I'm ready. Let's go find a suitably upscale dining establishment and have ourselves a pleasant and sensual evening, with food and good conversation as the centerpiece. I'm a carnivore (and all ways!), and one establishment I've enjoyed is Ruths' Chris restaurant in the city. I don't know more than a few eateries in the city, and I'm open to ideas put forth by others. Let's go!

Sounds like fun, when do you want to go? I would prefer someplace that wasn't a corporate chain, perhaps Skate's at the Berkeley Marina?

Re: Let's go!
Sun, July 8, 2007 - 9:56 AMHow about Saturday, July 21st?
I'd love to have several people, including at least a couple of women. Hey ladies, how about it? How about joining a couple of kinky fellows for dinner and conversation? -

Sun, July 8, 2007 - 3:09 PMI love Skate's in the Berkeley Marina but just so you know it can get pretty expensive.
Three of us ate there a year ago and it cost $200.
I do not eat meat or chicken so I would like a place that would have some more variety than a steakhouse. -

I'm interested, but I can't do the 21st. Also I know we're talking "upscale" but that is different for everyone, and $200 for 3 people is a bit too upscale for me.
My favorite restaurant in the city is probably Thep Phanom, which is Thai food. It's at Waller and Fillmore, one block south of Haight and Fillmore.
August 4th would be a better Saturday for me.

Re: Let's go!
Sun, July 8, 2007 - 7:37 PMI'm game, but I'll be out of town from the 15th through the 26th.
I'd also prefer a non-chain restaurant, and someplace more unique.
I'd like to recommend one of my favorites, Firefly, in Noe Valley. Prices are moderate for the Bay Area, with a diverse - and delicious! - ever-changing menu and large portions, in a cozy, slightly funky, out-of-the-way locale. Parking isn't too horrible, either; I've never had to park more than a block away or circle more than a couple of times at most. There's plenty to satisfy hardcore meat eaters, and fare for the vegetarians as well, and an entirely decent wine list.

Re: Let's go!
Mon, July 9, 2007 - 1:16 AMHow about the 21st for those interested and can make it...anywhere? I'm open to either of the two suggestions--Thep Phanom or Firefly or ? Maybe we can carpool, too, if parking's a concern? And, hell yeah, thrifty upscale works for me.
How about August 4th, too? What I want is tasty food and good company with delicious conversation! Can't have too much o' that.
Let's share some good drink, scrumptious flavors and maybe even chocolate for dessert.

Wed, July 11, 2007 - 6:54 PMDarn. I'd be interested in something closer to my neck of the woods unless we're going to do this before a play party up there.
I'm in when we do something down here in the southern half of the bay area though!

Re: Let's go!
Sun, July 15, 2007 - 12:01 AMTheir doesn't appear to be much interest in arranging at get together. I'm willing to coordinate a dinner if enough interest is demonstrated, and it could be, as Alix suggested, be before a play party in the city. So, whadaya say folks?
