I found this little poster at a Starbucks in Victoria, but it has no contact information and doesn't say who's putting this event on, or what charity this is a fundraiser for. Anyone else know? Here's all the copy on the flyer:

"Oriental Performing Arts

James Bay
New Horizons Center
234 Menzies
Tables available
TONS of performances!
$2 entrance
donated to charity

Saturday, May 9, 12-4:30

  • It does say who is putting it on! "Oriental Performing Arts " is OPA, a bellydancer membership group similar to MEDA in Victoria. They have a group on Facebook: www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php I'm not a member, so I don't know who to contact or whose in charge, but you could probably find out through the FB group. Hope that helps!
    • Ohhhh . . . I read "Oriental Performing Arts Grand Bazaar" all together as being a description of the event. Again, without contact info right on the flyer, it's hard to tell. And the event itself isn't listed on the New Horizons Centre's website calendar, so no info there.

Checked out the OPA group on Facebook, thanks for the link! There is *one* post there about a consignment table being available for use, and the above info of place and time, and giving contact names. AND an "Event" listing with this additional info:

"Shop for costumes, jewelry, canes, CD's, DVD's, and canes
      * performances through out the day
      * food and beverages available
Door $2.00 donated to W.I.N. (Women in Need)
      table $25.00 for sellers

to perform or rent a table contact Anita"

There is also a workshop at the Centre that day which looks like it is in conjunction with the Bazaar, from 1:30 - 3:30:

"Presentation, Dramatization and Projection on Stage from Entrance to Exit

Suitable for beginners as well as seasoned performers

      2 hours $25.00

Constance Lukyn started dancing in the 70's and has trained, through classes and workshops, with many of the famous dancers in North America.
She has recently taught classes at the "Soul Sisters Dance Studio" and is working on a comedy routine for her performance in "Belly for the Beast" show at Malaspina College Theater in mid-May.
Constance is known for her ethereal double veil and powerful dramatic sword performances. She will be bringing this unique energy to this workshop to help dancers reach down into themselves and find their performance personality."

Whew, lotsa sleuthing to get all this!!!
