Hi hoopers!

A few months ago I did this move in my hooping video and the lovely Sue wondered if I could give a description of what I did. The move seemed to get a good response, so I decided to post this here!

I really like SaFire's tutorials and since I haven't done anything like this before, I modeled my video after hers! (thanks) Although I fear my words won't be as good... but hopefully it is enough that anyone interested could give it a try! I was nervous so I stumble over words, sorry! But it is a fun move and since I have been learning moves from all y'all I thought I would try and contribute something back!

BTW, there is a slow motion part and I should have blocked out the audio...on Windows Movie Maker the slow mo includes slowing the sound...very weird. OH well!

Amy, this is an amazing move! You explain it very well and show it very well. There is about zero chance of me doing it, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate your work in providing the tutorial. I will be trying to learn a spin based on this. I can't believe you can spin like that on carpet and in socks!!

The move looks totally awesome. This should be your signature move now.

Your first tutorial is an excellent example. Thank you for doing this. I can't wait to hear from others who will undoubtedly be able to do this. The word 'splits' sent chills down my spine!

What a nice hoop friendly sitting room you have.

I love this move. I am just beginning so I am not about to attempt this. Maybe the 360 spin for a while put no the kick thing. I have some limited leg issues.

Great creativity. Thanks for your spinning beauty.

I remember when you did this move in your video. Thank you for taking the time to share with us how you did it. I've been trying to figure out. It's a beautiful move, jaw dropping actually. You did an excellent job of explaining it here. I am grateful and I know others will be too. You are a dear.

Cool! I am so glad you folks liked the video! :-) I am glad my explanation made some sense too.

Sue, it IS a great room and the carpet is that tightly woven kind, so wearing tights works better than socks. At first, I was wearing socks on a metal serving tray but almost killed myself...a little TOO much spin. The problem with this move is that it probably isn't easy to do outside or even inside a lot of places. And your comment about the splits made me laugh, I guess it helps to be able to fully do the splits (helps with keeping your center of balance) but it could work just kicking as far back as comfortable? But yeah, just the spin part is fun too.

Anyways, thanks Sharna, Monica, & Caroleeena for your thoughts too!

    Peace....

Believe it or not, I was trying to figure out how to combine an illusion with hooping a few months ago (my sister used to do baton and my other sister used to do gymnastics), so thank you for putting them together! I can't wait to try it!

Hi Amy! That was really neat. It's very pretty when you do it. I'm gonna try working on that, but I can tell you that I just tried it twice and smacked myself in the ear with the hoop. Thanks for breaking it down with the slo-mo! It's a very helpful tutorial.

    Thanks for your kind comments!!

Kara, I am so sorry you got hit with the hoop!! I definitely have done that~ it might help to try the move without the hoop first to get a feel for it. I described it WITH the hoop because I thought it might be easier to just learn the trick + the hoop movement at the same time from the start, but maybe that isn't the case!

Have fun & hopefully no one else gets hurt!

I have been staring at hoop tricks on videos for some time now, and this is the coolest new thing this week! Thanks. I will start practicing your instructions tonight!

    hey guys,

I made a short clip of a variation on the illusion for those interested.

    www.youtube.com/watch

I think it is a bit easier since there's only one 360 spin on the foot. Well, more like a 180+a 180. Maybe it'd be fun for a hooper out there!

Thanks!!!!! :-D I would LOVE to come to Colorado & hoop it up!!! I've got friends there & I LOVE the mountains, so I'll have to look you up someday!! Crazily, I've only hooped with ONE other person so I would really enjoy the company of another hooper!!!!!

Wanted to clarify, I've only hooped w/ one other person who already knew how to hoop! I did have the pleasure of playing at festivals last summer with kids and folks who tried my hoops out, super fun! Anyways, hopefully I will meet you & other hoopers here on tribe in person in the future..... =)
