The concept for Tutu Tuesday originated with its creator’s new year’s resolution to wear a tutu every Tuesday for the entire year. Carla Tutu, set her stake in the Burning Man tradition of Tutu Tuesday while by chance donning a tutu at a New Years Day party (Stompy/Sunset), which happened to fall on a Tuesday this year. Having so much fun gallavanting about the city in her tutu every week, she decided that others should join the party and began planning the first Tutu Tuesday. Paige Smith, web designer for the San Francisco Ballet Company, designed the Tutu Tuesday logo which has been stamped on stickers, temporary tattoos and even $2 dollar bills in spirit of the event. Dirtybird Justin Martin posed in the Japanese Tea Garden for the party’s first flyer and each flyer features a resident DJ in a different setting, sporting a hot pink tutu.
