Having post High Sierra decompression issues?? Need another FESTTTIIIIVAAAAALLLLL fix? Did you miss Vince this year? For the first time ever, Vinces band Great American taxi will be playing here in Nevada County! 2 shows in one night!!! Grass Valley street faire at 6pm they will perform down on east Man st. close to Foggy Mtn Music, and then we will re-group at Coopers in Nevada City 3 miles away for a club rock out!!! GAT is psychedelic honkey tonkin' good time Americana with a polyethnic twist not unlike Leftover Salmon, the leader of GAT's original band. Plenty of dancin' and experimentation with music, ranging from hilarious great times to a songwriter extrordinare passion that only Vince Herman holds in his mind. His magic is known to be both melodically sentimental and meaningful, to crazy shenanigans and whiskey drenched fun. One of a kind sounds with a familiar rootsy edge from Colorado. What a treat!!!

Caught a “ride” with Great American Taxi in Tucson last night and what a trip they took us on. Their music was an eclectic blend of rock, bluegrass, country, rap and Americana. The band sends out a lot of energy and Vince added some great improvisations to a few songs relating the unexpected adventures had on their travel to Tucson. Chad wailed on the keyboards, Jake did a great Drum solo to end of the nite. The whole band is really in sync with each other and played some energetic tunes all night. I am glad we hailed the Taxi, it was a sweet treat to enjoy them in Tucson. Don’t miss them tonight in Phoenix or Saturday in Vegas!
Appalachian Soul -- about what happens when they tear mountains down looking for coal -- is as good a song as I've heard in a long, long time. Ride is a rocker with a message. All Cinched Up cracks me up. A fifties style boogie with a double ought style setting... "Too much Molly and I'm all cinched up." Been there done that! Kali does the reggaebilly celebration of one of our favorite plants. If Lazy John don't get you dancing then who knows what will. Lumpy Beanpole & Dirt is another one that's sure to cause a grin, and Vince's version of Wagon Wheel will surely have you singing the choruses at full volume.

All in all a fine disc. Check it out.

OK I wimped out and split before Vince came on (I get up EARLY!) but he sat in with Mumbouli and sounded great, of course. They did that Tim O'Brien song, you know, that one. Its always good to see Vince - would have loved to have stayed but... I suck. ;-) I will undoubtedly catch him again before long... this is Boulder after all!

Calling all Arizonans! And everyone else! Who's gonna catch Vince at the Mogollon? Any thoughts on which hotel to turn into a festivaaaaal for the night? I'm considering the Monte V, the Weatherford, and my old stand-by, the Grand Canyon Hostel. Wha's happenin'? Hints? Ideas? Would love to be surrounded by like-minded folks for the evening, then off to Macy's for coffee in the a.m....or maybe noon, we'll see. I sure love Flagstaff...drop me a line if you're planning to go...

Just want to say how awsome the Taxi sounded at the Boulder Theater Friday night. Sick set to close the evening!! Also, Vince playing with the Shanti boys, Jeff Austin and Billy was outstanding as always. "Ask the Fish" and "Funky Mountain Fogdown"!! Very nice. Wish I could have been in two places at once on Saturday. We almost drove over to Keystone to surprise Vince on Sat. night/Sunday morn. But it was Juri's B-Day and nobody was in any condition to be going anywhere. Can't wait to see the Taxi again, though. Looks like January there is a run in the high country.
