blood type

What are your thoughts on this blood type theory? Because, if you´re a person with the meat-eating blood-type, meaning that meat is very life-giving and healthy for your blood source, I imagine that kind of person would have a hard time being vegetarian/ vegan, right? Because their body naturally craves meat. But, because vegatarianism/ veganism is a choice, I know there are tons of these people who have the meat-eating blood type, but of course don´t eat meat. What are some recommendations for really good protein replacements that fulfill your body´s need for proper nutrition, but at the same time honoring your choice for animal rights?

I am a type O blood type which means, according to them, that I should eat decomposing flesh to be healthy. That is not true. I am a vegan and healthy too. No, I am not a tiny person, but I am fine with who I am and most of my friends think that I look very healthy, healthier than some of their skinny friends. And for the record I have no cravigs for dead flesh of any sort.

Yeah, the blood type thing is a load of crap. I'm 'O +' , which apparently means I should crave dead flesh. However, even when I was a meat eater, I had intestinal "issues," which didn't go away until I stopped eating meat. Not to mention the fact that I feel cleaner, healthier and have a higher energy level than I did when I ate meat. Oh, and no meat cravings either.

I think whoever came up with that theory has the bloodtype BS positive.

and ultimately that's all it is some half-assed theory that someone came up with to sell a book. It is not proven in ANY WAY and has absolutely SERO scientific validity.

imagine if this were true. So polar bears with a certain blood type would be vegetarians? great white sharks vegetarian because of their blood type? Elephants would need to hunt depending on their blood type?

it's absolutely LUDICROUS...all huamsn are the same species and therefore they have the same dietary needs...this whole "oh I NEED meat, or I NEED to eat this, I'm different"...is bullshit...we're all HUMANS...we all need to eat the SAME foods. We may prefer certain foods, but that is not a dietary NEED.

I never have heard this theory. It sounds like some ignorant meat promoting people came up with that one.

Just chiming in. I am also O+, and I have ALWAYS hated the taste of meat. I stopped eating it as soon as I was given a choice about my diet.

And as far as health goes, well, my doctor told me I am the second healthiest person he has ever seen, and the first was a professional triathlete. This morning I was doing some biofeedback, and my resting pulse rate was 58 bpm. It hasn't been that low since 4 years ago when I was freediving regularly. Since going fully Vegan and now eating 60% raw my health has been amazing. I will sometimes sleep only 3 hours a night, wake up and work a full day, and get home at 10 pm going "Jeez, I am STILL not tired! What the hell?"

It is currently 1 am, I slept 3.5 hours last night, from 4 am until 7:30 am, worked all day, went home and prepared a Vegan feast with some friends, packed my car full of audio gear, went and set up for open mic at our local animal rights education center, played music for a few hours, broke the equipment down, came home, put it all away, and I STILL feel like I could go out and run a few miles right now. So....yeah....the whole blood type thing, ..............whatever. If this is me unhealthy because I do not follow my "blood type" diet then I guess if I were healthy I would be friggin' Wolverine or something.

The funny thing is, I conform to a lot of the other characteristics he attributes to type O's. I am thin and muscular, I can run for long periods without tiring, I have an overactive immune system, a lightning metabolism, I respond best to stress with intense physical activity, yadda yadda. So there DOES seem to be something to his research, but it falls flat at the dietary part. When I ate cheese and dairy and a lot of cooked food I was way fat and out of shape, I had no energy, I would go all "food coma" after every meal. Not anymore. Sorry to ramble on, but this is a subject I have spent a lot of time thinking about and researching, so I wanted to share what I had discovered.

Thanks for the replies, that all makes good sense. There are so many theories out there, but I agree with your responses. A new question: I know there is this type of vegetarian that doesn´t eat meat, but eats fish because fish have a free life before getting killed, so therefore they feel ok about eating them. In veganism, it´s not just about boycotting animal products because of the link with animal mis-treatment, but also just not eating animals in general as an energetic thing-- not eating anything that was once alive and is now dead. Does that make sense? Because they don´t talk about fish being linked to animal mis-treatment. Let me know what you think. ;)

            Fish are not swimming vegetables.

If you eat fish you are not a vegetarian. Fish are wonderful beautiful intelligent creatures with as much right to life as any other sentient being.

Our oceans are so overfished it is ridiculous. Humanity is essentially erasing life from the ocean. If we do not stop it will reach a point of critical collapse where there will not be enough diversity left in the ocean to support a stable ecology, at which point there will be massive species die-off. If the ocean dies, so do we.

          Oh, and about fish....
well, I just read an article talking about how the fish are fished out....
          almost everywhere.....

          Hmm, what is sustainable?

actually the cruelty to fish is HORRIBLE.
there are no laws for fish slaughter and they are just gutted alive, left to decompress, having their organs pop out of their mouth.
            www.fishinghurts.com/

from a philosophical standpoint, veganism IS about avoiding all products that come from an animal REGARDLESS of how they are treated...because part fo the vegan ethic is animal rights...and if animals are right holders, how they are treated is not relevant, the issue is that they have the right to live and that we do not have the right to kill them for ANY purpose.

            (apart from maybe self-defence)

Plus yes as Patrick says, fishing is the MOST unsustainable meat industry on the planet (whether trawling or fish farms) we live ina blue planet and we are killing our oceans, guess what if the oceans die, so will we. VERY QUICKLY.

yeah, Katrina, if you've ever been scuba diving or snorkeling (or maybe even just watch Finding Nemo...i know it's a silly kids movie, and obviously fish don't talk...but they do live really intricate lives with their surroundings) you'd know that fish are living, breathing critters, just like a cat or dog or pig or cow...

i love watching fish interact underwater...they are magnificent...fishing does tremendous damage to the underwater ecosystem...and if you think aquaculture (farmed fish) are any better think about it this way: salmon swim thousands of miles in the wild and then in a fish farm they are suddenly reduced to swimming in an area around the size of your bathtub for their entire lives...they are abused horribly, swimming in crap and sometimes develop skin diseases...aquaculture farms also usually seriously pollute the land or water they are near...it's hard to dispose of all of that waste when you're cramming so many fish together in such a small area...then when a fish is finally killed, they are usually slammed to the ground, or shocked...and then left to suffocate, sometimes this can take up an hour....it's like drowning in reverse...just taking a fish out of water is a terrible thing to do...let alone torture it for it's live first...

sorry to rant about this...but i simply HATE it when people say they are vegetarians for environmental, animal rights, or moral reasons...but still eat FISH... such hypocrisy...

the only reason why some "vegetarians" still consume fish is if they are avoiding red meat for health reasons...but then they are simply misinformed...because, birds, pork, and fish (especially with mercury and other toxins increasing) is just as unhealthy and becoming more so everyday as we pump them full of growth hormones, fill them with shitty food, and antibiotics....yuck.

Shannon: I don´t know what prompted you to let me know that fish are living, breathing creatures, just like cows/ dogs, as if I didn´t know that. I think you looked deeper into my words than how I wrote them. What I was trying to say, was that, because I´m just starting to learn about veganism and what not, I´m naming all the information I´ve been told by people about vegatarianism & veganism, and what I´ve heard is that statement that people believe that since fish swim free in the ocean before getting caught; they don´t live in the exact same situation as cows & chickens caged up in farms/ factories, that a lot of people consider it ´ok´ to eat them-- I don´t. And I wasn´t aware of all the cruelty they faced as well. I was just seeking out all the information, calling out all the statements I´ve heard about everything, testing their validity.

Well, when this blood type thing kind of started....

I saw so many people who were jealous of the veggie people....

how they had friends and clubs and dinners over........

These people really wanted to be part of something....

but then they did not want to give up their violent ways.....

So when Atkins made this thing popular..... they loved it!
now THEY can be part of a special club....
(even thought they are basically doing the same thing.... except NOT eating healthy...)

and what did that guy die of?
I hear .... a massive stroke...... klogged up with the bad cholesterol...

WOW! Sorry, I was just asking out of innocense. I didn´t know about all of those facts about the fish. Thank you for the very awakening information.
I definitely agree that fish-eaters should not be considered vegetarians.

let me apologize if i offended your intelligence.

i only get so defensive about this particular issue because you are correct, many vegetarians do seem to think that eating fish still qualifies them as a vegetarian...and i have heard people use the argument that fish don't feel pain...like living underwater somehow separates them from the "real" world...i strongly disagree with that...so i was just trying to explain to you why i think that belief is false. i'm really sorry if my response bugged you, that was not my intent.
