Aloha, Iaorana, Alafia, Namaskar, Marhaba,
So wonderful to see all of you here in this new forum.
I'd love to have everyone check in and introduce yourselves. What is your interest in world dance? What kind of topics would you like to explore in this community?
I look forward to getting to know you.
'O wau,
Mahealani

Re: Welcome to World Dance!
Wed, May 9, 2007 - 11:10 AMGreetings Mahealani and World-Dancers,
I live in Vermont (northeast US) and have been practicing belly-dance since fall 2005. I purchased Mahea's "Ori" DVD some months ago and love it. I am fascinated and challenged by Tahitian and Polynesian dance and look forward to learning more about it here on tribe, but I'll probably mostly "lurk."
Thank you for creating this tribe, Mahea!

Re: Welcome to World Dance!
Thu, May 10, 2007 - 12:31 AMiaorana tatou,
i am haumana hula and a student of tahitian ori.
i have danced since i was 7 and i don't know another expression that brings me the joy that dance does. in another life i would have loved to study afro-haitian dance.... or even congalese but they're aren't currently enough hours in the day in my life! i would love to talk to others about their own ideas about how the dance form that they are in impacts their lives. there is a shirt that i have on today , reads : EAT, SLEEP, HULA
and you know, it's such a true statement.

Re: Welcome to World Dance!
Fri, May 25, 2007 - 9:47 AMI am a student of Tahitian Ori. Its the first dance class I've taken.
I can't wipe the smile off my face when I'm dancing even when sweat is pouring off me.
More then the dance I am looking for community. I am interested in Afican dance as well but I'm taking it one step at a time.
