it is a great forum to talk with people, and you cant beat the price,,,,,,
but it is very problamatic that it keeps crashing...
there has got to be a better way

Indeed. And by the way, you wouldn't by any chance have any turtle care tips, would you? -

Re: Good hearted people
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 4:55 PMHmmm...turtle care......Funny you should ask, I used to be obsessed with reptiles and amphibians when I was much younger. What kind of turtle? -
-
Re: Good hearted people
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 5:19 PM<What kind of turtle?>
He's a Red Eared Slider my wife picked up at a Mexican dollar store. We discovered that he was two inches too small to be sold. So we have a wet back turtle. -

Re: Good hearted people
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 7:22 PMI raised one of those little sliders to a full grown (11in diam.) turtle. Keep the water clean, give it a place to bask in the sun & feed it live food, at least sometimes. Now my turtle & her boyfriend (he swims after her all day waving his long fingernails in her face, to signal his interest in her) live in a landscaping pool 'cuz they outgrew their tanks.
when my little turtle finally grew large enough to not be "illegal" anymore ~ I threw a turtle legalization party for her
love all-ways,

He seems to be too small for guppies or other live food. How about brine shrimp? -
-
Re: Good hearted people
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 11:17 PMsure ~ I go to bait stores & get earthworms ~ at pet stores they have frozen cubes of brine shrimp & my turtles love those too ~ it's good to give them as much variation as possible ~ oh, I throw in a cuttlebone for them to chew on ~ it helps add calcium to their diet, for their shell

You may not believe this but he loves fresh pineapple. I tossed in a sliver yesterday and he pounced on it. Strange using the word pounce when talking about a turtle, but it's incredible to see them in the water. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Good hearted people
Sat, November 1, 2008 - 11:50 PMyeah ~ I throw random vegetables in the tank ~ eventually, they will chew on anything, but it's easy to tell what they like ~ which reminds me, never use any kind of gravel or rocks that they can fit in their mouths ~ they will swallow anything they can & gravel will block up their digestive system
love all-ways,

I figured that one out just watching them eat. I took him out of the tiny gravel filled plastic box he came in and put him in a much larger space with only a floating dock. No gravel at all. Thank you for confirming what I had already guessed.
