I do a lot of reflecting spells, health spells, and protections spells. I belong to a family of choice, and we do a certain amount of ritual together. I mostly lead the rituals and so am more or less the "family priestess."

I'm a rather eclectic pagan. I have gods and goddesses of several traditions on my alter, and I generally take what works for me from other traditions and religions. My sister is a shaman, and her "daughter" is Wiccan. Others in our family have made other choices.

I often use sex magick for strengthening spells made for my husband. Most of my practice is as a solitary.

So what about you?

I also tent to improvise and mix several traditions or ideas. I think sex magick is great, but only for some speciall or something that requires too strong energy.

I would say they vary and the way I see spellcrafting varies.

there are the spells that are planned and more detailed due to what they are for and there are spells that are spontaneous and intuitive due to what they are for.
some of my spells are more ritual in nature but are magick none the less and could be considered spells to me.
some may include requesting assistance from a particular deity or deities, elemental or kami, spirit or it may not include that direct request but I work with magic intandom with my spirituality so there is always a connection to the Divine and Nature energies in some way.

I use spellcrafting when I feel it can help assist me. if I need a some support in what I may be doing or if I feel it may open up some avenue to my goal that I have not looked at or it may assist me to move the energy better towards the outcome I wish to have.

I wouldn't say I engage in a lot of spell craft in the classic sense perhaps...sometimes it's so simple it may not seem as such to some but of course we know tools or no tools, using the energies that involve spell creation need only ourselves to create the first spark in magic.

this is why they can be very simple to me as simple as affirmation or more complicated though I don't embrace a ceremonial path or style of magic it can be more complex and detailed if I feel that is what that work needs at that time.

I will use it when I feel it can be helpful to any given situation but I see it more as an assistant or support to whatever it is I am doing rather then I turn to spellcrafting to solve or resolve something....of course we all know whatever we do with spellcraft that takes place on the spiritual/astral plane must be supported by the physical one so we can't just cast and sit back.....so in that sense that is why I see it as a support or assist rather then something to turn to just because I can turn to it to solve, resolve or work the solution for me.

I am a Green Hearth Witch who is solo and belongs to a coven which I founded in 2004 (Green Hearth Witches Circle).
but I can't be with my coven sisters 24-7 and I think of myself as just Witch, solo at times, with covenmates at other times.

I haven't used the word solitary in many years since I started to have contact with others, on the internet, in person.....I think solo as in on my own or one with myself as a witch is more appropiate and while I am part of a coven now it doesn't change that for me to only think of myself as a coven witch:-)

I would say magic and spellcraft can be as broad a topic and how it is created and manifested by the individual as the individual themselves so there are huge expansions to this topic and in some ways we may all use spellcraft in our own ways without sometimes even defining it as such.

anyway....just joined so Konichia wa, Namaste, Greetings, Merry Meet and Hi there!:-D

Welcome to the Tribe. You sound like someone who has given this a lot of thought.

        Hi Domina,
it's just from over the years of finding out what worked for me and what didn't. I"ve been pagan for over 27 years now but I"m not from a 'schooled' sort of path so my experiences are mostly from my own experimentations and practices over the years.

what spoke to me and what didn't.
I think magic and spellcraft is a very experiential thing.

we can read about it and work on honing certain techniques and skills that may help us with focus, moving energy, various methods of casting etc. but all that doesn't do much unless we learn to really experience it for ourselves and find out what works for us personally because one witch's way may not be the way of another witch and so on.

since we all do work with our senses in different ways we are going to experience these things in very different ways too.

I feel the path of a Witch is a very personal one no matter if they come from a Traditional background of some kind or is self-made so to speak.
So when we work with the tools of the Witch that becomes a personal experience as well and in the end that is what will most guide us to understanding these natural energies that surround us and are part of us.

But that said......I consider myself always the student.....such is life so it goes with my spirituality and craft as well.
so we can always learn something from someone and then take that and see if that helps us in some way.

        Hey Domina... :)

spellcasting...hmmm goodness I forgot how long I've been around...geesh. Did my first spell at age 4 wanted a sibling...wanted brother..hheh but got a sister instead. Even influenced the name..funny it was one of the puriest spell I think I've ever done...used dirt, water and a doll and prayed for a sibling...which arrived less then 10 months later..I'll never forget. And my parents picked a name very similar to the one I prayed on. Now keep in mind I wasn't living with my parents at the time I was living in Puerto Rico with my grandmother, so I had no idea of names or anything...

I have participated in a variety of avenues, I would say my magickal influence, grandmother (spritualist-healer), mother (santeria/spiritualist), books from ages 11 to now age (blank), Ceremonial, Wicca and currently my partner (Native American). In general, ...kitchen witchery (which is always my favorite)

Frankly I think once you have a solid foundation and a good board background you end up with a potluck of spellcasting methods..so its hard to label it as one.

I work more or less organically. I have read spellls in books, and heard them from other witches, but when the need arises, I put together what ever it is that means something to me at the time, to channel the energy I need. I try to keep track of the ones that work, just in case. I use candles, I use incense, written spells, dolls, things that I grow, and most of all, I use fire.

    Hi, I'm a Chaote. :3

I do a lot of varied work, though if I had to put it down... I'd say most of it is protective, and for gain (IE, my latest non-protective working was to secure the purchase of my motorcycle for a low price); but the former greatly outweighs the latter.

I work alone, largely because I never tend to feel comfortable in groups; but I'm not opposed to the occasional group working. I used to meet once a month with a group of Pagans of various backgrounds and beliefs for ritual, largely for the contact, but that sortof fell apart. I'd like to help the main two get things started again, but I live a distance away so I can't do too much for them. >_< I prefer to take minor roles in ritual workings -- I've practised a variety of magiks and faiths, so I'm pretty comfortable with just about anything -- but I'll step up to the leader plate for short stints if necessary.

While my spirituality is fairly open and not really of any particular sort, I do pay tribute to Ancasta and Summanus almost exclusively. I will work with other deities as I see fit, but those two are my everything so far as Goddess/God figures go.

I will use anything and everything that suits my working, my mood, and my intent. I often trust my gut and while I do extensive research before workings that I'm not familiar with, often I let myself be led and do what feels right. I do work with blood (my own), though I am very careful with it and can't stress enough both the mundane and magikal reasons why. For the first I don't want to get sick, and for the second I don't want to owe more than I'm willing or able to pay.

I use a lot of stones in my workings (morion quartz, labradorite, recently garnet and black star diopside as well), and as a hobby I craft wands out of wood and I'm looking into making a few out of bone (I have some wolf bones that I'm itching to work with). I stone-sculpt and occasionally toss pottery; though really just about any craft I do has a magikal meaning for me.
