What Kinds of Things Happen at a Gathering?

Singing and drumming around the fire at night.
Making magic, doing ritual, celebrating the turning of the Wheel.
Speaking and hearing each other in heartspace.
Doing massage. Playing in the woods. Swimming in the Creek.
Exploring and loving the Land.

Welcome to Samhain 2009!!!!

Samhain at Wolf Creek is celebration, communion, and ritual.
It is also camping, in the Oregon Woods, in October.
Take it from us Queen, a happy gathering means preparing for all weather scenarios!!!
It is usually sunny and hot during the day, and can be downright chilly at night.
This being Oregon, it may rain. Pack a couple of tarps.
Come Prepared to Rough It.

Helpful items to bring:

Self-responsibility
A clearly divined Intention
Tricks or treats for trick-or-treating
A tent, tarps for your tent, sleeping bag, flashlight
A tote bag while you are carrying things when you are away from your tent.
Condoms
Warm clothes and hat for chilly nights,
An umbrella or such in case it rains

Biodegradable shampoo and toothpaste, (all water drains into the Creek!)
Books and pictures of Faerie lore and ancestors
Fabulous outfits and drag to share.
Willingness to pitch in where help is needed
Drums and musical instruments
Tarot cards, tools of magick
Body paint, glitter, nail polish, sex toys
Art supplies and craft projects, poetry to read,
Boundaries.
Something to write on.
An idea for a circle or workshop

SOME THOUGHTS ON SUBSTANCES…

There is an ongoing dialogue in our community regarding substance use.
These are our intentions for the use of medicines such as tobacco and other herbs and substances:
*To create a strong container and a clear conduit for our personal and tribal magic.
*To respect the diversity of experiences, beliefs, and boundaries around substance use.
*To support the healing work of those in recovery or struggling with addiction.
*To honor the medicine spirits and to ask for their blessings.

SPECIAL NEEDS
This is a camping scenario! We have very limited indoor space reserved for those with SERIOUS health concerns or disabilities. These spaces are for those who would otherwise be unable to participate in the gathering. So if you are able, please Camp It Up Honey!
When requesting special needs housing, please let us know what your special needs are and how we can help you meet them. We will do our best to accommodate special needs visitors. Those faeries who can’t deal with a camping scenario can book a room at the beautiful historic Wolf Creek Inn.

HELP WANTED
This Gathering happens because we choose, for a time, individually and as a community, to take care of each other and the land we're walking on. To live like loving family on a living Earth. For this Gathering to be sustainable, for it to flow in a good way and be fun for everybody, each single person needs to do their share....plus a little bit more.

So if you see something that needs attention (garbage needs taken out, a mess in the parking lot that has been there for three days etc.), don't just trip on down the trail like it's some other queen's job. Take the initiative!

A lot of love and work goes into this gathering. Meals need to be cooked, propane hauled and firewood cut, shitters cleaned and stocked, fire stations ready, circles and rituals led, trash hauled.

HERE ARE SOME GATHERING JOBS. WHAT'S YOURS?
• FUN-Raisers: Organize delightful events to raise energy and money for the gathering and the Sanctuary.
• Kitchen Queens: Help the kitchen flow smoothly. Plan menus, help with ordering, manage the kitchen, support the cooks.
Ideally shared by several people. Be Kitchen Queen for a Day!
• Flowmeister: Help people hook up with jobs needing to be done. Be the logistical lubricant that makes the whole gathering run smoothly.
• Transportation Coordinator: Organize rides to & from Greyhound Grants Pass, Medford airport, Klamath Falls train station, and beyond.
• Zombie Surgeon General: Make sure the first aid kits are stocked and organize other Zombie Nurses (first aid / emergency response).
At the Gathering (see the Barn door for signups):
• Registration: Hang out at the Kiosk or the Barn to greet and orient new arrivals.
• Templekeepers: Help clean and tend the Garden House, Barn, and Temple of Love
• Firewood Czar: Organize woodcutting parties while looking all butch with a chainsaw.
• Fire Tenders: Help with firewood and keep our tribal fires burning.
• Cooks: Sign up with a couple of friends to cook a meal. Nourish your Faerie kin and make their tummies happy.
• Dishwashers: Dishwashers eat first and get blowjobs.
• Garden/Greenhouse: The Sanctuary can always use help with permaculture projects. Please check with land fae before helping out.
• Ritual Planning: Help hold the container and guide the energy for our communal magic.
• Shitter Patrol: Keep our trusty shitters clean and well-stocked. A humble yet vital job.
• Trash Hauler: Carry trash and recycling off the Land so we leave ZERO TRASH FOOTPRINT.
• Zombie Nurses: Be a clear and grounded presence to safeguard your fellow Faeries.

Some thoughts on Dogs (and other familiars)
Dogs roaming free can cause problems for the gathering.
No matter how lovely and well-behaved your dog may be, a pack of uncontrolled dogs on the land tends to bark, fight, poop, and sometimes bite.
They harass the land chickens and chase away wildlife.
For the comfort and safety of all, we ask:
PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO THE GATHERING.
A kennel is available in Merlin, the next town south, where you can board your furry loved one for $10/day. It is called Creekside Boarding, (541) 471-7144, ask for Donna.
If you do choose to bring your dog, please keep your dog ON A LEASH in the parking lot or with you AT ALL TIMES.
(Mary, the land dog, lives here, and the rules are different for her.)

Radical Faerie Conference, Urban Gathering and Performance Event

October 2 to 4, San Francisco

This call goes out to Radical Faeries to join together in San Francisco this October 2 to 4, 2009, to invigorate and inspire each other and to help lay the way for Radical Faeries around the world to achieve higher levels of awareness and cooperative action.

In honour of the 30th anniversary of the first national Radical Faerie gathering in 1979, we are gathering together once again to reflect upon and celebrate our hirstory, accomplishments and creative genius.

We are planning a gorgeous event of sharing information, thought-provoking ideas and reflections, and scrumptious entertainment. Last year’s FAEposium was intellectually juicy and gorgeously fun. We think this year’s event is not to be missed!

This, our second annual FAEposium, is no stodgy academic conference, but a mixture of faerie performance, inspirational papers, thought-provoking panels and lively discussions. We take as our model the classical Greek Symposia which were a mix of philosophical thought, entertainment, laughter, feasting, and propitiation of the gods.

What topic are you passionate for our community to talk about? Submit a proposal to facilitate that conversation! We’re interested in whatever creative ideas, wisdom or performative genius you would like to offer to the greater faerie community. We are not terribly impressed by academic credentials, but we are impressed by new ideas, provocative propositions, entertaining presentation styles, and thinking that may affect the development of our community and its future.

Performances

We invite live performances that offer more than art for art’s sake (or camp for camp’s sake)—we want to encourage thoughtful performances that engage and inspire the audience through their content, beauty or complexity.

Workshops, Panels and Presentations

These offer an opportunity to discuss and record our history; explore ideas that you feel passionate about that would be of interest or benefit to the Radical Faerie Community; examine issues confronting the Radical Faerie movement at this critical time; consider ways in which Radical Faeries in urban and rural settings can develop new gatherings and create new sanctuaries; provide venues for skill-sharing of many different types; explore the most pressing needs facing Faerie sanctuaries to help insure their strong future.

The FAEposium is a chance to share our collective and individual wisdom, and creative genius with the larger faerie community and the rest of the world. If you care about where our community is, you probably have something to say and we want to help you express it... using presentation styles most comfortable and best suited to you. Presentations, papers, panels and performance might include a variety of performance approaches, multimedia presentation, spoken word, music, drag, dance, new ideas and provocative propositions.... anything that gets us thinking, feeling and ready to move forward!

During the FAEposium, we’ll honor the gods and goddesses at a Radical Faerie Bacchanal with libations, bangin’ tunes, lovely food and much good conversation stimulated by all that has come before. Afterwards, we will honor Hestia by cleaning up after ourselves. We very much hope you can join us.

Documentation & reflection, creating a rich and varied snapshot, a mirror for us and a place for future Radical Faeries to look back at, is part of this year's Faeposium vision. We welcome you to join us in this process.

Ok so I wanna do a morrocan night for dinner one night. open to suggestions on which night. Also am gathering fabulous bellydancin queens, as well as anyone who has the sort of drag and serving boys and gals... please forward this to anyone interrested. for those of you already thinking of this, sent a message to skylar already... first name to pop in my mind... also if anyone has wearable tapestries scarves etc for loan it would be very much appreciated... also if there are any musicians... its a long shot but what the hell? zells? sitars? drums etc. also anyone with outdoor pavilion type cover to set up and hangable lights and extension cords, large incense burners... I'm thinking bowls of water to wash each other, trays to feed each other... mmmmmm... thats good... :)

Hey all! Thought i'd start a new thread...
We talked at the first planning meeting about a DJ/Dance Party for the first weekend of April in order to raise some (consciousness/dough/vibration/moolah/etc) for the Wolf Creek Beltane celebration!!
While there were many potential suggestions of Djs there was only one firm idea for a space in which to hold such an event...
That's the watershed. And honestly, for many reasons which i'll go into further at the next planning meeting (this coming thurs) this is probably not an ideal/possible scenario. So...
Where else can we have a party in about a month's time?? Bar venues are great, but let's not limit ourselves...
Brainstorm... Portland... Let's Go...

Tm and I are moving from Wolf Creek Sanctuary to get medical care in Seattle.
We are probably moving to Marrowstone Island and need a place to rent 1-2 days per week so that TM can get care for his stroke(speech therapy and yoga) and I can get HIV care. We need a King County address and we will be in town probably overnight each week.

We can afford up to $200 a month for four nights or so. We could pick days of the week that work best for you.

Some Ideas for Beltane!

Hi all!

I may or may not be at Beltane this year. I'm still working out my feelings about needing to take space.

I DO have some ideas that I'd like to share.

* First, if i'm not there, i hope that somebody would take on facilitating the Uni-Tea (formerly known as Sobrie-Tea) in other words a tea that EVERYONE around the Maypole can drink. OR Perhaps instead of Uni-Tea, there just be a sharing of WATER with everybody blessing each other "May you never thirst" as we share spring water with each other around the circle.

* I was talking with Zakkums on Saturday and i got the hit that early on in the Beltane gathering, there needs to be a Sexorcism Ritual. People could circle around the compost and the shitter and give voice to all the hurt feelings, pain, negativities, etc... that prevent us from creating more sex-positice spaces on the Land--especially spaces which are considered to be "exclusive" to some degree--in other words separate spaces for male-loving-male focused activities and female-loving-female focused actitvities like heart circles, circle jerks, sex parties. (Of course, pangender heart circles, sex parties and circle jerks would also be planned!!!)

* After that ritual, spaces, perhaps buildings could be designated as male-loving-male (MLM) focused space, female-loving-female (FLF) perhaps even GQLGQ (genderqueer-loving-genderqueer) space!! It's time we baked more pies. It's time we recognized that WE CAN have most spaces that are open to everybody AND some spaces that are focused around one gender AT THE SAME GATHERING. Far too often, this issue gets polarized and misperceived as being about a struggle between "faggot-only" and "pangenderists" trying to make all of Wolf Creek be one way all or most of the time. We can have our cake and eat it too! All it takes are facilitators to step forward and say; i will commit to holding the boundaries respecting MLM, FLF, GQLGQ spaces for those who need them. MLM, FLF and GQLGQ spaces could all switch locations on different days to mix it up and keep it interesting.

* Part of the ritual work needs to address the perception that some spaces are "sexist," "exclusive," and "discriminatory." In reality, pushing to have all spaces open to all genders all the time EXCLUDES the possibility of gender-focused spaces happening at the same time. Pangender and gender-focused spaces are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE and that's OK. The focus on one gender creates a different kind of space for healing and recovery--that space isn't better or worse than space open to all genders--just different. I have yet to hear people complain that sober space excludes or discriminates against people who are drinking or drugging. Instead of making claims that certain types of spaces are better than others, i feel it's more productive to be clear with intentions as to why gender-focused spaces are being set.

Having more gender-focused space at Wolf Creek is key to healing the connflicts and hurt feelings surrounding the sanctuary. Without opportunities for male-loving-male (MLM) space at Wolf Creek, those Faeries who used to participate at Wolf Creek when it was male-only will continue to feel excluded and shut out from the Sanctuary. I believe it's possible for the communities that gather at Wolf Creek to strike a balance between spaces open to all genders and spaces focused around one gender happening at the same time time in different spaces. Finding this equilibrium will have far-reaching effects beyond the beautiful, amazing Sanctuary we love and cherish.

P: Earthen expressd interest in wanting to know whats going on in Ptland—need someone to get in contact with earthen. Also need to get in contact with planning crew in SF. Def a need for people to go down early.

A call for the Beltaine call:

Hello beloved faerie kin. The time of Beltaine is fast approaching and there is much work to do! There are a few of us who have gathered already in anticipation of writing the beltaine call and co-facilitating the gathering as a whole. We are calling out to all of those fabulous individuals who feel inspired to be a part of this process. We are looking for queens to help write the official call for the gathering and also those who are interested in facilitating (kitchen queen, reg queen, ritual guru…etc.) For those of you who don’t know, WE HAVE NO SEED MONEY FOR THE GATHERING THIS YEAR! This means that as of right now there is no money to buy food to feed you or propane to cook the food to feed you. Also the caretakers are taking a hiatus from actively facilitating Beltaine. So WE (that means the people who only visit Wolf Creek) need to get it done! There is going to be an introductory/call brainstorming/writing meeting Thursday Feb. 12th at honey house in Portland. If being a part of this process sounds intriguing and fun (and even of it doesn't), please, please, please stop by and share your thoughts and visions for this upcoming B-taine! Honey house is asking that you bring some sort of food or drink to share. Please email me for directions to and timing for the meeting. Beltane Preparations/A Call for help

currently, we do not have the resources to make Beltane happen(both finances and faeries). I spoke with Stella recently and she suggested early registration and had a number of great ideas. (thx Stella!)

Lopi,Willow, ToddMary and myself are leaving the land sometime in the coming months. This wold be a great time to get going on preparations for the gathering.

Meals for Beltane

As it stands, there have actually only been a few that have requested meal slots and a few who did but are now unable to attend. I am finalizing the food orders so if anyone wants to make a meal that would require specific ingredients let me know a.s.a.p.. Beltaine Anticipation and Intention

Is so sweet this year...energy is moving and I find myself daydreaming about being in the meadow, at the fire pit, in the garden, in the woods. I'm working hard, but slowly making a pile of all that needs bringing with me, the drag, the wig, the puppet making supplies, The Beltaine 2008 yearbook supplies, the poems, the tent, the GAME (just you wait), the guitar, the drum, the rattle, practicing my songs for talent show..........

My intentions for the gathering are: to give thanks for my life in gratitude joy and with a great sense of FUN, to recharge my batteries and center myself for the coming year, to send a healing vibe LoveQuake out into the whole world from our groovy epicenter, to spend more one-on-one time with friends old and new, to finish sewing my pipe bag, and to help co-create amazing ritual throughout the whole gathering. (i know there's more, but I figure they will reveal themselves as needed :)

How is everyone else preparing?

Puppet Beltaine

So me and Clarity and Zero and Boomer and Chandra and Kaj-Anne and others have been getting our puppet on. The idea is to make some puppets before Beltaine and bring them with us and also to bring old stuffed animals and yarn and felt and pipe cleaners and pom poms and fake googly eyes and old socks (washed of course) and scissors and glue and thread and needles and paint and other puppet gut type stuff and have a puppet making party at Beltaine and then figure out what to do with them there.
So bring an idea, an old sock (washed preferably---or not, depending on your idea), whatever says "Puppet" to you...

Hey y'all, i know i ain't coming that early, but hey, i thought i might pass this on formally.

i have a vision i've been conjuring and practice-ing (and becoming) and i thinque i finally *am ready* to explore it more on feylandz...and what better place than Wolf Creek?!

Now, while it's true that my *intention* is to art this vision at WC in a/the summer gathering,
it's hard to say whether i'll be there physically...so, let this be seed for thoze whom can hear my heart

and let my language-ings be samples for you to possibly develop (so that i'm perhaps *blown away* by your input, and not merely confined to indirect/cowardly )?( perpetual war-stuck "warrior" games.

Callin all kitchen Wenches, Witches, & Queens....

Kluska is heading up meal coordinations for this years Beltane
celebration. There will be a total of 19 Community meals this gathering.
They will be 6 breakfasts, 1 brunch, 5 lunches, & 7 Dinners. We are actively seeking Meal Planners, Cooks, servers, cleaners and other-helper type fairies. If you have a great meal idea (naked sushi,Hobo camp, circus, etc.) or just want to "plug-in" in some manner please contact kluska. The dinners will have a budget of $225 per meal for specific ingredients, all staples (flour, rice, beans, oil, etc) will be provided.Please keep this in mind when requesting any special grocery items to make your meal happen. All other meals will have the staples and some other special goodies available, but we do not have a specific budget or
financial allotment set aside for these.

If you want to head a meal then please look at the dates and meal slots below pick one and contact Kluska so you can work out the details. If you just want to plug-in in some manner but do not desire the responsibility of heading up a whole meal for ravenous fairies then just let him know and he will work with you to meet that need.

Kitchen Queen: Be the Supreme Ruler of the kitchen for a day.
Cook: Sign up with a friend or two to cook a meal.
Dishwasher: Dishwashers eat first, and are considered especially desirable sexual partners.
Ritual Planning: Help hold the container and guide the energy for our personal and communal magic.
Shitter Patrol: Keep our trusty shitters clean and well-stocked. A humble yet vital job.
Welcome Wagon: Hang out at the Qiosk in the Parking Lot and greet new arrivals.
Zombie Nurses: Be a clear and grounded presence to safeguard and provide first aid to your fellow Faeries.

Community Agreements
We ask you to respect these agreements while at this Gathering:
• Please use all substances intentionally, mindfully, and with respect for yourself and those around you.
• Please smoke only in these areas: in the Smoking Circle (behind the Barn), behind Garden House, at the fire, or in the parking lot (...and NOT on the paths, at your campsite, in Garden House, or in the Barn).
• Please don't smoke, use, or be under the influence in the Heart Circle or in and around Halston.
• Please use alcohol in moderation, and only in the parking lot. The exception is Libation Night, beginning after dinner on Saturday, April 28, when there will be ritual use of alcohol in circle.
• Please be responsible for all items you bring to the Sanctuary. If you pack it in, pack it out. Please leave your camping space and our whole Sanctuary in a better condition than you found it.

• Violence or intolerance.
• Fire, smoking, candles, or incense on paths or at campsites.
• Pets. Yes, your dog is lovely. But a dozen dogs in a barking, fighting, pooping pack? Are not so lovely. For the safety and comfort of everyone at the Gathering, please leave your dog at home. Your comments are welcome, especially on the people/quantities I'm assuming for each meal, and on the staples list (it seems like a lot, is there stuff we should cut?)

I need to add Atomic's revised menus and order to the spreadsheet. I am also still figuring out menus for breakfasts and lunches. Any suggestions of breakfast/lunch dishes that work well and are popular?

I went to Big John's in Seattle (god I love that place: http://www.bigjohnspfi.com/) and spent $297 on olive and peanut oil, tahini, kalamatas, ricotta, and a whole bunch of spices.

I want to make sure I understand where to order. Are these the right sources?

Dairy: Cash&Carry or Umpqua?
Supermarket stuff, eggs, cheese, meat, coffee: Cash&Carry?
Produce and hippie food: Farmer Joe or United Natural Foods?
Greens and butternut squash: Feral Fruits (what kinds of greens will you have specifically? Spinach, kale, parsley, salad greens?)

White Eagle, I'd love it if you could look the order over with me on Weds or Thurs. I'll give you a call in the next day or so so we can make a date.

Evie and I talked about whether we need a Kitchen Queen for each day to be a resource for the cooks. This would be a good thing to talk about at the meeting. I'm willing to be a KQ for two or three days if needed.

AS some folks have known, last year, we at the sanctuary were offered a community drum from Otter (that's Otter from the lineage of Tranny Granny, not "Hummer-Otter/ Ember"). A long chain of events, and emotions, and considerations needed time to work themselves out.

Thanks to the cadre of gurls that have been supporting this work with prayers.

A lot of prayer and preparation has gone into singing this vision home; and this week, Brother Chase has brought it home to us.
Now, we have our heartbeat...

I'm hoping that Beltane opens the door for those who are called to the drum to come and play. Ask yourself, is this for you? Do you have medicine to share with the drum? Please, if you feel the connection building, bring feathers (real, not boa), claws, paws, beads, crystals, shells; anything from the natural world that represents your allies and totems... We will be hanging these medicines on the drum stand during the early part of the Gathering. Also, we need a natural red cloth (cotton, wool, silk,??) to make a cover for her; 6x6 ought to be enough. There may be other objects or offerings that we are moved to give her, let's stay open to what Spirit wants of us...

For reference, the full moon is May 2, in the morning. Which means that Beltane night is the top of the cycle, a great night to fully welcome the drum into our lives (with a community-wide reception). We'll be announcing her name, and, I don't know what else...
Any input can be directed to me over i-net, or phone. Who doesn't need direction?
Any donations specific to the drum need to say so on the memo line of the check.

This usually get created organically on the land but I thought it might be a good idea to start discussing it now incase we need some special items. If someone feels called to step up and help facilitate this discussion that would be great, if not I’m sure it will happen on the land and be just as magical.

Akka has suggested in the past that everyone bring a sheet from home, something you’ve slept on, fucked on, birthed on or died on. Not only would this make for a special pole it would also help us from having to drive to Wall Mart and purchase fabric.

Kwai would like to see more one on one connections, the weaving in a circle with eyes connecting.

Kevin is interested in learning about the round top seen on some May poles, can we have one?

HEART CIRCLE
One suggestion for heart circle was to move it to 10AM, right after 8AM Breakfast.

Another suggestion was to have smaller “sub-groups or pod like heart circles”.

DAILY CIRCLE
Was suggested that we do daily circle at 1PM, same time as lunch. Encouraging people to get lunch and take it to the circle.

Does someone help facilitate this or does it just happen organically?

Beltane (Kitchen Queens)

We need Kitchen Queens. This year we are spreading the bulk of this duty out over a group of people in hopes of keeping the KQ’s free to enjoy other aspects of the gathering as well as focusing more love and intention into each meal.

As of now we have Lucy Fur, Stella Maris and Atomic as KQ’s. Rickster Trickster has also expressed an interest in cooking a meal. If you are feeling a call to be a KQ please let your intentions be know.

My hope is to collect names of interested KQ’s and the meal/menu and pass it along to Lucy Fur so she can order the food in time to have it on the land.

Meals in the works.
1. Italian
2. Baja
3. Indian
4. Ethiopian

The thought is to have two and maybe even three meals a day, some meat, most not with lots of veg/vegan alternatives on meat days.
It has also been mentioned having a schedule for meals.

8AM Breakfast
1PM Lunch
7PM Dinner

Once again if you have meal that your interested in cooking please let it be know so we can get all the food ordered early.

This is a new title I’ve made up after talking with Stella Maris about easing some of the responsibilities of the Kitchen Queens. As I vision this title it would come with the duties of...

1. Have a list of dish washers lined up for each meal of the day.
2. Have the dish station set up for dish washers.
3. Should know how to dispose of compost.
4. Empty trash and recycling.
5. Have clean towels and aprons for kitchen staff.
6. Will know how to attach propane tanks and keep tabs on empties.
7. Have runners ready to go to store for last minute item.

I really see myself stepping into this, yet recognize that it is a lot to handle and would also be willing to share the title with others.

This was Michael Abrams idea and I love it, with his permission and the communities input I hope to build this and bring it to the gathering. I would like to call it a qiosk instead of a kiosk, giving it more of a fae twist.

These are some of the things people have mentioned adding to the qiosk, please feel free to add more.

1. map of the land. (Kevin has offered to make one marking all the camping/parking, fire extinguishers, trails)

5. volunteer sign up.

Beltane (Land Prep)

A handful of people have expressed an interest in arriving early to help prep the land. Here is a partial list of some of the things that might need done.

1. Open the kitchen.
2. Clean the barn. (new kitchen area, goblin market)
3. Getting shitters ready.
4. Cutting back brush.
5. Readying garden house.
6. Hauling trash to dump.
7. Filling propane tankes.
8. Sharpening knives. (I’ve got an awesome electric sharpener)
9. Setting up a first aid station.

It’s also been mentioned that hosting people before the gathering cost, was mentioned that people pay $10 a day? I don’t know how these things are usually handled and would love some feed back on this. Contact the land ahead of time if your coming early so they can shop for food.

I'm down here in the bay where Evie and I had a Beltaine meeting as well. I'm sure Evie will post the notes soon.
Any how I had a few concerns about some things.

Around alcohol
I personally can't drink very much but I enjoy the tastefully trashy parking lot scene. I also enjoy the rediculous revelry that is libation night, and for most faeries it is the celebration before the purification in preparation for ritual.
Making a no alcohol rule at a Bacanalian gathering seems wrong to me and will only divide our community further. It's true faeries will drink anyway but I'd rather it be hanging out together in parking lot than hiding in their camps.
As for the stinky drunkards in ritual circle, isn't it the same few faeries everytime? Maybe we should look at a different way of dealing with the situation.
I would feel good about having a circle around alcohol and rules at the gathering so the community has an opportunity to be part of decisions made for our future gatherings.

Heart Circles
We Need Them!
I propose we change the daily schedule and have Breakfast around 8, Heart Circle around 10, Lunch at 1pm and all sit down and have our logistical meeting while we eat. This will allow faeries to sleep in or attend heart circle, give enough time in the day to get projects done and probably raise attendance to the daily circle. If open heart space is created every morning, even with just two faeries, it will radiate out and benefit our whole community.

Smoking at Maxine? Can we put the smoking circle in Patty Ville?
I love having coffee and singing with Maxine in the morning and I don't smoke. I know many other faeries enjoy thier alone time with her as well.
I think if we had another non-smoking area with nice benches, a table, and shade the smoking area wouldn't be such a magnet and we could leave it behind the drag box.

Dinner Circles
Please lets make them shorter and deseminate info in other ways. Evie and others before had mentioned creating a info station and fire maps. Perhaps we can use a annoucement and event board so faeries can give short pitches and refer to it for further info. I've noticed when dinner circles are toturously long faeries stop attending.

I agree with all that the theme this year is inclusion. Let us all feel welcome and enbraced.
And let us all pass on our knowldege and skills to empower out whole community.

Will there be indoor community spaces available for workshops, circles, activities, etc?

I recall Freedaddy mentioning that there was an abundance of space available at the Sanctuary.

Can we designate a space to be available for workshops, circles, activities, etc. We could use a poster board on the barn to call for the space, similar to what they do during the Breitenbush gathering.

I'd like to see an indoor space that could be reserved for morning yoga. I'd like to see a circle for reiki healing, massage, and cuddling. A less disturbed place to hold a ritual or circle. I know most things can be held outside, but Beltaine has been known to have torrential rainstorms, as well.

What do you think about this?

Intentions for the gathering

We talk a lot about our intentions for a gathering... I'd love to share one of mine and hear from others as to what they're wanting to create this year 'round Beltane.

I just said to Evie that I'm getting more clear now on mine, and I'd articulate a main theme as letting go of who I think I am, ritualizing this letting go, and stepping into my authentic self more fully. I can imagine others resonating with this, so I'm wanting to visualize now for myself how that would play out ritually..... I intend to prepare and co-create a ritual down here in the bay area with dear ones in my life to cut my hair (maybe? eek, that scares me) and go into the womb of the earth (literally), then emerge naked and sprout wings and fly away (uh, I'm just talking off the top of my head now!). No, ditch the flying away, I would be embraced by the community and held in a space of love and creative energy. Somehow I'd like to bring this to the gathering... maybe it doesn't express itself as a death-rebirth ritual (for me that's really a Samhain-Yule-Brigid theme) but more an emergence into true self, supported by the budding of spring and the weaving of a new web for the year.

What's on YOUR mind, dearies? ;)

Raising Energy for the Gathering

Evie and I are calling a circle for people who have energy around making Beltane happen.

We want to do some visioning around our intentions, generate some themes for the Call, talk about where each of us feels moved to contribute, and make some plans for next steps.

I don't know if I've ever been so excited for Beltane in my whole life! Maybe except for last year I was pretty stoked to come home from South America. And now I get to come home from the East Coast, my new home. Such a needed vacation and treat to see my whole family that I haven't seen in a year. I can't wait.
I don't know how much help I can be out here except ideas and intentions, I suppose. I'll keep up on what's going on on here.
