Yes, my friends, we come to the end of an era... the very last ever performance of "Uke-y Stardust". It's been a time, but on June 16th at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco (www.rickshawstop.com/) we kill the fucker dead, for good.
This show is gonna be something else. We've stuck a full set of OTHER David Bowie material on the beginning, spanning his whole career and then we close the show with his glam rock masterpiece, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" from beginning to end. Even if you've seen it before, there are new bands, new arrangements, new costumes, new simulated sex acts, new instruments... It ain't your momma's Ziggy. (Though in a way it's like your grandma's, except for the whole... nevermind.)
All of it on ukulele.
For the very last time.

Mon, June 4, 2007 - 5:55 PM"we kill the fucker dead, for good."
You mean you haven't killed him/it already?
: )
But seriously, I am despondent beyond mope that I will not be able to attend Uke-y Stardust's Wake... damn prior arrangements... I will have to wait to see you in performance until your next Uke-inspired masterpience, whether it be a Flukewood Mac/Tusk Tribute, a Ukeustic only night (would that be "Unpluked?), a Sweeney Todd recital, or whatever... I look forward to seeing future performances by all of you...

Re: Uke-y Stardust - The Final Chapter
Wed, June 6, 2007 - 6:17 PMyou mean you want to be kicked in the testicles for having the idea of an Easter "Jesus Christ Superstar" singalong? That sounds like a heresy...

Re: Uke-y Stardust - The Final Chapter
Wed, June 6, 2007 - 11:46 PMWhy should you want to know?
Don't you mind about the future
Don't you try to think ahead
Save tomorrow for tomorrow
Think about today instead
I could give you facts and figures
I could give you plans and forecasts
Even tell you where I'm going

Re: Uke-y Stardust - The Final Chapter
Thu, June 7, 2007 - 6:06 PM"Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)
Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time
So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
And mostly here's a toast
To you and me
So here's to the ginger lei
I give to you today
And here's a kiss
That will not fade away "
I usually don't espouse violence as a matter of course, and "Tiny Bubbles" doesn't really do it for me either, so I suggest that anyone who plays the above lyrics on ukulele in public (or in the unconsensual presence of a member of this tribe) be given a 100 second running start and then the undesired listeners of said song run, en masse, in the opposite direction... -

Sun, June 17, 2007 - 9:49 PMI heard nothing but positive things from the audience. No sooner was I at the bar after the gig than a guy asked me where he could talk to someone from 5 Cent Coffee (hope you got a gig out of that). Thanks for herding all the cats, Kelly. -
