This is my take on Chest and Shoulder Hooping. There are a lot of good tutorials on this out there already so this may be a bit redundant but people kept asking so I finally made one. Sorry it took me so long and I hope you find it helpful.

  • Oh yeah, I put it on Vimeo too for folks who prefer that. I also forgot to mention that it touches on moving the hoop up from the waist and down from the neck as well. :

    • Hey Caroleena,
Your tutorial is fabulous...as always!! It totally makes sense. I have been able to get the chest and shoulder hooping in my first current (still working on my non-dominent side). I can lift it from my waist with and with out the use of my arms inside the hoop and I'm able to drop down from the neck. The problem that I'm having is that as soon as I try to alternate my arms inside/out of the hoop, one then the other, the hoop immediately drops back to my waist. Do you have any suggestions or ideas why this might be happening? I've tried to concentrate and make sure that I'm keeping the push/pull movement the same but possibly I'm thinking of too many things and something is obviously missing.
Thanks for any suggestions or advice,
      L <3
      • Mmmmmm.... that's tricky. It would help me to see it. If it's falling down your back, it's possible that you are pulling too hard so that the hoop loses contact with your body or possibly that you're not pushing through the back to give it that "back heart" space to land on or even that you're not following through with the needed front push after lifting your arms. It's hard to say without seeing it. If you have a video camera, I suggest shooting some film and we'll see if we can figure it out from there or I can check out your form at the hoop jam and see if I see anything.
