Re: Welcome to WeMoon Spirit, now Introduce Yourself!
Mon, August 21, 2006 - 7:22 PMI'll go first!
My name is Joyce and I found WeMoon Spirit (WMS) quite by accident – I had started teaching an American Tribal Style (ATS) Belly Dance class (a fusion of belly dance styles, with a specific language and set of cues so that it can be performed as a group dance in a highly structured improvisation and is by it's nature a very community based dance) at a local studio, and lost my time slot but didn’t want my students to loose this class, so I started looking for new space. Two of the dancers in my class mentioned I should look at WMS, and after comparing it with a couple of locations, I found the space, energy and location to be perfect so we moved our classes to WMS last October.
Back then we had just 5 dancers, and I really had no idea what WMS was about, but I liked the space, the garden, and the fact it was a place that celebrated and encourages women in their pursuit of what ever would make their hearts happy. For me, that happiness is found in dancing with my tribe, and I am happy to be a part of something that allows other women to find similar joy with me. Since moving my class to WMS my attendance rates have tripled, and we have been given many opportunities for us to perform at charitable events like the Spiritual and Holistic Extravaganza in March, the Healing Alliance / Refuge House Fundraiser this past Sunday, the upcoming Women’s Variety Show in July. We love to share our dance with the world and I thank WMS for allowing me a venue and a safe place to let me pursue this endeavor.
Now nearly one year later, I not only teach and dance at WMS, I am also involved with the Wise Women Council and have started attending other classes, meeting women and making friends with people that are outside of my normal comfort zone circle of friends. I am still learning about WMS, how it works, how it is funded, and how our council makes decisions but I like what I learning. I only wish that I had found WMS 3 years ago when I first moved to Tallahassee!
If you want to become more active at WMS, please contact one of the Wise Women Council members.

Re: Welcome to WeMoon Spirit, now Introduce Yourself!
Sat, September 9, 2006 - 10:41 PMI spent time in the space that is now WeMoon when my son attended Full Flower Scool...so it holds memories of sweetness for me. I have attended Tribal Fusion belly dance classes for the past month at WeMoon after seeing performances at this years WeMoon talent event/fund raiser. In the past my experiences with WeMoon have been hearing fabulous live music, planning and attempting my first Trance dance classes, and today leading a craft workshop.
I hope to add to my support of WeMoon...even if it's just letting other women know what's happening there!
Love and Light,
Amy

Re: Welcome to WeMoon Spirit, now Introduce Yourself!
Mon, February 19, 2007 - 2:14 PMI taught a women movement class at Wemoon Spirit a few summers ago. I have not been there in a while and joined tribe net to try to better keep up with her happenings. My name is Ana- I'm a teacher in Gadsden County as well as a waitress a few nights a week. Aside from working a lot- I like to create things with my hands... daydream and cook.
