So, I decided to buy a cheap trike for the playa and spotted one on Craigslist for about $180
It looks great and seems to be in good mechanical order but when I ride it, it it seems very unsteady and wobbly.
Is this the nature of a trike or is this because I bought a very cheap one?
It looks very similar to the Schwinn ones I have seen on Amazon.com
Maybe I will get used to it... let's hope so as I'm putting a kids seat on the back to carry my daughter.
Thanks.
Phil

Re: Wobbly trike
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 11:11 PMThe cheap trikes can be pretty flexy in the frame for heavy riders. But if its really bad look for a cracked weld where tubes join. Are the headset and wheel bearings adjusted snug? That can throw in wobble if they're loose for sure. Trikes rock, I've got a new one under construction for the playa...not quite done! eeeeeep! time is getting short. -

Fri, August 14, 2009 - 10:58 PMI replaced the front wheel which was pretty out of shape, this made it a lot more strudy.
Just gotta get the shade caonopy put on the back now to project my daughter... -

Re: Wobbly trike
Tue, August 18, 2009 - 12:31 PMon the street, an adult trike may creep back and forth because the rear wheels have no camber to them. And on streets that are crowned (the top is taller than the edges) you have to constantly re-steer a trike a bit to the left to counteract it going 'downhill'. that may make it seem a little wobbly.
or it could be that the wheels are out of true. or the tire is not seated properly in the rim.
