I received the following in my email inbox over the weekend and thought I should pass it along so that anyone who is interested can attend.

Hey Folks,
As you may or may not already know, Sweet Soul and Screaming Chicken have decided that it is time to give the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival to the community that it’s intended to benefit. To do this we will be forming an open not-for-profit organization to take ownership of the festival.
To begin the process we will be holding our first meeting this Monday May 21 at 8:00pm at The Doll House - 42 West 8th Ave (between Manitoba and Ontario). The purpose of the meeting will be to decide on the structure and mandate of the new organization. Attached below is the proposed agenda for the meeting with more details.
This first meeting is open to everyone but is primarily intended for those who would like to take a hands-on role in organizing next year’s festival. This meeting will be followed by the organizations first Annual General Meeting to take place in June. Absolutely everyone in the community or with an interest in being involved should plan on attending the AGM. It will be an opportunity for everyone to join the organization and elect our first board of directors who will be responsible for steering the organization of next year’s festival. Hopefully the entire spectrum of the Vancouver burlesque community will be represented in the membership and on the board of directors.
If you are unable to attend the meeting please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to bring any comments and/or concerns to the meeting.

1) Create Mission Statement
2) Create Constitution
a. To produce an annual performing arts festival showcasing local, national and international artists
3) Establish criteria for membership
a. Open or Selective
b. Dues
c. Flat or Graduated
d. Groups or just individuals
4) Format for board of directors and election thereof
5) Decide on name for organization
6) Set date for first AGM
