Hi y'all! I am new here and I need some "different" help.
I am completely deaf so I cannot hear explanations in videos and I am nearly completely blind - I can see large movements but not details that are far away like most tutorials.I also have a balance disorder and little control of the left side of my body, but those are things I just have to adapt for, or maybe someone has some tips for these, too.
I have asked this before but no one has responded, and maybe it's asking too much. But I wanted to ask again because I LOVE hooping and my sight is going rapidly, so I would like some help while I can still see so I can continue to get better.
What I need are close up, slow moving videos WITHOUT the hoop (just the body part doing the movement) of each of the following (can be one movement per video or whatever):
hip hooping
leg hooping
moving the hoop up from legs to waist
moving hoop up from leg to chest
chest hooping
shoulder hoopimg
Any help is much appriciated :-)

Re: Really need help
Fri, December 19, 2008 - 6:23 AMHi Thundershyne:)
I love that name BTW:) OK - I can help you out with some of these! I can do 3 videos: leg hooping, hip hooping and chest hooping! I'm still working on moving the hoop from legs to waist and legs to chest and I still for the life of me cannot get shoulder hooping:)
I will try to get them recorded tonight and then I can send you a link to where I stick the videos!

Re: Really need help
Sun, December 28, 2008 - 12:23 PMThanks, Raven pointed me to that, too, and now I can get it up. But I can not seem to coordinate my body to keep it going at the shoulders, I just keep movimg each shoulder up and down and I wind up neck hooping!. Is there another way other than the four point method to keep it going? -

Re: Really need help
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 7:22 AM:) The Hoopnotica DVD has a great visualization to use while practicing without the hoop in shoulder/chest hooping. They say to imagine you are inside a barrel. You have paint-brushes attached in a circle all the way around your chest or chest/arms. Paint the inside of the barrel while also using the 4-point-method as a way to keep you even moving all the way around inside the circle. Then, after you feel you have painted that barrel really well - get inside the hoop and try again! :)
I must have a whole lotta painted barrels by now and am still trying to get the hang of it! I know the Hoopnotica DVD's say you should really have chest-hooping down pat before you will be able to do shoulder hooping well - although I am sure this is different for everybody! :) -

Re: Really need help
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 11:47 AMRaven has a good point, you need to practice chest hooping more if you are still struggling with shoulder hooping.
( I do plan on making some sort of tutorial, but I cannot seem to SLOW MOTION the video, will that be a problem?!?! )
For chest hooping,
try hooping with your arms OUT , straight up above your head! it looks and feels silly but if YOu can get the pumping motion of your chest and back, that will help with shoulder hooping eventually. It will also help you with vertical chest/shoulder hooping.
Hope this helps!!~<3

Re: Really need help
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 12:27 PMFour point method is just one of many different ways to learn to shoulder hoop. Its just the only one I made a video for, because I thought it was a good way to explain the motion that you generally end up doing. But here are some other methods:
I learned by raising it up from my waist to my neck using the ladder method (arms in), and trying to keep it on my shoulders as long as possible before it popped onto my neck. I also spent a lot of time neck-shoulder hooping, where you are leaning so the hoop hits your neck on the right side, and your shoulder on the left (or vice versa). That way you only have to worry about one shoulder's movement at a time.
I have also seen students learn in a "concave-convex" method where it is like they are passing the hoop from one shoulder to the other without it really touching their chest or back much. The motion is sort of like this: With your arms straight down, clap your hands in front of your groin, then behind your butt. Repeat. If this is the method you learn, it is harder to smooth out once you get it, though.
Good luck!
