I took the tributes to Marie and Missy off my tribe profile today. It feels weird to take them down. On the other hand, I've had them there for over a year. And as we remember the beloved dead with fondness, the living dance the dance of life.
I'm reminded of the description I've heard of Balinese funeral ceremonies where four posts around a ceremony space are tied with ribbons "...closing them to forget the dead."
To forget the dead - interesting concept in this crazy world we briefly share.
Taking their tributes down felt strange to me.
"Life's like that," said The Moon.
"I leave the contest now to promises I never kept
To foggy dreams that faded fast right after every sleep I slept
So here's my will at last
Here's the stuff I've left to leave
To you
Or anyone who
May, a day or so from now, discover
What's already too well known
The maker of it all
Has tricks up every sleeve
Beyond the reach
Of any magic I can work
Or even teach
What will the willful say
Reading what I've writ?
Don't ask me. I wouldn't know.
I'll never hear a word of it."
