I leave in some of the lingo from the first incarnation:
Ideas, discussions and networking regarding the use of vegetable oil in converted vehicles as an alternative fuel.
Using Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) can be an amazingly inexpensive. This is particularly interesting and environment friendly just like grey water because it is used twice. First it fuels You, then it fills up your vehicle.
This cooked or 'spent' oil that otherwise is wasted can be obtained from restaurants at no charge. Vehicles running on diesel can be converted rather easily and cheaply. Why isn't this method of transport more wide spread? Currently there is no organized network for collecting and distributing this much needed, clean burning fuel. We need critical numbers, more buses and also smaller vehicles that utilize vegetable oil. So Burnin Man folks, burn veggie oil and use buses to get the stuff from NY to the Playa!
This is the way to go when gas is $3 a gallon and not necessarily biodiesel, which is produced on an industrial scale and might be soon controlled by BIG OIL, thus kept expensive.
Feel free to post additional information and clarification if needed - my sources are from from complete.
