California to Legalize Weed for Everyone

CA could legalize weed, but I am not sure I trust the author's take on this. I'm also not fully aware of all the taxation issues and I don't know if it has any chance of passing or not.

But I'm posting it anyway. The discussion below the article is at least a tiny bit interesting, informative.

My feelings on this: I want to be able to legally grow marijuana at my home, just a few plants, without having to be taxed on them. Is that too much to ask?

This day and age, apparently it is too much to ask.

And, unless we're changing federal law to allow CA to have pot, it's not going to do anyone a whole lot of good.

One would think that the tobacco companies would be interested in making it legal. They already have production and distribution systems in place. The dangers of tobacco have been widely documented, tobacco use is frowned upon in most places outside of VA and NC, and legal pot could replace lost revenue of the unkind.

Hmmm… We've tried approaching legalization from the perspective of "it's my body, I'll do what I want," with no effect. We've tried approaching it from a medical standpoint with little effect so far…

Why don't we approach from a "helping the farmers develop a new, sustainable crop," standpoint. Look at North Carolina. Most of the crops grown there are all tobacco. But tobacco is a shrinking industry. Those farmers are going to end up with acres and acres of nothing growing. i think it's time we suggest that farmers grow weed and market it to the population.

Anybody have any second-hand smoke figures about weed? I mean… I'm a second-hand weed smoker, I know there's some effects, just don't know if any are physicla.

I think the marijuana controversy in California is not about marijuana really but about federal control. California is the fifth largest economy in the world and so has a lot a power and the federal government - our fascist government - is really concerned with things like California creating laws for carbon emissions that have teeth and make the federal laws look as lame as they are. Also, our fascist federal government is making plans to control us in the likely event of social collapse and the feds know they may have trouble from individual states - there really and truly could be civil war in our country, I believe. In a national emergency the feds control all states, all state Guards, all state employees even. All state employees can be required to carry a weapon and will give their allegience to the federal government and if an employee resists they can be charged with treason and shot. Serious shit here. It made my stomach turn to see those goddamn Blackwater people down in New Orleans while those citizens did not even have clean water to drink they damn well had security forces. The writing is on the wall and pot as much as it means to us here is only a plant that grows natually out of the ground.
These heavily armed swat teams that bust open peoples doors with a warrents gleened from a judge - somehow (fascism!) - simply because some neighbor made a anonymous call, do not exist simple to do this preposterous job but to be in position to control us all when the shit hits the fan.

my neighbor just got raided for drugs based on a tip from someone in our complex, the fucked up thing about it was, they raided the wrong apartment, I bet the real weed sellers were down stairs shiting in their pants. And the cops did nothing but apologized to him, they wrecked his whole apartment, I felt so bad for him, they even broke his foot, poor man.
