When you go dancing what do you call it?
I'm going to a
Party
Club
Gathering
Rave]
Bar
Basically most of the dancing would be most of America calls a rave but when I think of a rave I think of candy and blinkies.

I liked the term "ecstatic ritual"

hmmmm...if i'm going to a big event i'll call it a party but mostly its just "going dancing" ...in my kitchen...or in a bar.....or in the streets...or the woods...or the desert.

me too. just dancing. The term Rave hasn't really been used (in my sphere, at least) since like, the early nineties, maybe? Back when it was all abandoned warehouses and backpacks and glowsticks and vicks. It evokes the whole techno and neon thing - which is decidely un-what we have here in the Bay. We go grittier and more grindy-it's whomp-whomp bass-heavy as opposed to oon-cha-oon-cha techno blips and bleeps. It's sexy and it's got heart.
      ahem.Yes.digressing...
it's the *dancing* itself, and sharing that dancespace with my tribe, that gets me out of my house at midnight and keeps me there long after my body says chill. it's the music, and community, and the dj's and the...well, you know. You're there too.
but dancing is the key that brought me to this scene and continues to create connections and friendships and shared ecstasy and...transcendance of the day-to-day experience into something..more. Group mind.ooommph.
