I spoke to White Eagle about the Kitchen, and he gave me this information.
In the last 10 Samhains, only five have been successful Financial fundraisings for the land, and when they don't make money it's usually because of the food order.
He said that people don't tend to give as much during Samhain as Beltaine, so even if the same amount of people attended samhain as at beltaine, there would be less intake because of this. He also said more people show up for a few days (the samhain fire, etc) than for the entire gathering.
He suggests not even doing a mountain people's order, doing most of the shopping in Grants Pass & at the Cash n' Carry, and not spending more than $2,000 on the order.
