Why does it come and go?

... the flow?

Moments of surrendered, open-hearted blossoming.
Many more months of closed, tight, pain.

Memories of the open seem to make the closed-feeling all that more... constricted.

I don't know how to make the pendulum stop swinging to and fro.

the ebb and flow is a normal part of the gig me thinks. and, we do have some choice as to where we hang out and spend most of our time. but i dont know that the pendulum is meant to stop swinging. i think it only does that when we're done.

Trying to stop ebbing and flowing is like trying to stop the tides. It ain't gonna happen. Abraham Lincoln once asked an Illusionist to tell him one true thing, one thing that was always true, no matter what. The illusionist answered, "This too shall pass."

That said, if you're only having moments of open-hearted blossoming, but months of something else, pay close attention to those moments. They are gifts given to you to learn from. And those months, those are also gifts given to you to learn from. How else would you learn to become an open channel by something other than accident? So observe without judging and learn from both of these places. Use them to evolve. Be grateful for them. Circumstances change. Things come and things go. The pendulum is not going to stop swinging. It's up to you to stop swinging. You may never achieve that totally ... but you'll never know if you don't try. Either way, with practice, learning and experience, you are bound to get better at it.
