We will no longer wait for some fake elected "AMERIKKKAN OFFICIAL" to liberate us. We hereby TRANSFORM OURSELVES into our own superheros, villains, and heroines, liberating ourselves NOW from the track lit tomb of bureaucrappic politics. Do we want to spend our precious energy revolting against a system that’s designed to crush our very resistance, or do we want another alternative altogether? I’d rather party down during the apocalypse then spend my life force playing by someone else’s rules in a game I bound to lose!

Election Day (Tuesday Nov. 4th) is fast approaching, and we want to make a cosmikataclysmic statement this year. The puppets in charge are just that- puppets. They are put there to give us the illusion of free will and a choice. This somehow placates people into thinking if they just cast their vote, they are playing their obligatory cultural part in the grand political play. Why would we dain to participate in the grandest puppet show of all time? (Can you say, “Illuminaughty, Oil Tycoon, Corporation, and Freemason?”) Because we’ve been programmed to think that somehow our vote makes a difference. While this may be true to some small degree, more and more- voting machines are becoming rigged by the Republicans, and the popular vote doesn’t amount to dog dookie. Corporations have more rights than individual citizens.

If you think that a 2 party system is any kind of choice, the revolution is here to prove you wrong. If voting changed anything, it would be illegal. We do however support you getting out there to vote for whatever degree of change it’s capable of enacting, but we also hope that you’ll go in costume to show your support for alternative freedom not dependent on our two spoon-fed choices and the linear, rational, anti-intelligence of modern humanity’s monotony. COMMIT CRIMES AGAINST MONOTONY NOW!!!!

I vote for a giant army of anonymous clowns, costumed superheros and supervillains, and massive zombie walks to the polls and through the streets and stores with creative protest signs and a fire in your gut urging to do things you never thought were possible in public. Anarcho-political street theatre (with props!) videotaped and photographed in L.A., New York, San Francisco, Tucson, AZ, and anywhere else our agents of chaos spring up and call the troops into action. We already have our agents stationed in these major cities, so if you would like to participate on Election Day, send a quick note of inquiry to the contact below with your city, and we will disclose the various locales closer to the date. We are presently coagulating this vision, so if you have any artistic and organizational ideas, please feel free to share. And pass this invite along! I’d like to give you a personal account about the necessity of costume as psychic armor. For a long time, I attracted feds and security guards like flies to honey. They could smell my anti-authority streak and went right for my throat. I was usually able to smooth talk my way out of these situations or otherwise escape but walked away shut down from my creative expression and very upset. However, when I started wearing costume, something amazing occurred. The cops started to like me. In fact, they thought I was so cute they started taking pictures of me and with me, and not mugshots either. My intuition about the necessity of costume was proved correct, as I found a way to completely throw the trail off of my malicious intent and hatred for pigs. Pigs became my cohorts in fake crime! The last thing you want to do in this art battle is get a pig who wants to smash your face into the pavement, and I’m telling you, COSTUME AND NO FEAR IS THE WAY!!!!! Subvert them with humor! If you are caught in the midst of some anti-patriot anarcho spectacle, FREEZE! Literally! Don’t move! What a beautiful vision of motionless clowns and impotent feds who can’t arrest anyone who’s not doing anything against the law!

indicates that their "Mission to Mars" Decompression event will
commence ticket sales on or about August 18th at 12:00 noon.

The following detailed information was gathered:

The ticket sales are tiered, according to amount sold.

All tickets will be sold online--no ticket sales at the door.

First tier of So-Cal Decom Tickets will sell for $20 each,
with a limit of two tickets per Paypal account.

This will be an "All Ages Event," but there is no discount for
children's tickets. Everyone pays the same price in each tier.

Unifier video at Burning Man!

On Wednesday at 10pm we'll be showing video of Unifier from Elysium 08, plus video from previous events. We'll also show video of Phoenix Projekt, Flametamers, and other SD events and parties.

We'll be in open camping, very close to Center Camp, probably on the 6:30 side. Look for the 36 foot by 12 foot triptych video screen, along with our 40 foot Bluebird bus, an 18 foot tall lighted cactus, and a 20 foot black light mural of a desert scene.

We'll post our exact address after we get there, on the 21st.

Can't wait to see those of you that will be there! Hope the rest of you have a good week and Labor Day weekend!

Her big fundraiser every year is a party at The Playboy Mansion in LA.

She's having a pre-party at a great estate home in La Jolla Mar 29th.

She need about 3 female spinners to perform 2 sets at the Brazilian Carnaval theme
party (poolside?) on Fri the 29th.

For safety she wants lit (electrical lights) spinning, rather than
fire poi. Maybe she could be convinced to allow fire since I know you guys
are pretty safe.

It would be for no direct pay but if the performers

Consider it a try out of sorts. The Mansion party is probably upwards of $1500 value
each since transportation, hotel and access to the mansion would all be taken care of.

We want to let you know about a new source of arts funding for performers and creators working in San Diego county: the Sator Arts Foundation.

Applications for major (up to $3000) and minor (up to $1000) grants will be available on January 18, 2008, for awards to be announced on May 17, 2008. In preparation for our inaugural funding cycle next year, the SAF is contacting groups at both the local and state levels, hoping to raise awareness of the new opportunities we provide. Please forward this announcement to any artists and performers you know who need funding, or to anyone else you think may wish to know about our programs.

"Sator" is the Latin word for "Sower," a person who scatters seeds. We chose this name because we hope to spread funding for artistic projects in the formative stages of production, especially those that have not yet received major grants from other sources. In particular, the Sator Arts Foundation dedicates its funding seeds or grants to the production of specific projects, in any creative medium, that interrogate the distance between "artists" or "performers" on the one hand, and "audience" or "consumers" on the other. We fund work in any modality that fosters interactivity, prompts people to play together, and enlivens community bonds through creative exchange. In so doing, the SAF seeks to foster the emergence of an inclusive local arts culture, in which the artworks themselves intrinsically authorize the community to interpret, to participate, and to engage with the creative impulse. Individuals, collaborators, and collectives are eligible to apply.

Performance Reminder

Hello Everyone-

I hope you all can make the debut of "Roots," a dance I have choreographed around my sculptures. The flyer is attached, but if you can't read it, the shows will be this Thursday and Friday, November 29 and 30 @ 8:00 pm (a pre-show performance will be at 7:30) on the SDSU campus. Directions to the theater are below. There is a $10 fee for admission that will go to support the dance department and technical support. Please come and see what I have been up to the past few months.

Artist Statement

My work is alive and in action. It has a heart that beats in time with the community for which it is made; a heart that pumps energy and expression- the life-blood of performance. The work is an active part of rituals that serve to bring people together, consolidate awareness, or focus spiritual power. It is not passive or waiting to be used, it is the locus of activity. To refer to the objects I create as "props" would be a great misconception, for they are so much more alive than a mere support
My art comprises a variety of materials and dimensions; it may be a sculptural form in metal or wood, or something time-based, as in a dance with fire. I explore the functional object and its role in performance and ritual. There are multiple levels of meaning embodied in an art piece created for use in performance, but intended to continue into the realm of the everyday after its original function is realized. For many non-western cultures, it is common for an object to serve a variety of purposes. By playing different roles the object becomes layered and enriched; it floats between the worlds of the sacred and secular and is infused with the power of multiple contexts. The objects I create inform and are informed by the performance. Furthermore, these investigations demonstrate the potential of dance, theater, and conceptual art to act as a community ritual and reveal the ability of objects to hold the power of that ritual. My work relies on the capacity of this power being tapped into time and time again.

The recital will be held during Performance Forum, a show featuring the latest work of myself and 5 other choreographers. UniFier is holding a beginner poi workshop along with various other classes!

The cost of attendance is:
-$20 per hour for a personal lesson
-$18 dollars if you bring afriend (up to 5 friends)

We will cover the basic fundamentals of poi, fire
safety, and your first set of basic movements.

Our story begins with the existence of a dark Sorceress who utilized her mastery of alchemy and spell casting to conjure vile creatures from the fiery depths to do her evil bidding and maintain rule over the land. Over time however, this sensuous and sultry goddess longed for companionship and decided to take on a young apprentice to teach and pass along her mystical powers.

I DJ'd at an outdoor party in Bonsall July 22nd... the guy who danced with fire at the end of the night made every female i know completely randy.... anyone know who he is? It was at Tony and Lucy's private campground.... anyways.... I am going to be at the same "fire-acceptable" location this sunday August 5th and I would love to see him or someone else burn stuff while dancing if you know what I mean! Burners, Hoopers, Poi, Fire..... all welcome. Kids are ok to bring, but no pets.

I am not spinning this time, just dancing and chugging cheap beer. Party info to follow if anyone requests it :)

Hey all,
I’m lookin’ for a set of fire poi. I’ve been practicing with glow poi and they don’t weigh enough to act like the fire “heads”. If anyone has some they want to get rid of or has suggestions on what I should get, and more importantly where to get them, let me know. I would consider almost anything anyone has to offer. I’d prefer the handles be in good condition and that they be at least medium length chain. They don’t necessarily have to be unlit, as long as they’re not spent and the price matches the condition. This would have the result of my being able to use my own poi at flow class and not have to commandeer some unfortunate bastard’s set every time I go. I’m sure everyone involved will be grateful. Thanx…

I will have DVD copies for each performer and crew member who wants one. This is a two camera edit of the show from footage from me and Jason Spence, not just raw footage, and I promise you'll like it.

I have some questions for someone to answer before I can finish the titles. I NEED ALL OF THIS TODAY SO I CAN GET THIS DONE. Please EMAIL ME at gregy1@yahoo.com with any answers to these questions so I don't have to come back to fucking Tribe fifteen times today to piecemeal it together:
1. The show obviously has a story. Did it have a title? What is it?
2. I need performer names as you'd like to see them in the credits. This can be default world names, playa names, or a mix of both like Greg "Smoke Blower" Young or however. But if you don't give me names, they won't be in the credits.
3. Same for crew - safety, fuel depot, whatever you may have utilized at Fuente or is part of the crew.
4. I need a credit for the music - if not the original pieces, who did the mix? Original piece names would be good too.
5. If you have two favorite photographs of the group or from the performance for the DVD itself and for the slipcase cover, I'll need those, and they MUST be original high res.
6. If there is a graphic logo file, I'll need that too.

Enough? Like I said I promise you'll like this and I'm very very very sorry it's taken so long.

BTW, I don't charge for doing this stuff... I won't be selling the DVD. If Unifire wants to sell the DVD or use clips for download for pay, we can make arrangements. Please do not use my video work for profit without my permission.

Hello, my name is Tuan and have posted on this tribe before. I moved to Oceanside a couple of months ago and spend most of my time in San Diego. I've meet so many wonderful people there that I want to move back! I left Oceanside 3 weeks ago for a journey up north. Camping, brother's wedding in Seattle, now in Edmonton Canada. The Canadians didn't want me to stay here. They only gave me a month temporary visa to visit. I now have to take the Greyhound back to SD by the 8th of July.
I attended Freedom Fest and was greeted with so many smiles and delights. I was blown away by the performance of Unifier at the event. I also stayed for Bassnectar. What a show that was.
I am turning to tribe once more for directions. Tribe has connected me to so many people and events that I believe in it. I am moving back to either PB or North Park South Park area beginning of July. I am looking for a chill place to live. Hopefully around $400 to $500. I've lived in a hammock on the beach for 2 months so I can live anywhere. I just need closer locations to business and bus lines. Sold my car to make it to Canada :) My girl lives in PB but she'll still visit me if I live elsewhere (i think). Anyone has a loft downtown and wanting to share? I got my own portable blow up bed. I travel light and has no furniture.

Hi everybody -

First, wanted to say how incredible your performance was. I've seen a lot of fire performances, and been in a couple, but I've never seen an ensemble perform with that much passion and creativity. You were far beyond anything I expected, and I'm honored to know many of you personally and be among you as a friend.

Second - We got video! Jason Pence & I shot the entire performance with three High Definition cameras, so we have some really great footage. You may have seen a little bit of it incorporated into Saturday night's visuals behind the DJ's.

And finally, I know evreryone's anxious to see it - please give me a week so I can get together with Jason and figure out our workflow. After that I will invite you all to a showing and we can discuss what you'd like to do. As far as I'm concerned, it's your property, though I haven't discussed with Jason his viewpoint. A couple of thoughts - in some past years I have given away DVD's to the SD Burner community chronicling our events, and I think I'd like to do that again. You could also or instead have a performance video and sell it to raise a little bit of funding. First thing, though is to get it together so you can see it!
