what kind of head

topic posted Sat, May 12, 2007 - 1:26 PM by  Brian
I just received a late birthday cheque and and looking at picking up some fire poi. That way I can start to practice with what I plan on burning.
Any suggestions on what type of heads to get? And where is the best place?

There aren't too many places around here that sell poi. Dax, who spins at Trout Lake was selling them, I'm not sure if he still is.
Lots of people go through Home Of Poi. It's located in Australia but they are very good and the shipping is really quick.

There are three main types of poi wicks; rolled, monkey fist, and cathedral. Cathedral are the most popular and they are what most people that I know use. They absorb fuel well and have an even burn. If you go onto the Home of Poi website, they have all kinds of information on wicks - from difference in burn to how to make them. It's a really good info site.

There are lots of sites in the states that sell poi and related projects. A juggling site that is also popular for poi is dubee.

    Hope that helps.

    Oh yeah,
there is an order going in tomorrow from a bunch of us to home of poi. That way, we save on shipping. If you are interested, I can let the guy who's doing the order know.
