Re: Match Point
Thu, March 16, 2006 - 7:25 AMOkay---I saw it a few weeks back at our local independent theater...they had MATCH POINT there for about 3 weeks and I saw it with good friends of mine. I thought it was a good film. Quite honestly though...I thought it was a lot like the Martin Landau//Anjelica Huston story line in Crimes and Misdemeanors. Now granted...ultimately the situations played out differently...but to me are so so similar. I thought MATCH POINT was good though...and Scarlett was fantastic.
oh...and I gotta give my respect to RagTag Cinemacafe...check it out at www.ragtagfilm.com
...you have to love a theater where beer and wine and tasty goodies are there begging to be enjoyed...and where there's introductory words about the film and an intermission. And where very intelligent films are shown and also has a fantastic film festival each year that just keeps growing...yes--i love RagTag.
Oh, yeah--and I love Woody Allen. ;) -

Re: Match Point
Tue, March 21, 2006 - 6:01 PMWell, I saw it today at my local independent cinema! Loved it, although it did remind my a bit of 'crimes and misdemeanors'. The english accdents took awhile to get used to but eventually settled and became quite charming. It was easy to see how some of the external shots were so woody-in-manhattan, but at least he is still able to make films exactly the way he wants them, where-evert hey're set. A big relief was that NO character in the film was playing "Woody Allen", I do miss him in his films but I'd rather see him play himself than another actor (will farrel was the latest) playing him. All in all another great film from a great film maker!
