Understanding Dance imagery

In order to develop successful dance imagery, some essential factors must be understood.
these techniques maximise the quality of dance imagery.

Imagining total performance

many dancers call dance imagery visualisation, because they have the misconception that it mainly involves seeing the performance.
However, quality dance imagery involves total reproduction of all aspects of performance, including;psysiological and psychological experiances.
The visual component consists of anything that you as a dancer see during a performance.
Including music and offstage cues.
The kinesthetic aspects include muscular sensations, heartbeat and breathing.
The thinking components comprise thoughts and images that occur during a performance.
Finally, the emotional elements include feelings of exitement,frustration,joy,fear....thus dance imagery is more than just mental rehearsal, just as you as a dancer become absorbed in the actual dance experiance,so too should you be with effective dance imagery.
