Well...not on purpose, mind you. You guys always have interesting things posted and, certainly not complaining, you often go into great detail, provide links and references to support your points, etc.--the way I believe reasonable conversation should be carried out.
But due to my very busy life, to even attempt to keep up with guys, and clearly I'm not able to evidence by my general lack of contribution, I have to print everything out and hope I can read it during all my commuting. I'm often unsuccessful, haven't a clue how I should respond or just simply don't have the time. So I just continue to print and read.
So thank you for your well considered and thought provoking missives. I hope to contribute more in the future.
Best, skooter

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Fri, September 26, 2008 - 10:52 AMwow, printing them out to read the posts?!?? that's putting at least as much effort into it as a thoughtful response.
when i don't have time for a thoughtful response, i'm fond of posting nonsense, myself.
“Colorless green ideas sleep furiously” you know.

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Fri, September 26, 2008 - 4:43 PMYou contribute when and what you can and it's appreciated. And, yes, it does require time, and not just to read it and print it out, but to think about it. I'll find myself sometimes reading something and I'll let an idea knock around in my noggin, just stew for days or weeks.
About a month ago I printed out a response from a very smart guy to one of my posts on Physorg. I've read it half a dozen times, outlined it, made notes, and I'm just about gettin' to the point that I'll be able to get back. -

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Thu, October 2, 2008 - 10:30 AMI try to work one or two days a week, though only half days when I do work.
Well, this summer I worked a few extra half days and even a few six hour days a few times a month.
Still I got my garage rebuilt this summer. It is now dry and secure for the winter rains.
Mostly I hike with friends, practice yoga in the park, play with the cats, and dance when I can.
I do write on paper once a day to keep a journal of my morning yoga practice.
The trees will have to forgive me for that.

Mon, October 13, 2008 - 2:33 PMHow do you afford the ink? I'm so poor I can't afford the gas to go to wallyworld to get it. Lol. -

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Mon, October 13, 2008 - 7:57 PMI don't use inkjets. And laser printer cartridges last forever on a home printer. It's the paper that's the only issue. -

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Fri, October 17, 2008 - 7:59 AMThere is so much paper, only printer on one side, going into the recycle (I hope) bin every day, that you should be able to find a free sourse of used paper. Ask around to anyone working in an office somewhere. They should be able to get you all you can use.
Just a thought. -

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Fri, October 17, 2008 - 5:34 PMI reuse all paper on the second side - hundreds of pages per month, not only pages that come out of the printer, but those from junk mail, bills, etc. All my writing, notes, day-to-day to-do lists, whatever - it all gets reused on the second side. And ya know - it all gets used up. It takes a while to get used to it, but it's a painless adjustment.

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Fri, October 17, 2008 - 9:35 PMThanks, Curry, that's a very good tip. Indeed I'm well aware and pretty good about recycling nearly everything. I'm a very active member of freecycle, among other things. If you're not a member, check it out.

Re: willful ignorance tribe kills trees!
Sat, October 18, 2008 - 9:29 AMi farking LOVE freecycle. this 22" monitor i'm looking at was a freebie from someone upgrading to a flat screen. what a luxury for me!
there was a time i practically furnished my house with free stuff. carpeting, a duvet cover, a huge velvet club chair....
and a great way to pass on stuff you no longer need, while keeping usable stuff out of landfill. one man's clutter....
