As the greyness descends..... when/where do you wanna hoop?
I vote for downtown - 'cause Robson Square rink is always an option if it starts pouring.
Anyone interested in suggesting a regular time? Or a monthly thing? Or know of a regular event that has space for hoops?

One more sunny day.
Thu, September 28, 2006 - 8:22 PMI say 2pm Saturday sounds good. Robson square is great. I don't think it will rain this Saturday, so how about Charleson Park, on the Seawall? I'll bring the cookies.

Re: One more sunny day.
Thu, September 28, 2006 - 10:13 PMThis Saturday I have a stitch n bitch date at 1pm out at UBC, so I prob won't make 2pm... maybe 3pm, though.. where's Charleson? The promise of cookies might get me farther away from an easy bus route :)
Got transportable music? Where's Vicki with her stereo? :) VICKI! COME PLAY!
(or Daina? Did you have one?) DAINA! Come Play! Brendan! THe rest of you antisocial sods who didn't come out to any of the summer Fridays... come play!

Re: One more sunny day.
Fri, September 29, 2006 - 9:51 AMHey I came out to a few Robson Square nights! Actually I was there for the last night and I was the only hooper :(
Anyways I’m going to be tied up this weekend it seems as though my summer rush is just starting too slow down but I could probably come out next weekend.
I’m probably going to rent a room at the Kits Community Centre some time next month but the ceilings are rather low so it’s not so good for vertical moves.

Get There at 3pm
Fri, September 29, 2006 - 10:00 PMCarleson Park is Here:
maps.google.com/maps
Christa, from UBC, take the B-line to Willow, walk down Laurel (one block west), over the pedestrian overpass, and vear right once you're in the park. Let's make it three o'clock, unless hordes of people respond to this post, all clamouring for the original time.
Another way to get there is by walking along the Seawall. The park is just east of Spruce Cove Marina, and west of Cambie Street Bridge. I'm sure almost all of you have been there! If you'd rather ride your bike, I can lend you a hoop.
I usually hoop over by the jungle gym, near the small hill. These days there is the added bonus of rustling in the fallen leaves. -

Re: Get There at 3pm
Sat, September 30, 2006 - 12:12 AMYay! I was totally rustling in the leaves along the sidewalk this morning, as I did an early morning secret hoop delivery...
Nice instructions :) You could be an honourary member of my family for providing clear detailed instructions AND a map! (y'know, I'm totally glad I looked at the map.. somehow I interpreted "pedestrian overpass" in my mind to mean "Cambie Bridge" and was picturing wandering around Yaletownish parks to find you..)
See you around 3ish. You're bringing cookies, right? ;)

Re: Get There at 3pm
Sat, September 30, 2006 - 9:33 AMUhm... since it is currently raining, and I'm not excited about park hooping in the rain, wanna relocate to Robson Square for this afternoon?
I'll try to check back here around 1 before my coffee/knitting date :)

Cookies - Sure, Sun - Hmmm
Sat, September 30, 2006 - 10:34 AMChanging venues is a great idea. I'll see you at Robson Square, 3pm. If nobody else shows up, we'll have to pig out on all the cookies. They will be fresh out of the oven!
Have fun knitting. See you soon,

A great time was had by all!
Sun, October 1, 2006 - 11:38 AMHighlights of Saturday's session at Robson Square:
The sun was out.
The cookies were plentiful.
Several innocent bystanders had their lives transformed for the better.
I got my under-the-arm toss sorted out.
No people or outdoor sculptures were seriously injured.
Who's arranging a weekday-evening play session?

Re: A great time was had by all!
Sun, October 1, 2006 - 2:04 PMI'm trying to fill my evenings with paid work, so not me...
But yesterday was lots of fun, thanks :) I especially liked hucking the hoop back and forth with you...
I can see doing something like that a lot.. dunno if I can commit to weeklies (Vicki/Urban was asking) but Saturday afternoons are better than most other times for me, for the most part...
Thanks for the cookies, too!

Re: A great time was had by all!
Sun, October 1, 2006 - 10:54 PMHeh, one of those times that quitting jobs is celebrated, rather than instilling panic? Tell us more, babe!
I'm not sure what next Saturday looks like.. I know I'll be at UBC til 3ish, and then ALL of my immediate family are in town for the weekend, so not sure what that's gonna be like... actually, we should arrange something JUST for my mom, so she can come show off her moves and meet as many of y'all as she can :)
I'll check in with them to see what their timeline is for the weekend..

Re: A great time was had by all!
Wed, October 4, 2006 - 12:02 AMOkay, Mom's interested.. but she's trying to schedule for early Saturday afternoon which doesn't work for me, so I'm suggesting either Saturday at 4ish, or maybe Friday night, 7 or 8ish... at Robson Square, downstairs if it is raining, or up by the art gallery cafe steps if it is nice..
Anyone able to join us? T'would be cool if you could - a) so I can show off my wild hoopin' mom (she's doing double-hoop moves!) and b) so I can show off all my cool hooping friends :)
Lemme know which time (if either) might work better for you, and I'll firm up when I hear back from them.

Re: A great time was had by all!
Wed, October 4, 2006 - 12:01 PMArg I’m going to have to call it by ear. I am very busy with all sorts of things right now but I could try to come out for an hour or so on Saturday. Friday night I’ll be at Richards on Richards to see Easy Star All Stars – woohoooo!
I think November will be a better month for me for play dates. -

Re: So Sorry
Thu, October 5, 2006 - 10:24 PMK, Mom n Dad have decided to not postpone their committment for Saturday night, so 4pm Sat is a no-go...
Anyone for Friday/tomorrow evening? It will be a later-day confirmation of the time - they won't know what time they're getting into town until they're a couple hours away, so I'll be able to post specifics on here prob by 3pm-4ish tomorrow for a playtime tomorrow eve (I'm guessing not toooo late - its getting chilly out there, so mebbe in the area of 7:30ish provided they aren't delayed during the day)
Wishywashy me :) Any of the rest of you who want to still keep planning for a Saturday playdate, please do!
