At High Sierra '06, we took this shot as we packed out on Monday morning -- this is about 1/3 of our camp. Sweet P is holding the jersey, which hung in camp all weekend.

and he came down from his treetop perch to see her (and us)...and to raise up his legs and extravagantly pee into the moat he was hanging over. apparently he loves an audience...and the tiny stuffed gibbon he carries around.

Meercats on alert!

scanning the skies endlessly for predatory birds...these guys are hilarious and love to line up for photo ops. apparently the zoo built fancy fake termite mounds with tunnels throughout in order to mimic their preferred habitat...but the meercats just climb the mounds to be on the tallest lookout point, and decided to dig their own tunnels all over the area instead of using the artfully created ones.

they have prehensile tongues - and one grabbed the feed bucket with that 18" long tongue and tried to abscond with it. there is a new baby giraffe at the zoo and it is huge too. I forgot to ask amy...why do they eat sliced white bread?
