I'm not opposed to making it myself, or buying it from someone else, but I need either construction tips or a good source. Anyone?

Re: Zip poi info??
Thu, June 5, 2008 - 3:07 PMIt is a single wick loose on a long cable that makes a great dancing prop. Check out my profile pictures for examples. -

Re: Zip poi info??
Thu, June 5, 2008 - 5:03 PMah yes, i saw those in use at Firedrums. i had seen similar tools, but they are fixed on a wire, and have rubber bands at the ends that loop around your fingers, allowing you to move your hands apart while the fire stays still. does the wick slide around on these, or is that illusion? -

Re: Zip poi info??
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 10:35 PMYes, the wick is loose on the cable so it can slide freely. -

Re: Zip poi info??
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 12:15 AMSage had one at Fire Drums, but it didn't slide, it was static. Both have their advantages, but I saw a vid of Sage using the static one and it seemed to have more true dance applications.

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 6:41 PMSilence is the guru of zip poi. HOP makes a version that I've heard is awful and does not work. I'd check with Silence... -

Sat, August 2, 2008 - 5:03 PMOh, and I should throw one out of Ayala (my old dance partner, who actually just called asking about zip poi cables...). She has a completely different style, much prettier and less mechanical than mine.
