Other Poems, Not Yours
A Letter to the Ship’s Captain
Stop deceiving me.
I am on to you
And your crew
Like cheez whiz
On a stale cracker.
I want to know
Where are the
Luxurious stopovers,
The sandy beaches,
Or the beautiful women.
I thought that
This trip was one
For sun and fun,
But it’s nothing but a scam
And I want a refund.
The sun hasn’t shone
For quite some time
And exactly how much rain
Can an ocean hold
Before even it overflows?
It’s a wonder
This boat still floats
With all the rough water
We’ve encountered
Along the way.
I think I’m becoming seasick.
Every night I lie in my bunk
Listening to the waves
Crash up against the ship
And pray that this hull
Is a sturdy one.
