Do you know what all these new supplements are for exactly and how they work? Like Coenzyme Q10 and Alpha lipoic acid? They seem to be good in effect but I have no idea what they actually do in the body.
Carnitine, on the other hand, seemed to give me hypoglycemia, I was constantly hungry when I took it.

Tue, January 8, 2008 - 4:27 PMActually I'm still in the discovery and research stage, myself. Please feel free to post anything you learn about.
I tried a sobe fruit drink (red grapefruit) that contained carnitine. I'll have to discover more about this supplement. -

Re: new supplements
Thu, February 28, 2008 - 6:51 PMQ10- Dr Weil's website says...
Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q 10 also called CoQ10, is a natural substance, present in most foods, that acts as an antioxidant and helps with cellular metabolism. Coenzyme Q may improve the utilization of oxygen at the cellular level, and patients with congestive heart failure, coronary insufficiency or diabetes may find it worth trying in doses of 30-100 milligrams a day. -

Re: new supplements
Sat, March 1, 2008 - 8:13 AMHere Q10 is mainly sold to give you more beautiful skin and more energy. It seems to strenghten the cell walls and thus prevents cancer. Just, I don't really understand how, and how much of that is true. But it does seem to improve the look of my skin. They also sell handcream with it in it.
