In the new tribemates thread, there was talk of a workshop. What kinds of things would you expect to get out of it? What would you hope to get out of it? Learning how to put a look together? Or mainly construction of different pieces?
I have been thinking about putting one together...there does seem to be a need. : )

Re: Costuming workshop?
Tue, July 10, 2007 - 10:03 PMI could really use some 101 on building different types of costume pieces. I've been putting off making a big feathery headdress even though i really want one. I know I can do it but somehow it's intimidating. I would also like to know how to make good, full, fun tutus since the ones I make tend to be a but bland.

Tue, July 10, 2007 - 11:34 PMHow do you mean bland? Not very puffy, or just not interesting?
I have made a few vegas type headdresses before. I Recently made a huge Indian headdress in turquoise and sequin....LOVED it!! : )

Wed, July 11, 2007 - 8:05 AMThat looks fantastic.
My tutus tend to be not very puffy or interesting. I'm working on one now that will be more interesting but it is not a standard tutu. -

Re: Costuming workshop?
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 12:25 AMMaybe if you created an event with the actual date etc. people would respond. What do you think? -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

Re: Costuming workshop?
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 11:59 PMHey there...
I would be very interested in a workshop, but am wondering obviously about costs as costume making, materials, etc... are pricey. Would you do a focused workshop on a particular item, or on fundamentals... or??
Just wondering so I can plan to attend, and all that associated stuff!
Hmmm... I wish there was time before Halloween!
Cheers,
Dolphin.
PS: Sevda - if you ever want to talk barter for Pilates privates or massage... let me know!! -

Re: Costuming workshop?
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 4:15 PMI guess to begin with, it would be what the majority wanted to focus on. There could be a series of workshops covering individual pieces.
What do you think a reasonable workshop fee would be? $100, $50? I guess it would depend on the piece being made. You are right about the costume cost being somewhat expensive. I think an average price, just for materials, for a vegas style headdress being around $100. Ostrich feathers are not cheap, but they are beautiful!

Re: Costuming workshop?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 4:28 PMI thought I would post about a new creation that I designed. It could certainly be worked into a burlesque routine. I will post pics in the pic section with and without wings so you get a better idea.
