[This] is a phrase that is used often in Buddhist liturgy and today a team of physicists has claimed that our view of the early Universe may contain the signature of a time before the Big Bang.
The discovery comes from studying the cosmic microwave background (CMB), light emitted when the Universe was just 400,000 years old. Their model may help explain why we experience time moving in a straight line from yesterday into tomorrow. Their model also suggests that new universes could be created spontaneously from apparently empty space. They even suggest that from inside the parent universe, the event would be surprisingly unspectacular [1].
Buddha taught that our perception of time is a merely a localized reference that depends entirely upon our own observation - time unfolds in dependence upon our mind - and Buddhist scholars and lineage holders have been expounding this truth for nearly 1500 years!
So, perhaps we can validate the Prajna Paramita (Perfection of Wisdom Sutras) where Bodhisattva Avalokitshvara explains to Sariputra that all things and phenomena, even time itself, arise out of emptiness, and now we have modern evidence to suggest that this may indeed be the ultimate nature of reality - form is emptiness and emptiness is form [2].
It has been demonstrated by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas (and now the scientists) that all things arise from, and dissolve into;

Re: Before Beginningless Time...
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 10:54 AMIME, what is being named emptiness in this lovely little piece, I would name all-potential or no form...which has never seemed to me to be particularly empty nor void, just simply unformed.
Also, IME, there is depth to that spaceless space.
One more thing, Hawaiiians tell a creation myth of the universe having multiple creations (obviously a feminine universe)...if it is only feminine having a parthnogenic experience, each creation would be the same as the other.
If you mislike the use of the concept feminine, use this term: negative polarity...as it is a negative and positive poled experience we all seem to be having, then obviously the feminine was impregnated and the universe got born. This is not to say that couldn't have happened multiple times...yet of what use is that information? Seems to me that within the concept of holographic, one bit being the same as the whole, then those who can enter into the pregnant zone can change the holograph at will. May God forbid those who hate manifestation, or those who disrespect it by declaring it illusory (what a slap in the face, considering all the effort that went into making everything manifested) from this Wholly space.
