I'm just watching the briefings for these on the NASA channel, but here are releases provided by Space.com.
Moon water:

Mars water:
www.space.com/scienceastr...ter-ice.html
These findings could make setting up bases a bit more palatable (or potable, as the case may be).

Re: Water on the Moon; water on Mars
Thu, September 24, 2009 - 2:56 PMAnd on the subject of bases, here is the assembly of the Ares I-X booster in preparation for its launch on Halloween.
www.youtube.com/watch
The Ares family of heavy booster rockets are the successors to the Saturn series of Project Apollo, and are the launch vehicles of the Constellation program, designed to return humans to the Moon and then on to Mars. It is highly likely the whole program will be cancelled due to budget issues. Just like the Europeans cancelled exploration of the New World. Oh, wait...

Further finding of water on the Moon
Fri, November 13, 2009 - 3:18 PMThis really does surprise me. It sounds like there may be a lot of water (ice) on the Moon. Hiding in the shadows...
"Permanently shadowed regions could hold a key to the history and evolution of the solar system, much as an ice core sample taken on Earth reveals ancient data. In addition, water, and other compounds represent potential resources that could sustain future lunar exploration."

Re: Further finding of water on the Moon
Fri, November 13, 2009 - 10:48 PMI have for years now longed to grow up to be one of Bob Heinlein's ice miner Loonies. See "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Robert Anson Heinlein. I would even put up with the discomfort implied by the statement, "I've always thought that the term "common cold" referred to the state of an ice miner's feet." We have to accept the burdens of office even as we relish the fame and privileges.
With love under will,
Bob, Adastra,

Re: Further finding of water on the Moon
Tue, November 17, 2009 - 7:19 PMActually... reading it I saw
'For five years the Froth Blowers extolled Britishness and "Lubrication in Moderation". Their song The More We Are Together, an adaptation of Oh du lieber Augustin specially written by the pseudonymous Irving King, [2] was heard everywhere.
Ancient Order of Froth Blowers Handkerchief, details below
The more we are together, together, together
The more we are together
The merrier we'll be.
For your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends,
And the more we are together
The merrier we'll be."
Masonic Lodges often have their own song.. and that is sung at several of Melbournes lodges....
