.
i'm putting together a smoking blend to sub for tobacco ... i have a list of herbs/plants i'd like to start with :
.
white sage, yerba santa, coltsfoot (heals damaged lung tissue from cigarettes), damiana, lavender, roses, peppermint, willow bark, mullein, mugwort and lobelia (helps with easing out the tobacco addiction- use sparingly).
.
anyone know if i need to cure these, or can i just acquire the dried herbs, mix & smoke ?
.
thanks & beautiful day to you all :-)

Re: smoking blend to sub for tobacco - Question ...
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 8:27 AMYou don't mention kinnikinnick (uva ursi, bearberry)?
That does need to be cured, but that just means allowed to dry till it turns brown.

Re: smoking blend to sub for tobacco - Question ...
Fri, June 27, 2008 - 2:23 AMI've been enjoying lion's tail, many varieties of sage flowers, and the occasional eucalyptus sap or mimosa root bark just for fun... but I wasn't intending that mix for kicking any kind of habit. -

Re: smoking blend to sub for tobacco - Question ...
Sun, June 29, 2008 - 10:36 AMwhile lovely and aromatic tasting, many of the herbs mentioned may do more harm than tobacco in the long term use. And they certainly do not have the same ally's energy that tobacco does. If smoking is the issue, you may want to consider making singa instead - then you can work with the ally without bothering your lungs. Tobacco gives clarity and strength to cleansings and ceremonials. There is alot of very good information here if you go thru old postings. -

Re: smoking blend to sub for tobacco - Question ...
Tue, July 1, 2008 - 1:07 AMWell Stella, i have certainly had my own excessive love of tobacco stories, lol. I love singa, it really is not like smoking at all - it is clear and strong, and ........ works strongly for me for 3-6 hours. Gives clarity of vision, both personal and when doing medicine for others. It helps one to see a situation clearly.
just my 2 cents....
oh hey, we are long overdue for that coffee! i have been so busy this summer!

Re: smoking blend to sub for tobacco - Question ...
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 12:31 PMhmmm ... Tobacco IS a very VERY powerful entity! ... and I understand how she can be overwhelming if not respected!
I have just gone thru A LOT of work with her. ... My grandmother smoked heavily while pregnant with my mother, who in turn smoked while pregnant with me ... i then began smoking when i was 13 years old ... heavily ... i had a very hard and "troubled" childhood, rich and full of all the strong lessons one who is stubborn powerful and on a mission needs ... :)- Tobacco was extremely calming and nurturing to me in these trying times in my life .. she helped me to quell the heartbreaks, and send prayer out to great spirit... she helped me to breath.
later in life ... coming into my spiritual power, i began to use her ceremonially .. being born on a reservation, and introduced to southern and northern american ritual tobacco use ... i began to justify my abusive relationship with this great medicine.
however in a certain light i have come into now ... in releasing my history ... i see ... the over use of tobacco is a personal sabotage. ... the excessive usage of this medicine will cause heaviness, and will subdue your power. ...
Kourosh, I think it is important that you work with the spirit of Tobacco and give her thanks for all the support she has given you, and tell her of your intent to come into a harmonious relationship with her!
Perhaps ... if you feel attracted to native south american heritage ... read about White Buffalo Woman! ... and the time when she gifted the peoples with the Pipe, and gifted them with prayers to use with Tobacco.
Substitutions ... are not usually an answer ... coltsfoot may heal lung tissue, and be a good ally for you now ... but don't put a band aid on a bullet wound. ... Be with yourself now in this time, Sit with the feeling that arise ... Why does quitting make you feel you need something else? ... what do you REALLY need? ... what were you using Tobacco to "substitute" for? ....what do you really need? Give it to yourself!... It is time.
Good work brother! ... as you come into a balanced walk with Tobacco, you help to heal the Great Mother. -
