree and a half in computer science.

I was moving up the corporate ladder working for Sapient in SF and at one point even wore a tie. But when the dot-com bust happened, I was actually thrilled to lose my job and get a good severance package. I took off for a 3-6 month trip through Asia, but just couldn't find a reason to come back to SF and find another job. I've been pretty much on the road for the past 5 years.

      Here's my website:
      www.geekeasy.com

Now, I have found a new tech job. I took like a 80% pay cut from my old salary, but now I set my own hours and can work anywhere in the world that has an internet connection. I've spent the past year alternating between Cairo, Copenhagen, Dahab and Berlin, usually working about 2 hours a day. I'm in Egypt now, I just got back to Dahab last week.

    Yes Yez
So my story, well I grew up in your typical american programmed child hood environment in the lovely ole Southeaster USA, with always an underlining hope that something was better out there for me, visions of many grand adventures and events transpiring along the path of my travels, but always being force fed what was infront of me and deciding to eat it simply because I still needed to survive.

Too poor and not enough attention span for institutional college I somehow found myself in a Coast Guard Recruiting office before I even graduated high school and signed up for 4 years. Straight in the military after school, 2 years later married, 5 years after we have child together, when Seth was 2 we seperated and him and his mother moved to the east coast. I reside in the Seattle Area. I am no longer in the service but I did 10 years and this does not qualify me to run or work on a sail boat for I know almost nothing about sailing, but am quick to learn, follow and give orders and am very use to living on a boat and in tight quarters. I have traveled a lot of places of the south pacific, many, many islands and mexico and the bering straights as well. Rode 3 days straight here a couple days there etc.. in 50 foot seas doing 35 degree rolls in alaska during crab season (did this for 4 years every season). My skills from the coast guard include an array of things but mainly weapons, ammunition, electronics (although I really don't know much nor even like working with) and administration and organization, supply and shipping, hazmat control and the list goes on. None of it I really liked doing.
The seperation between my wife and I was mostly due to intense awakenings I began to have and my partner not being able to handle the rapid growth. Undoubtlely I could have done things different than I did but never mind that it is the past which I do not wish to live in and we have been both healing for 1 1/2 years since then. Me my consciousness has been blown open with so many amazing people and events. Rainbow Rhastas is where I wet my feet also Seattle underground visionary art and electronic music scene was where I really started to network with alot of crew. Plugged in with amazing healers and shamans. Have been studying and practicing Shamanic GemStone Therapy for a year. I have discovered amazing ways to work with therapeutic quality stones to heal ALL aspects of the body. I also practice with sound, reiki, aromatherapy and currently am going through massage school, opened up my heart to what it has been calling for my whole life.
I love the sea and love your vision and have had pretty much the same vision of having a sea worthy platform to spread magic and love to anyone who will receive it. I know this post may seem scrambled but I am juggling right now. So anyway I have school until mid july so I don't think I can even spare time for this project at this time but who knows maybe I'll jump onboard late or offer services in some way, at least good intentional vibes.

    peace

Sij, Adam... great to have you both in this circle. Who knows what will come of all this, but with the powers we have here... I'm very encouraged. I'm on my last hour of this night shift, and I still need to swab the deck..... I mean... mop the floors. At the moment, there's a history show on the TV about pirates. I'll swab and watch and dream about the day I'll be with you all on the high seas. I cashed a pay check last night, and shall use it for my flight to Mexico in January. Hope many of you save your coin too and will meet me there. We got a sweet house we can live in for free as long as we need. This is what I'm working for... and to make a difference with these boys here, of course. However since taking this job I've had no social life on the weekends. I'm just looking forward to Mexico and those good times to come, which will be worth it. Luv ya'll. Thanks for making my dreams come true. I hope to help do the same for you.

Hi everyone. my name is Mark. I hope to join the ship for a short time next year. i live in Oaxaca. If the ship is near, my wife, 2 year old, and I hope to spend up to a month sailing. my wifes a great mexican cook but not too strong to work on deck. i have great skills fixing things and working with wood. We have a busy life here in Mexico. So permanant living would not be an option for us. but we look forward to coming aboard once or twice a year, and of course paying whatever is appropriate.

        Hello all,
I'm Chris from the states; literally; I have been traveling back and forth across this country for more than 15 years; mainly as a cross country truck driver. The idea of intentional community is relatively new to me; basically community period. I have been a very solitary person much of my life. I call the SF bay area home (when I'm there). I am a burningman ranger, and credit the BM project for very vast expansions as to my view of the world and what is ~important~! Up until discovering Bm, I was very much a member of the consumer conciseness; no more! In July I left a job I had held since 1998 as a driver; largely due to the fact I could no longer support the military complex; I was hauling aircraft parts for the F-15, contracted by Boeing. I will be joining the robilto crew in Jan, and very much look forward to learning more about the action hero network. It was your endeavors after Katrina that landed you visionaries on my radar!

My name is Stuart from Nova Scotia, Canada. I currently work at a GM dealership as a automotive technician. I am 23 years old in which have always wanted to travel the world by boat. I have little experience in sailing, only one summer I have sailed a wooden sailboat called the Y-Flyer off the shores of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. I enjoyed it greatly and hope to continue sailing in the future.
Lately I have been busy rebuilding a 92 Jeep YJ, to prepare itself back on the road, where it has been a offroad 4x4 vechicle for the past couple years. She is geting close to completion. I also attend boxing classes twice a week to keep myself fit and healthy. its a very good exercise, one of the best for the body I was told. I like to say it works every muscle.
For traveling, I have travelled all across Canada except up North on a program called Katimavik, this is a government exchange program where you live with 11 other participants and one leader in which you've voluteered at a non-profit organization. This is over 3 provinces of Canada. So living with 12 people in a 3 bedroom house sounds similar to 12 peple living on a boat. So i think it for sure can be done.
So with saying all that I am interested in the idea of living like pirates, so lets see what happens.

From Dec 2005 to May 2006 I was on a cape dory 28. Most of this time was spent in florida, but I left the boat in Guatemala's rio dulce.

I am now working, and I currently live in yellow springs, ohio, US.

Hi all. A very large group for a 45 ft boat. I am interested in joining this summer (2007?). I live in Rhode Island and have a small 25 ft sailboat, limited sailing skills. Striving to have a life filled with adventure and intentional unconventional community. Working conventionally while trying to decide how best to live a seafaring life. Like Adam, also considering joining the Neutrinos for awhile, and interested in Adam's island idea on some level. My fantasy, to create a tribe of radical seafaring folks, in ships of various sizes, who agree to entertain mutual projects and gatherings throughout many years. Perhaps, we create a flag symbol to hang on our masts so we can recognize one another and other group/community affiliations.

Hi Bonnie! My mom's family is from RI. Isn't it true that just about everyone there has a sailboat? I spent all my summers in Rhode Island and that's where I got my love of sailing. My aunt used to work as a chef on a yacht so I got to hang out a lot in Newport at the yacht club, also sailing out of Jamestown and Barrington.

Hey Amanda, nice central america trip! While any generalization is total BS I'll make one. I grew up in RI and find myself back here by odd circumstances over past few years. There are two basic types of people in RI--the yachties or "blueblazers" and the people who work for them in various ways--chefs like your aunt, boatwrights, marine mechanics, etc. Growing up blue collar in RI we goofed on the blueblazers. My group of friends realized that it was quicker to get places across the bay by boat than by driving, and that there was no age limit (maybe 12 years old) on piloting a boat, so we all had the most junky fixer upper little motorboats that we commandered and tinkered with in early teens. Flip a coin to see who swims to shore from rogue mooring. Did not get into sailing until 5 years ago, wind is free and better for environment.

I guess this tinkering background has led me to focus on the practical aspects of the D'sonoqua adventure. I have been thinking about plan to spend 2008 winter on boat in sea of cortez. Maybe a more experienced sailor can speak up if I am off track here. So sailing the boat from New Brunswick to West Coast mexico involves a panama canal crossing and, though we will be coast huggers, some tricky spots on intercoastal waterway and through canal. A concrete boat is solid but slow, maybe max 5 knots which means maybe max 100 miles per day pushing it. Can we plan at least three months for this trip, so start in October at least? I'm wondering how many experienced sailors are part of this thread and willing to spend at least some time helping us crew during the passage? Any thoughts?

              Bravo folks!!!!

This project sounds like a fantastic thing.... we would love to have all of you join us over at the Gaian Sailing Fleet, the idea being that if one boat doing things like this is good, then why not make a fleet of them.

We're pretty loose over there, no rules or regulations and people come and go as they like so I could really only speak for my own dreams/plans.... so as an introduction I'll go ahead and share.

I liveaboard Tabula Rasa a 33' 1975 Ranger 33. Fin Keel Fiberglass over wood, she's a good offshore boat and is certainly a wonderfull first boat for me. I'm no stranger to ships/sailing, I got my start in the Navy and am a US Merchant Mariner working in the Gulf of Mexico now.

My dream, is to be a part of a great community of life long sailors traveling the world and living in honor of the world and all it's inhabitants. Ideally in coordination with intentional communities on land around the world. To that end I bought my first sailboat and have been giving her the TLC needed to make her a good permanent home... if not for me then for someone who walks (or sails) a paralel path (tack). I ultimately am working towards purchasing a larger sail boat (56 foot full keel or bigger), and my goal will be to use it as a floating home where I will live out the rest of my days wandering the world with those I love by my side.

In addition I have been entertaining the idea of founding a sailship shipyard likely in South America or the Philipines, to build workboats for local communities and sailing vessals for those who would preffer a life at sea.

It warms my heart seeing people with similar goals and dreams... that is mainly why I made the Gaian Sailing Fleet, to provide a flag for all of us to fly under. (Incidentally it's the globe flag ;P )

I'll keep track, and maybe when you sail into the Caribbean I'll have Tabula Rasa there waiting to come along side and share with ya some of my grog.

I just found this tribe today and am interested in learning a little more about everybody and your project. As for me, I currently live on Padre Island and work on a chemical tanker, mainly keeping to the West Coast lately. I have a lifetime of seagoing experience, both as a sailor and a merchant mariner. From surfboards to supertankers, I love 'em all, but tallships are where its at. I have a lot of questions but will hold off on them until I've had a chance to sift through the archives a bit more.
If anyone else here has worked tallships or in the merchant fleet pipe up, maybe we've crossed paths.

    The whole project sounds great.
I have a frined of 63 who used to be a pro-engineer on military ships,
now he's turned hippy, vegetarian then vegan since 30 years, & has built a place to receive 'tourists'
in the Mescalito fields of Mexico. When he comes back I'll try to interest him.
We'd be a great duo for you guys (&gals).
