Womyn in Literature Multi-Cultural

public - created 02/28/06
This tribe will include posts that celebrate womyn in literature, both classic fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, essays, journals, and Multi-cultural and feminist emphasis. Especially posting about womyn whom may not be well known.

Artists including Anais Nin, Virginia Woolf, Audre Lorde, Alexia Kollanti, Slyvia Plath, Doris Lessing, etc.

Definately with emphasis on classic literature and historical, especially to create a broad knowledge of womyn authors who many may not be aware of.

Web links will be included so that readers/posters can read more on authors and their bios, etc. Strong inclusions of womyn authors from other nations and cultures.

History and bios included, including obstacles these womyn faced and the times they lived under and the influence on their writing due to such, for example, Anna Alkamatova and her poetry during years of brutal censorship and restraints on works in Soviet, and especially towards womyn artists/authors, etc.

know I didn't spell her name correct but its late and I'll edit tomorrow. Purpose of this tribe is to expand our knowledge and reader base on womyn authors and artists who are outside our circle, or who aren't on the pop-culture most popular list. I would like to encourage womyn to read authors from other ethnic and national groups, both historically and currently.
