A PMG is a perminent magnet generator. Magnets come in a few different materials these days and the ones I want to use are called neodynium (sp?), anyway they are much more powerful than the next best which are ceramic (the black ones). A PMG is really sort of primitive actually, if u run a magnet down the length of a wire (preferably copper) it will push electricity in front of it (positive current) and pull electricity behind it (negitive current).
Another kind of generator that really isn't well suited for small to medium size windturbines is one that uses electromagnets, these are magnets too but they consume constant power while operating, power that could help supply a homes utilities if perminent magnets are used.
I'll have to scan my drawings to share them on the web, may have to go to library for that.

I havn't built a prototype yet but there are some folks who've built somewhat similar machines and have done alot of the practical R&D. My design is pretty different from theirs though, it'll put out more power, be more reliable, and look a lot nicer (no offence intended).
Are u familair with PMG's? Perminent Magnet Generators?

a machine that can power an entire house can be made and installed for probably around $5k, or less,
can run for many decades with only yearly or bi-yearly maintanance,
can be used to charge the household electric vehicles,
and the eccess electricity can be sold to the utility company.

here's a few reasons why i believe the mega-huge wind turbines put up by the big companies are nothing more than a token effort intended to pacify the masses and have us belive that companies like G.E. are actually trying to get away from big oil.
first- the three blade turbine is best suited for high rpm operation (the huge machines always turn slowly, if at all). for low rpm operation more blades are desireable to catch more wind.
second- these huge turbines use "off the shelf" generators that are really inefficent (they spend alot of the initial electric output just charging their electromagnets when perminent magnets would save that power). as well as useing gearboxes that rob power through friction.
third- the cost of these things is astronomic! it's impossible for the average joe to even concider building one of these things, or even maintain one, and they need lots of maintance with so much weight stress, moving parts, and complicated electric componets.
