Could someone tell me how to do these elbow passes. I seem to be able (with practice of course) to master tricks, this one however is haunting me. I can do the vertical standing behind the back elbow pass, it is the bent over horizontial that I do not get. I know there is some little thing that is stopping my progress.
I am flexiable and a can somewhat to the move on my knees but ,when I do it standing up I just pass from one elbow to the other . when I watch everyone else , the hoop seems to be continually spinning from one elbow to the next. Anah does this beautifully( of course) and so do a lot of other hoopers .
It is so strange that the hardest tricks sometimes are easier to get than others.....
Any advice would be wonderful........
Thank You....

basically you're bent over from the waist and you use your elbows to pass the hoop on a horizontal plane about your back. I've always wanted to learn how to do it too, but I find it very difficult. -

Fri, October 2, 2009 - 9:00 PMThanks everyone, I did not see these tutorials before. This is totally what I was talking about. I am pretty flexible and I have to tell you this is the hardest move for me. I have a ton of hoops in all different sizes and I have used them all to try this move. I am getting closer but, I think I jerk up
instead of rolling one elbow to the other. Idk, I think I am over working it a bit. I think If I just groove and let it happin it will . Thanks again, this really did help........ -

Re: elbow passes. PLEASE.................
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 6:09 PMHi Marsha,
Are you able to pass the hoop behind your back vertically (also continually from right to left behind your back?) I find that being able to do this helps be able to do the horizontal elbow pass. I think that it helps because you can practices passing the hoop with out seeing it, it helps you feel the flow and timing of the hoop pass. Thats how I started playing with passing the hoop elbow to elbow. After feeling good with passing the hoop vertically behind my back I started playing with the hoop being horizontal. After getting the one pass horizontally I then worked on continually passing the hoop from right to left (horizontally). After feeling comfy with that, I started working on passing the hoop horizontally behind my back left, right, the rotating my upper body to be in a lay-back then passing the hoop from right, to left, then back to behind the back....I really hope that made a little sense!! :/
Happy Dancing,
Olivia
P.S. I really love elbow hooping, I've being trying to have my boyfriend make me a hooping shirt with a hooper, hooping on her elbow, and have text above or below her saying "I <3 elbow!".........maybe I'm a big dork, but...really, elbow hooping is my favorite! :D
