He annoyed me. He was so one dimensional and kind of dense and not too sexy. I think most of the sex appeal on the show was WW.

IIRC, they did gradually improve the quality of Steve's character as the show went on.

A lot of the comic writers have had problems with how to deal with the character, too, though (they also had similar problems with the original Supergirl's boyfriends -- I suppose one could make a case for Society At Large not understanding the concept of Strong Woman plus Romance, but I'll spare yawl the rhetoric...)

Historically in comics when dealing with superheroines, they have always put a male "interest" there. Because of course a woman cant be complete unless she is pining after a man. Since after all, even if she has super powers what a woman wants is to be at home barefoot and pregnant. Today in comics most of the female characters still have some male "object" of somekind. Very few dont. But many of the males heros can get by without having that female love interest.

Steve was one dimensional in the tv series and for most of the years of the comic book has been equally one dimensional and used as the "damsel" in distress or the hero saving WW in unlikely scenarios. The most recent WW comic series has for the most part removed a male interest, until recently. But instead of a moon eyed love feel, they are going to flirtatious sexual innuendo route which is a nice change. There currrently isnt a Steve Trevor in the WW world. Only inklings of any romance was a brief phase with her and Batman. Just talking , tense sexual moments and some heavy petting. But they thought it best to stay friends.

Sigh. Maybe I need to write a comic book.....Seriously. Although I am very aware I am not funny enough, nor could I come up with any decent plot......hhhmmmmmmm

Guess I will just live my comic book life and leave it at that..:)

Sean - I couldn't agree more and it looks like I'm going to have to get some Wonder Woman comics and get caught up. Batman? Too cool.

I alway figured that WW was a lesbian, since she was alone on an island with a bajillion hot Amazons. I just assumed that she was humouring old Steve-o, so she'd "fit in" <g>. But maybe that was just my adolescent fantasies talking <lol>.

Is that why they went crazy when Major Steve showed up on the island? "Oh look, there's a thing attached to that dildo. Cool."

                  Yeah, a power supply <lol>.

Seriously, since I'm bi, I like that warm meat dildo thing...maybe some Amazons do too ; )? (Sorry, is that too crude for this Tribe? Just tell me to hush.)

no, no, no not at all..........it's about time that this tribe got more titillating..........yep, I said titillating. It's one of my favorite words. I try to use it about 10 times a day. Especially at work.

                        <<lesbian>>

In the most recent incarnation of WW and the Amazons the no men on the island all those years and needs has been skirted around. One example (paraphrasing) is a off handed comment The Flash makes re the pent up needs of women alone on an island all those years without men. Wonder Woman just turns to him (again paraphrasing) and says You dont need men for everything, we werent alone and can take care of our needs. Which left The Flash speechless.

There was one issue in which she flashed backed on memories of an Amazon named IO, who was dead and the memories of her read like a letter to a lost love. So the sapphic bent of the island is definitely more out there now.

Isn't the Paradise Island based on the Isle of Lesbos?

I'm not sure what the original WW author had in mind, but the original Greek mythos regarding Amazons characterized them more as political "separatists", in my eyes, than lesbians, though they did have relationships with one another. They supposedly "took" men on occasion, if they desired them, and certainly used them for procreation purposes, but never allowed them to live in their communities. They also basically sent any male children either back to their fathers, or left them out in the wild to die, depending upon which version you read. However, I don't recall WW (comics/show/what-have-you) ever really going into this issue very deeply. It might make WW look a bit more brutal than a SuperHero should, eh? : )

Its the island of Themyiscaria (sp)

<<characterized them more as political "separatists", >>

Thats how it seems to be characterized to an extent now. There are even different tribes of Amazons who couldnt agree located in other places.

Might be surprised but William Mouton Marston created WW with his wife Elizabeth and their live in partner in a polyamourous relationship Olive Byrne. So who knows what they were thinking

Her lasso which among other things can compell people to tell the truth lead to him develooping the idea for the lie detector.
